This is a fun place to visit. The music is all acoustical; the performeers mostly local; the price is whatever you want to donate. They pass the hat at the halfway point.
Very good music. Open on Fridays and Sundays. Highly recommend.

Mountain View is known for their love of Folk Music; the Jimmy Driftwood Barn did not disappoint. Jimmy Driftwood Barn is a "must" while in Mountain Home. The local musicians are great great. The town and people are very passionate about their music and are passing this passion on to the next generation. The night we visited we were privileged to hear one of the best fiddle players we ever heard; she was nine years old. Truly amazing. There is no charge to get in the door, however they do pass a basket around asking for donations. This is a casual and very fun way to spend the evening.

When you pull into the parking lot, your first impression may well be "why would I want to walk into that mess?" Don't worry, it may look a mess but that is part of their charm. They are just simple country performers and they like to poke fun at themselves with no apologies about who they are. As one lady on stage said with a smile "Bet you're surprised that we're wearing shoes."
The building is not a barn. It's a large place where the locals meet a few times a week and perform. But to perform you have to be good and they are all very good. Gospel to bluegrass to mountain music, they perform it all. It looked like a poor man's Grand Ol Opry. Each act came on and did three songs, sometimes the musicians played with other groups, they interacted with each other and the show really kept moving. They play for free, they just pass the hat for donations for upkeep on the building. They are only there for the love of playing their music. How can you not love that?

My family and I stopped at The Barn to enjoy the singing and playing Friday nite 8/8/14. Like grandkids do (ages18 months to 5 years) they got tired and were not able to keep quiet, so my daughers were taking them back to the hotel to put them to bed. We were followed out by the Emcee and treated very rude and told to take our kids home and don't come back. Seems like he was more worried about not getting any donations than he expected. Unknowing to him, my wife and I were going to stay and we offered him money, but we were told to leave also. You had your day Mr. Emcee, but what goes around comes around. The music was great but the Emcee is rude and very arrogant! Johnny Kelly, Hazen Arkansas.

I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the local talent appearing at the barn. There was lots of it too. There were over twenty sets and even guest performances by talent from Louisiana. All were great and what impressed me was the age diversity of the performers from early teens to don't mention. I am very glad that we included this stop on our trip.

A must see to experience music from the early settlers, an interactive show that allows the viewer to become actively involved in the singing and fun.

A wonderful experience. Went backstage during a short intermission and chatted with some of the performers. If you are in the area (Little Rock-Branson, etc.) you have to drive over and take in at least one of the shows. Take your video camera! P & J, Castle Rock, Colorado

This is one place you don't want to miss when you are in Mountain View. A lot of the local artists play here. Anyone can play here you just sign up when you come in. When Jimmy Driftwood was alive he would be playing here every Friday and Sunday evening. This is great entertainment. A is passed during intermission.

We went to a Sunday evening show at the Jimmy Driftwood Music Barn in Mountain View, Ar. The atmosphere was totally laid-back & friendly. With a variety of old church pews & folding chairs, you could sit wherever you wanted. A basket was passed about halfway through for donations & all the donations go toward keeping the JD Music Barn operating. The performers were all local folks who love folk music! Some were really good, but none professional but that was one of the things we enjoyed - regular folks, enjoying the music they love. If you’re looking for a professional, slicked-up music show, this probably isn’t for you. But if you love folk music, mountain music & the genuiness of the people who are keeping it alive, you will enjoy an evening at the JD Music Barn. And if you don’t know anything about Jimmy Driftwood, look him up on the internet. A fascinating man & his life story!!
