Tamtoc is one of the primary archeological sites of the Huasteca culture, and this site is interesting because of the predominance of women (remains found) and female figurines discovered during excavations. It is a large site (133 hectares/329 acres) with many buildings/structures still uncovered (over 250 are mapped, 70 have been excavated). It is off the beaten track, however, if you have an interest in ancient cultures and are adventurous, I recommend a stop on your way through the Huasteca Potosina area.
