I only give one star because no star isn’t an option. I never go in and write reviews but am still upset! We traveled there from South Texas, staying in Hot Springs and the main thing I wanted to do was come here to shop and mine! I grew up with a geology teacher for a mother, which is who told me about the place, and was excited to go spend my one and only full day there at their place before having to head home. When my husband and I arrived we were impressed with the options just outside. When we went inside to shop and arrange to join the mining experience we were completely put off. As we walked in the older lady behind the counter didn’t even acknowledge us until I said something to her first. Then got a half hello and that’s it. I thought maybe she was just having a bad day. So I went on looking around. Maybe 30 seconds later an older couple walked in and they got a warm welcome and she asked how they were doing. I was a little annoyed but went on about my business. We found a piece of Labradorite that we wanted to purchase and it was 4.00 something a pound. Stood in line as she went through each little item of the person in front of us as she inspected things and took a little off the price for the lady, and weighed each little item. My husband and I then walked up.... she didn’t say anything to us... not like hey give me a second and I’ll be with you... nothing. Just stood in silence for a few minutes and then asked if we needed a price on it. We didn’t ask for a price, was just going to purchase the item. She then proceeded to punch a bunch in the calculator, never weighed the item and gave a ridiculous price of 160.00. Then turned and started doing something else. I was fuming at that point so we grabbed it and put it back and started trying to figure out how she came up with that! There’s no way that rock weighed over 25lbs! My husband carried it around for 20 minutes while we looked around. She never even weighed it! We left and went back to Hot Springs, wasted all that time and found the same rock, almost the same size for for 65.00 and it had more color to it!! The only thing I could think of is that my husband has full sleeve tattoos on both arms and she just straight up judged us and assumed the worst! We had several hundred dollars I was prepared to spend there for myself and a gift for my mom and that’s how they treat people! Shame on you! Terrible customer service! Stop at one of the other places on the way in and save you some time! I’d imagine they treat paying customers better also!

Constance was our driver, she is GREAT! We took my 2 grandbuddies, 10 & 5, they love the crystal mine. The 10 yr old has been to the diamond mine and another crystal mine, he says Wegner's mine is THE BEST. Wear old clothes & shoes, carry your own digging tools or use theirs. There is shade to sit under, they provide water (we took our own) Definitely a good day & memories made.

I am traveling solo with my dog and picked this place based on the good reviews and that it’s dog friendly. Boy, was I glad I did! Small groups of people and quartz galore! Plus the equipment rental was included in the price. The kids there were having a blast and I felt like I was a kid all over again. I would put this as a must see! Be sure to bring water, snacks and sunscreen. A camping chair might also come in handy.

This is a super fun activity. We found all sorts of quartz crystal points in the dig. They also have a large selection of geodes and obsidian in their shop. We arrived in a Class C RV. You enter this property on a decent road between two pillars. The road is at a deceptively sharp angle to the pillars. Unfortunately, this angle caused my rolled up awning to be torn on by the right hand pillar cap. This will be an expensive visit to Wegner Quartz Crystal Mines. I strongly suggest to the owner that they rework the entry road so that it passes straight between the pillars. Factoring in the road's angle to the pillars, the pillars are not far enough apart.

Hi! We are so sorry to hear about your mishap and we are glad you informed us. Our entrance is a 12 foot wide opening hand made from quartz crystals. As it isn’t something that can be reworked easily we made sure upon creation that it would be wide enough to accommodate most visiting vehicles. Unfortunately, accidents do happen and we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit anyway. We hope to see you back again.
