The hiking around Mulanje Massif isn't that strenuous if you're used to hiking, but the hike to the peak is rough. It's mostly rock climbing and walking up steep, sheer rock faces. You definitely need a guide to hike to Sapitwa! There are only a...More

We purchased the food in a nice supermarket in Blantyre. Food on the way is not good enough. We organized a guide and 4 porters on the spot and without any previous arrangement , at the forestry house in Likhubula. We also arranged for accommodation...More

A group of 6 wanted to do a 3 day hike to the peak, but plans were scuppered by the weather. The hiking itself was very enjoyable, and finished at the waterfall.

We have been twice, not to go on top but to hike around. Consider visiting Lujeri and the park. Run away from the guides at the entrance of the park. Get a guide at the park's office.

Mount Mulanje is very beautiful, hikes alternating between rough and steady. Paths are very well set. Mountain huts are great and well equiped with matresses en a fireplace. Local guides do a great job showing you around the place. We did a three day hike...More

We are two hikers hoping to keep costs low by finding other hikers to join. Does anyone have suggestions on how to find and join other groups? Is there a hostel or cheap place to stay where hikers would pass through? Can we just wait at the park office? Also, we plan to hike next week (December 14, 2016). Is it too late to hike around (and/or summit)?

The best place to stay at the bottom of the mountain is Mulanje motel, and over the mountain is CCAP hut! Near to the peak and natural swimming pool. Contact Juma a professional experienced and Tour guide to help you
