Excellent cooking class! We were not sure whether to go as we had limited days in Bali, but we are so glad we did. Everything was very well organized, the family compound was peaceful and nice. They also talked about traditions in their family and general Balinese life, it was very interesting! The visit to the market was great as you go to a local market with no tourists.
Everyone was friendly and the food of course was amazing, and ingredients fresh. The class is good for beginners but also more experienced cooks to see Balinese flavors being created. Explanations were clear and also the history was interesting. I highly recommend booking this class if you have the time, especially if you are a foodie.

Really interesting and authentic cooking class experience. Ayu is a lovely person, with a special ability to talk to people. She shared personal stories that gave us a really good insight into Balinese traditions.

The class itself was really good organized, and we went through many different dishes in the span of a few hours. Several of her family members participated and made sure that everyone were able to follow the cooking instructions.

Ayu seems to be an important person in the local community, and by participating in her class one can be a part of sustainable tourism, and hopefully contribute to local growth.

Amazing cooking class in a beautiful family compound. First we visited the local market and rice paddy, then we were welcomed with a drink and a tasty snack and learned about Balinese culture and life - very interesting! We were given a lot of information about the ingredients we were going to be using and then cooked various dishes. We enjoyed these in the peaceful garden of the compound. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Fantastic experience I would recommend.

I went to visit Made for healing. It was an interesting experience. I couldn’t help but notice there were 3 puppies running around his home ( where he did his healing - so on his property)The mother of the puppies was drinking from a dried up water fountain and one of the three puppies vomited in front of me. This was just after the New Year, it was extremely hot and humid. When we arrived we were offered cold water from the fridge ( you can see the fridge from the waiting area) .
And all the dogs had no drinking bowl to drink from. I looked!
I asked Made wife who provide water to us ‘where do the dogs drink from) and she pointed to the dried up water fountain. I said it wasn’t clean or sufficient and the puppies couldn’t reach. She then offered a bowl of fresh water from the fridge for the puppies. Please can everyone help to educate so we can help theses innocent animals, when you visit Made please remind them their dogs are not just for publicity)m they have needs too and there is also a free desexing program in Ubud run by BAWA who will pick up the dogs desex for free and return the dogs back. Why isn’t this happening in Made spiritual sanctuary? He makes enough money $30 per person 😳🤔

We had the best time at this cooking class! We were picked up from our Seminyak Hotel then treated to the local markets (only for locals) then taken to their house for the cooking class. We were welcomed warmly and given a cold drink on arrival. We were educated about the Balinese way of life, their culture and traditions. Our host
was funny and her English was very good. She made the entire experience an absolute pleasure. The cooking facilities were clean and modern however you are outside undercover and there was still a lot of tradition. So don’t expect stainless steel bench tops! We made 9 dishes and they were happy to accommodate to any health requests. This was a highlight of our trip! Completely worth doing!!!

My girlfriend and I had the most amazing time at the cooking class.
After being picked up from our accomodation we enjoyed a walk through the local market.
Then we were taken to the our cooking class where we warmly met by Omang. What an absolute sweetheart she was! Her boyfriend and herself made us feel like we were with old friends.
The cooking class was excellent , the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the sticky black and white pudding for dessert.
Would recommend this activity highly to anyone.

We're a family of 5 with kids age 14, 12 and 7. I wasn't sure when I booked how suitable it would be for the children but I was quickly reassured - this was a fabulous afternoon/evening for us all. The family compound, in which the cooking school is based, is absolutely beautiful and the large kitchen area is perfecly equipped with a mixture of traditional and modern technology. We learnt so many interesting things about Balinese culture and the food was undoubtedly the best of our entire holiday. Thanks so much for having us.

Enjoyable experience for a person who has never tried this b4...I’d recommend 👍
Maybe I should’ve gone last year with my ex-girlfriend and I wouldn’t be here now looking for some answers or direction to this life. I’m content in Bali thanks Made!

From the very start of this cooking class we were given information on how the Balinese lived and as we were in a traditional Balinese house this was shown to us.
It was so well run, highly organised and clean. All the food made was amazing and full of flavour.
My mum and i who went are vegetarian and this was not an issue whatsoever!
We were treated like family from the very start and had alot of fun and learnt alot.
If you are in Bali this is an authentic cooking experience that you can't miss out on!

What a great experience! The class was educational with a nice cultural perspective. The class started off with a tour and explanation of the local food market including the ingredients that we would be using in the class and herbal medicine applications.
Omang our hostess was a wealth of information about Balinese cultural practices and customs as well as the meaning of the different elements of the family compound. Her English is fabulous and all questions were answered well. The meal we created was well organized, thoughtful and complete. We were a party of four and were joined by two other traveller. We had a fabulous time, made new friends and had a great meal together.
Would highly, highly recommend!
