This monument tell us about history of these parts and for that reason is very important for local people. All of us (visitors from other continents) should respect memory of hard life and struggles of exceptionally brave people who came to settle here. We should...More

Nothing to write home about. It is a nice sheep farmer monument. There are a handful throughout chile though... took away from experience.

You have to go see the ovejero statues here in Coyhaique. A lot of poeple who come to Coyhaique get a picture done with them. They recently re-did the whole park and it is really nice. Your kids will enjoy playing on the playground.

The horseback ovejero (sheep worker caring for a pack of sheep and lambs) is very typical of Coyhaique. Because of traffic it is harder to get in beside the sculpture. The monument was donated to Coyhaqiue by the city of Puna Arenas who got a...More

The monument is placed in the main street. There is no explanation of the history of the monument; the good times for sheep farming seems to be passed.

Not worth going out of your way for at the moment as the park is being renovated, you can't get near and whilst you can get a distant photo the hoardings behind spoil the view. Looks likely the works will go on for a while...More

With historical reasons, this monument is great for a picture and would be great for children to visit. It is not too far from the square either.

This small monument is recognized worldwide, so go grab a selfie! The place is well cared for, and will always be a nice stop.

Monument built in 1944 to the shepherds who tend to sheep in this part of Chile. During the summer, the monument is surrounded by a large number of rose bushes.
