My sister and I visited Entsuin twice, once at night and during the day. Both visits were worth it. There was a light-up event at night that highlighted beautiful autumn colors. The pond reflected trees around it like a mirror. This event is very popular,...More

The gardens in this temple are magnificent. The carved crevices and buddhas in the mountainside give it an almost otherworldly quality. The temple itself was closed for repairs when I visited, so I can only say things about the garden. When in Matsushima it would...More

When we went, there was a lady in a Kimono that gave us a free English guided tour. There is so much that you would never know about the place. The black "slate" stone path? That is from the Beach area and us also same...More

As has been stated, the gardens here are lovely. Definitely worth going. Intersting mausoleum at the back of the property.

This may not be such a big place compared to Zuiganji-temple, but it's got such beautiful gardens and there are many photo spots. First of all, the rock garden attracts your eyes; the contrast of white rocks and darker rocks, the harmony of rocks and...More

Not as famous as it's eminent neighbour Zuiganji, but this temple wins with its lovely gardens. Was there in June and the flowers were blooming. There are also caves here to see.

The nice thing of this temple is the garden. It is not very big but it is quite peacful. The temple itself is not very impressive, however it is quite nice the small temple dedicated to the son of shogun that died young.

This is a beautiful temple and garden. It's unusual because it contains a rose garden, a moss garden and a heart shaped pond. There are many maple trees which would make it a lovely sight in autumn. You can wander at your own leisure and...More
