- Meesh6 contributionsGlad we did it!We took this tour on a rainy day when the mountain biking trails were closed. So glad we did! The tour guide, Lance, exceeded our expectations with his care and knowledge of the geography, wildlife, and native peoples. Thank you Lance! We were lucky enough to even see some bats. We would definitely recommend to a family or adventurous/curious group of friends like us. The “lights out” experience was our favorite part :)Visited April 2021Traveled with friendsWritten April 7, 2021
- Kelly BIowa4,300 contributionsEducational and interesting cave tourWe went on a cavern tour today. We had Lance as our tour guide, and he did an excellent job. He kept everyone interested with facts about the cave, and history about the area. The tour starts up by the gift shop, which is also where you pick up paper tickets. I booked our tour in advance online, due to Covid. First the tour guide walked us down to the cave. It’s downhill, paved, and relatively easy. The view of the lake outlet is beautiful. The actual cavern tour is quite easy, mostly level on a paved path, with only a few steps to look up into a little room (optional). There a few spots where you have to duck, and a few puddles on the walkway. There’s a creek that runs through the cavern that’s quite pretty. There’s a small waterfall, and a little pond at the end of the tour. You really don’t see much of the cavern; nor does it have anything truly amazing in it, but due to the history of the cavern I still felt it was very much worth it. After the guided tour, you can feed the large carp and turtles in the lake outlet (bring quarters for machine). The water is very clear and almost green in color; it’s very picturesque. The walk back up to the gift shop is a bit of a trudge if you’re out of shape, like myself. There are benches to rest on during the walk up. The gift shop was nice, with a decent variety.Visited June 2020Traveled with familyWritten June 7, 2020
- Jessica C1 contributionGood place to spend a few hours in natureOur tour guide was Adam and he was very knowledgeable and answered all questions those in the group had. He even provided verbal quizzes for the young ones to participate and help engage their thinking. The cave itself isn't very steep, but the walk to and from the cave is. So be prepared for that. They do offer spelunking tours for those 12 and up. On site you can feed the fish off of the river, go through a wooden maze to find the five Indian tribes hidden within, and explore the Mystery Moonshine shack. You are encouraged to take photos and videos of everything unlike most other places. Tour times may very depending on the season and rainfall levels. My mother who is in her early 50's is overweight and in poor health was able to do this. Granted we took our time and rested every so often we still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.Visited July 2021Written July 31, 2021
- tinatrinitybrick2018Moore, Oklahoma196 contributionsBummedI am sorry but Onyx cave was so much better. They let dogs go on the tours and I am a dog lover but when your dog can quit whining or barking, well it ruined the tour. We couldn't hear the guide and the people with the dogs were almost as loud as the dog and of course they had to be near the guide. And we had three HUGE dogs on our tour! They stunk worse than the bat poop! We did see a couple of bats fly around. It cost extra if you want to see stalactite's or stalagmites and I don't know of any other cave that does that. Was disappointed in the whole thing. But that is just me. Maybe I expected too much.Visited June 2021Written June 29, 2021
- becky hOmaha, Nebraska125 contributionsstay with the state and federal cavesI asked the tour guide about White Nose Syndrome, a condition killing hundreds of thousands of bats. He said it was not affecting the bats in Arkansas because it did not get cold enough in their state. When I when home I looked this up and found it to be a lie. It seems like privately run caves think only about money. All he had to do is say yes, it is present. Also the cave was not as nice/interesting as Cosmic Caverns and seemed overpriced.Visited October 2020Written November 13, 2020
- KSeaterRogers, Arkansas267 contributionsGreat summer activity for any ageOur tour guide, Adam, was astonishing. He knew so much about the cave and the kids enjoyed his tour. The water falls inside the cave were pretty magnificent. It was great going in the middle of summer, because the cave was a cool, about 55 degrees. The moonshiners mystery shack was a tipped over house with optical illusions with various activities. The lost in the woods maze was also fun. You have to find five lost tribes that when found you punch a hole in your ticket. Time from the start so you can brag about your time.Visited July 2021Traveled with familyWritten July 27, 2021

- wonsukmaTulsa, Oklahoma395 contributionsA lovely but different excursion from the watersAfter several picnics around the Beaver Lake, we decided to try something different. War Eagle Cavern was the perfect choice. It's a leveled walk (unlike the cavern in the Silver Dollar City of Branson), and even small kids enjoyed in our group. Joanne, our guide, was brilliant: full of knowledge (like a geology teacher), considerate, and delightful. The cafe, however, was closed, not that we needed anything from there. We will bring our grand kids.Visited June 2020Written June 26, 2020

Our guide Adam was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time making sure children in the group were entertained. Bonus, the views of Beaver Lake are spectacular. There are also hiking trails in the area for the more athletic tourists. Private attractions can be hit or miss. This one was good.Visited July 2021Traveled with familyWritten July 27, 2021
- Arpan1 contributionA whole new experience for cave lovers! The best part is to learn about all the cool facts, feeling the rocks close up and the anticipation to see bats! Going through the narrow passages, getting to see water droplets through the cracks high up. Very detail oriented and personalized tour with a great tour guide Adam. Highly suggest feeding the fish in the lake as well. Really cool place to visit for a great experience in the Ozark.Visited July 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten July 1, 2021

Toured the cavern with friends. Our guide, Joann, was very informative, sharing facts about how the cavern came to be as well as the history of who inhabited the cavern. We’re all seniors but were able to navigate the tour well. Lots of walking, some downhill, then of course back uphill, however, the pace allowed us to take our time. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here!! There were several children on our tour. Kudos to their parents! All were very well behaved! Followed the rules and their parent’s directives!

This was a great little cave tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. There were no bats in residence at the time of our visit, but it was very interesting to hear about them and their life in the cave. We had a precious older couple in their 80's who had never been on a cave tour in our group, and experiencing the cave with them made it even more special. Definitely glad that we stopped.

We stopped here during our spring break trip and had a very interesting tour with Lance who knew so much about the area. Beautiful area to walk around and we would’ve stayed longer had it not been for rain. It kept the interest of the kids and teens and was a great activity for them to appreciate the beauty of the area. The kids enjoyed the maze and moonshine house but I’d probably skip those on a hot day.

How steep is the hill to the cavern and could an electric scooter make the trip?

Is this wheelchair accessible?
Traveler_at_Heart_09

Here is some helpful info....
The Traditional Cavern Tour takes place on rough concrete paved walkways, so it is possible for wheelchairs and strollers to go through the cave. However, due to its unique and natural formation, the cave floor is unlevel in some areas. Also, the pathway from the gift shop to the cave is ¼ mile all downhill on paved asphalt which does mean the wheelchair will have to come back up the hill after the tour. It usually takes a person of significant strength to restrain the chair as it goes down the hill and push it back up afterwards. We recommend that any guest wanting to attempt the tour in a wheelchair bring along at least 2 strong, capable family members and/or acquaintances to help.

how much does the maze cost? the site just has the cave tour listed + says to call for a 3-activity package (but we don't want to do panning, mystery house etc.)...thanks!

I believe the tickets for the cave visit alone was $18 or, as you mentioned the 3-activity package for $26.
That package includes the mystery house (which was quite entertaining, truth be said) and the maze (which we didn't do although it was included in the price due to lack of time).
The panning costs extra because you purchase the kits with the stones in them, I believe.

How much for tickets and what's 're the hours

You best check their Facebook page before you go because they are closed in the winter. We wanted to revisit and almost made a trip in vain this January. Ticket prices are on their website, right now they are $18/$26 per adult depending on the package you choose
