The Peace Pole is not easy to find but if you know where the VFW is you will find it on the grounds. Nice memorial with a good intention.

Reading about the inscription in each side is interesting. This is at the VFW and doesn't have any signage from the road or even at the VFW. It sits in the field across from first parking lot. Not something I would drive for miles to see but if in the area check it out.

We stop by after reading about in a local paper. Without this who would know, what a shame. They need to plant some nice shade trees around. We stop only for o short time due to the heat and riding on a motorcycle.
If you only can spare five mintues please stop!!!1

There are thousands of Peace Poles all over the world but this one in Stone County is amazing as it's one of two made out of stone! Each of the 4 sides of the Peace Pole say, "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in different languages. The bronze plaque tells the story of why the four languages were chosen.

The stone pole sits in a beautiful setting surrounded by four stone benches, in the seat of Stone County no less. I am delighted that the community has chosen to light the monument up at night, giving it the dignity and recognition it deserves. The Peace Pole project is intended to bring people together and inspire peace worldwide. Japan planted the first peace pole in 1955. Since then, peace poles have been erected in over 180 countries. Located near the VFW, this Peace Pole is not clearly marked and fairly easy to overlook/miss (i.e., we had to backtrack while looking for it). The pole surrounding area are in a small field across from a parking lot. Early spring at time of our visit, but the grass area around the pole didn't appear to be mowed or maintained.

The Peace Pole itself is very well done and has an interesting personalized twist to who it represents and why. Not sure I would go out of my way to drive miles to see it, but the pole was worth the effort to visit and view while we were passing through Mountain View for other activities.
