We were fortunate that a friend has a good friend in Huaraz who is an expert on the local mountains. He took us up this god-awful dirt road to the mountaineering school that is just inside the park near glacier fronting the three mountains (Vallunaraju,...More

It was a extremely tough walk up to the Lagoon 69 at the top and it took 3 and a half hours but when you finally reach the top the views are beautiful, just stunning. It began snowing a little at the top but we...More

Some of the most beautiful country in Ancash State. Well worth the time to visit. The road through the park itself is nicely paved if you travel by bus. Absolutely stunning views of Huascaran.

This is an undiscovered treasure with remote trails and views that never end. Visit this park before it gets popular!

As everyone is writing here - it is a amazing place! Best view ever! We've spend there 7 days and want much more! But I would like to mention something about prices for people who want to stay a night in camping or refugee -...More

Words cannot describe this experience. You must see it for yourself. If you're anywhere in the area you have to make the drive up to the Huascaran. Plan for a whole day, as it's a slow drive there and back, and you don't want to...More

We booked a day hike to Laguna 69 with Peru Tours, located right beside the Plaza de Armas in Huaraz. The tour cost us 30 soles / person and included the 2.5 hour bus ride to the park's entrance, return trip and a guide. The...More

This area of Peru is stunning. If you are in to hiking then the Santa Cruz Trek reaching 5800m ASL is a moderately hard trail not to be missed. With snow capped peaks, turquoise lakes, Eagles and Condors soaring above you what more could you...More

Some mindblowing landscapes. Its really awesome! You must go to Laguna 69. If you are in nice shape, you can go to Santa Cruz Trekking.

We were hesitating whether to do this tour or not. It was spectacular! The lake as well, but the trek up to it was amazing! Better than many sites on the Santa Cruz trek for example. It was our second day in Huaraz so a...More

En general los tours a Llanganuco y Chavín duran todo el día, se visitan pueblos intermedios, en una corta parada, y el paseo incluye parar a almorzar en algún restaurant que ya tienen coordinado con la agencia, sin embargo... More
Since you would not recommend this trek, would you recommend the Mt Piso climb? We already have our airfare to Lima set for June and are now planning our trip. I also booked a hiking tour with Tierras Vivas (Salkantay/Inca) to Machu Pichhu. We will planning on staying in Yangay as our base so any ideas would be helpful. We were in Patagonia last year and trekked without guides. We had a car and went on day hikes and overnights so your comment really hit home. The Andes in Patagonia were spectacular and we have never seen mountains like them. Have you been anywhere else you might recommend besides the Peruvian Andes for our next adventure?

Once one sees Torres del Paine, the bar becomes so very high that it is really hard to beat. It must be really another twist or an angle to enjoy some other mix of experiences. In this respect Peru's Cordillera Negra/Blanca... More
