This hike had incredible artifacts around so many corners that we lost track - from the lion water fountain, to the obelisks, to the incredible vista views - you should make this hike a must on your Petra itinerary. We enjoyed this hike even more than the Monastery, and that was fantastic too, so that's saying a lot. We rode... More

Had been here with a group of 50. Since we had people of all ages in the group, we had to start late (by 9AM) and hence had only enought time to get a quick glance at what Petra had to offer. It is magnificient and I plan to make another trip with fewer friends to spend more time here.... More

While it was mentioned to go with guide we decided to go on our own. It was worth full trip to high spot with a view of Petra from top. You can take your time about 45 minutes to reach high place of sacrifice and than take the diversion to descent through Wadi faraway. This takes you to the lion... More

Right after passing the khaznah to the right, and before reaching the Roman theater start the climb on the left. You should dress accordingly and take breaks a long the way. There are no rails to protect you from falling so be careful. Along the way there is water for sale, and public toilet on the very top. The location... More

We set out early before 7am in a blistering hot day. This hike is easier than the Monastery hike but more varied and there's more shade. The summit isn't as spectacular as The Monastery but there are more sites of interest (Garden Temple, Soldier Tomb etc) on the way down. Don't follow the many cairns upwards as they lead nowhere.

You can reach the High Place of Sacrifice by climbing rock-cut steps to the top where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the ancient city below.

A must if you are fit and active and find yourself in petra. The hike is a very scenic one with plenty of twits and turns and obviously when you are high above Petra you get some stunning views

This was a great climb and once you were at the top you could see all over Petra and beyond. Well worth the climb to the top
