One of our favorite experiences ever!
Jan 2020 • Family
We had one of our favorite tours ever with Ecoturismo la Pancha! It was a bit last minute, but we wanted a kayaking adventure in Patagonia while we were in Puerto Chacabuco and so happy we came across this one! It’s a family owned business that really cares about giving a unique experience. We had two children (ages 4 & 6 years old) and they set us up with double kayaks! The weather was typical Patagonia weather (rainy, sunny, cold, warm!) and the setting was absolutely gorgeous on the lake and river. Half way through, we went to the mangroves in the river to enjoy a snack and matte- what fun!! Then back to the grounds where we were greeted with a warm cozy fire and delicious array of fresh made Chilean snacks and hot chocolate. Even fresh salmon ceviche!! Yum!!! The family is so nice, the setting beautiful and experience is truly one of a kind!! Highly highly recommend!!!

Lots of fun with such a nice guide
Mar 2019 • Family
We did both horseback riding and, the next day, kayaking. The horses were very easy to control and seemed well treated. While the route was nothing special - around their estate and then up a mountain - we had a lot of fun! The horse enjoyed cantering and did very well on the steep muddy paths. Maybe not for beginning riders though? The kayaking was also a lot of fun - if a lot more physical work. The water was serene and river and the surrounding mountains so beautiful! The guide was really nice, with "good-enough" English, who gave us great ideas for the rest of our visit. It was also nice meeting his family and having coffee and delicious apple cake. Thanks for a great time, Ricardo!

“The Best Day of My Life,” he said
Feb 2019 • Family
We can’t recommend it enough - the above is a direct quote from our children.

Ricky picked us up with a cowboy hat and a van with seats (and seat belts) for everyone. Just two days before we had been madly WhatsApp-ing last minute plans for our Holland American Cruise stop in Puerto Chacabuco (Puerto Aysén).

We were two families, age 4 to 47, Mexican and American, experienced riders and others who had never been around horses before...and everyone left with huge smiles. The emergency room physician among us was happy with the safety protocols and precautions; the diplomat with the professionalism and the service; the social worker loved the real family atmosphere, genuine conversations, and candid insights into life in Patagonia.

My husband, not easily impressed, has plans to come back to visit Ricky next year for a fly fishing/camping adventure...

Tea in front of snow capped mountains, skipping rocks at the creek, wooded trails led by young children, and grandfather leaning against a shovel to explain the daily tasks of the garden and livestock...all this plus reliable, prompt scheduling and communication.

To top it all off, we accidentally left a bag behind - Ricky sent it to us without fail.

This is Patagonia.

We wanted to go horseback riding in Chili and we did! We had a great time with Ricardo and his lovely family. The two of us went for a tour with Ricardo and his dogs in the beautiful area of Aysen. It was gorgeous! Ricardo told us a lot about Patagonia, his English is very good. Beautiful horses and a beautiful place. We ate the Calafate berry and the legends tells that anyone who ates this berry will return to beautiful Patagonia!
Thank you so much, we had the time of our lives! Peter en Ellen Spelde

Highly recommended kayaking excursion
Apr 2018 • Solo
I did a 3-hour kayaking excursion with La Plancha on the beautiful Lago de los Palos. My English-speaking guide was Ricardo, one of the three sons in this family-owned business. He and his father picked me up from Puerto Aysen and drove to their camping site just outside the city. (Though I didn’t stay there, it looked like a very nice site, with modern facilities and a cool guincho.) The kayaking was great: the lake and its surroundings are very picturesque and peaceful. I was treated to a mate, snack and later coffee. Ricardo told me about the history of the region etc. The whole family is very friendly. I highly recommend this excursion. PS You can contact Ricardo through WhatsApp on the number listed on La Pancha’s website.

Horseback Riding
Feb 2018 • Couples
We had a short day in port and decided to go horseback riding at Ecoturismo La Pancha. Ricky met us at the port and he and his grandfather drove us to their beautiful property. We arrived at their home where they had a sort of outdoor dining building for us to hang out in - that his father had built. The home and property were amazing: goats, cats, dogs, a turkey, and horses are kept there and it is nestled right on gorgeous creeks. His family was so friendly and wonderful and accommodating. Ricky's brother Ivan takes care of and readies the horses for the riders. Ricky took us all around the property and was so passionate about the history of the area. He took us to a viewing point where we let the horses rest and walked up to a small field. We hung out and he made us mate that we shared together with cookies and talked about the beautiful region, the culture, he answered our questions and told stories. It was so amazing and relaxing and gorgeous! Ricky is friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Afterward we headed back and his mother made us coffee while we relaxed under their patio and played with their kittens. Their 2 awesome dogs followed us the whole day. On the way back to the boat, with our limited time Ricky and his grandpa were nice enough to give us a short tour of town and walk around a little bit. We could have spent all day out with Ricky riding around and admiring the magnificent landscape. If youre the type that doesnt want to give your cruise line an exorbitant amount of money to be herded like cattle onto a bus with 100 people - go with Ricky. Have an intimate and relaxing day of beauty courtesy of a hard working and super friendly family! If I'm ever back in Aisen I will be visiting them again!

