Overall this is a nice resort, can’t be too bad as I’ve been 6 times! Ok for beginners to intermediates but experts will get quickly bored. The pistes are groomed everyday but get chopped up by lunchtime. The slopes are generally north facing so don’t...More

January is the best time of the year to be there! We will definitely be back! Last year we made a mistake of coming in February during winter break, but Jan is much much better!

We had great days for ski. Good snow and great weather. I advise to get the VIP ski pass. It makes a difference when standing in line for the gondola. It saves about 30 to 40 minutes of line.

We spent A fabulous family skiing holiday over the new year in Bansko. Let’s start off with the skiing. The slopes design for beginners tended to get very busy which is understandable over New Year. However, the slopes for the more advanced skiers were fairly...More

To Start off with, there are long queues at the gondola (over an hour at busy times) which means getting there at 8:00. The slopes are far too busy after 10:30/2:00. After 2pm a lot of the slopes have a lot of moguls. They need...More

Lovely part of the world, really friendly people, but the town is probably the biggest ski town I've seen, while the ski area is one of the smallest This results in long queues at the gondola (over an hour at busy times) and slopes which...More

Bansko could become a nice ski destination... Well it is cheap and what you get for your money is relatively fair. You start with a bad welcome experience when you want to buy the ski pass. Hundreds of people waiting, only 2 counters open. Then...More

Having skied a lot in various ski centres before skiing in bansko was truly odd. To get to the ski lifts you need to take a gondola. The problem is that thousands of other people have the same goal as you. Queue last very long...More

It is our second time in Bansko. We love skiing here. Tons of shops to rent skis. The only problem is the line for the lift 🚠 you need to come very early otherwise is the waiting time for the ride up at least 2...More

For the most part no, you have to make your way up to the gondola top station and meet your instructor there. Some tour operators do provide a priority pass, but not the ski schools.

If you can get one it is worth it, have queued for nearly an hour in the past and known others wait longer. One tour operator appears to provide them as well as booking direct with the Keplinski Hotel.

Do Not Ski BANSKO It is Dangerously Overcrowded (3 Replies)
Bansko is overcrowded and dangerous. Too many hotels. Not enough lifts. Never seen so many injuries. 2 hour queue for gondola every morning. Ridiculous. Forced to pay for taxi to get to top instead of waiting hours every day. DO NOT SKI BANSKO UNTIL THEY GET ANOTHER LIFT TO THE TOP.

There are many ways to avoid the Gondola queue in Bansko. Not sure you have skied in other European/American ski resorts during mid term holidays... You will be surprised to find even longer queues.