Kind and caring family owned business
Dec 2017 • Solo
I did a "cabalgata" (horse ride) with ecoturismo la Pancha and absolutely loved it!! This family run business will make you feel at home as they share with you the history and culture of the area. I also highly recommend the "city tour" which you can take before or after a cabalgata or kayak tour. Don't let the name fool you. They don't just take you around the city, they take you around the countryside, bridges, waterfall and explain the histoy of the whole area.

For me the connection with the people is what makes a real difference in these kinds of experiences and Ricardo and his colleagues and family took very good care of me! Including giving me advice on how to travel on my own and offering me extra help to get around. I was determined to hitch hike to my next destination and they gave me their number and insisted I text when I arrived to my destination to ensure I got there safely.

I absolutely recommend this business if you want a personal touch and a family experience! The family who runs it are absolutely lovely and caring people.

Great Kayaking ...Lovely People
Nov 2017
We had a wonderful experience kayaking with Ecoturismo la Pancha, with a huge warm welcome from all the family who took great care of us.
We had booked a cruise starting in San Antonio Chile and wanted to experience part of the real Chile as we travelled south down the coast. On a search of the web, we came across Ecoturismo La Pancha which provided kayaking tours. Via email we communicated with Lorena who arranged a pickup from the port in Puerto Chacabuco. She gave us a picture of the 4x4 that would be there to collect us. We also paid a little extra for a translator, which we highly recommend. Our guides found us first, being the only visitors carrying big bags with all our towels and change of clothes. We were greeted with great hugs of joy, a wonderful start to our trip. A suggestion for anyone doing this trip is to arrange the pick up time, at least an hour and a half after arrival, as the tendering process from the cruise ship, is a very long affair.
They drove us to their farm, a 30 minute drive from the port near a town called Aysen. We changed in rather “cosy” facilities and were then driven to a lake, this being the start point of our kayaking trip. We were accompanied by Fernando, Ricardo and their father who sorted all the equipment and life jackets. The scenery was lovely and the lake then turned into a slow moving river. We were lucky with the weather and the water was mirror calm, so we could marvel at the scenery and the backdrop of beautiful mountains. Special trees. birds and bird sounds were pointed out to us, and it was a beautiful, leisurely tranquil trip. After about 2 hours kayaking, we arrived back at the farm.
We met 4 year old Fernandita again, the youngest member of the family. She can’t wait to join the family business. Over a drink of Mati, we chatted to the family and took a walk round their farm accompanied by, not only a very excited little Fernandita, but by their dog and cat as well ! It felt like we were extras in “The Incredible Journey”.
We had a great time. It gave us a real feel of how families live in that part of Chile. We were then give a tour of Aysen and Lorena made sure we had plenty of time to be dropped back at the port.
Thank you all at Ecoturismo la Pancha for such a great day !

Relaxing afternoon
Nov 2017 • Solo
I wanted to have a horse ride around Puerto Aysén and The hotel where I stayed suggested me to go to la Plancha!
The owner is friendly, kind and funny and he talks English ( it is difficult to find someone speaking English). The horse was wonderful and reliable, she was not afraid of anything.
I had a relaxing afternoon here, having fun, enjoying the beautiful landscape and learning about the history of the place told by the owner. Furthermore I got the opportunity to taste the typical “tea” named Mate.

I suggest it to everyone :)

A Friendly and complete Kayak Excursion
Nov 2017 • Couples
Our cruise ship offered a Kayak excursion through this family owned business. The owners are bubbly and present, and quite welcoming to this beautiful property. There were not enough shoes, which was ok. We were well guided although the guides did not understand English, ok for me but I wonder about an emergency. We were misinformed by our cruise ship - we DID need water clothes or a change of clothes; I was completely wet and very cold by the time we finished. Further my clothes were stained by a substance in the Kayak. However, it was wonderful - all to be expected. My only reason for a "4" rating is that the place we "took out" was very rough, and one gentleman in our group had much difficulty in disembarking - in fact it took 4 grown men to get him out of the kayak and up the embankment. In the future I suggest building a small dock, or identify another place to "take out".
