This was a really fun tour! But be prepared to be VERY muddy. The cave is beautiful. They took us to Macao Beach, which was very pretty but COVERED in very aggressive beach vendors. They shouldn't take tourists there. But overall, great!

Do not use these people, after I was told a specific amount for a service I was charged a complete different amount. They took advantage that I’m American who did not know the conversion I was charged 142 dollars for simple earrings that we had agreed on $100

We went on a half day trip. Picked us up from our hotel in a neat looking open back bus. Quick trip to an indigenous nature park to swim in caves and to sample fresh cocoa tea! Then to a beach, and on our trip, it just so happened to rain as we we're heading back to the start so we got absolutely covered in mud which made it so much more fun! They even had showers at the end!

The ride itself on the buggy was quite fun driving through the mud. Do be careful as young children as little as toddlers come running out into the narrow streets and paths asking for money and sometimes offering hand-drawn pictures or picked flowers. The scenery is very saddening with trash everywhere and to see the poor condition the locals live in. The worst part of this adventure is when you arrive, it’s very confusing. You are led into a shopkeeper’s trap. You can’t tell who works here or who you can trust. A man approached us with papers to complete and then whisked us to his shop, offered a key for a locker (in his shop, not the adventure business or so it appeared) but then as my family looked at the hand-crafted trinkets and jewelry and asked the price he would not give it instead they trick you (put what you like in this dish) and they negotiate and try to close the sale. Nothing is marked with a price. For just a few necklaces worth at most $50.00usa the man says “I give you good price, $500” LOL. We were suckers and ended up giving him $250. They are good scammers for sure. Then when you arrive at the beach, you have to walk a great distance full of mud, on a trail of trash and horse manure to another trap. You cannot enjoy the beach as there awaits you people trying to forcefully sell you pictures from your own phone of rabbid looking animals, expensive bottles of warm beer and more. The adventure buggy staff are all part of the setup. This was disappointing. THEN at the end when you drive back through the trail of trash and poor children, when you get back to the adventure HQ, more selllers accosting you to buy $100 photos of you and your group. I will say the photos are nice. We paid $80 which we normally wouldn’t do but they caught a shot we really liked. Long slow ride to/from resort which was sold to us as only 10 mins away. Triple that. We were almost late for dinner on arrival back to our resort because the whole thing took an extra hour. Best advice to enjoy this excursion is for the buggy ride itself only, and the cool splash in the man-made cenote/cave. I could have done entirely without the shops and the beach and spent more time in the cenote. say NO to everything sellers approach you for without hesitation!

Let’s start by addressing that you are nothing more to them but cattle, cattle that have money to spend and should be herded. We had high hopes for the boogies, thinking that we might see something neat that would be out of the ordinary for the DR. From the moment you are jammed into the transport(ours exhaust exited at the front of the passenger compartment keeping you begging for oxegen), you will know this will be torture. As soon as you arrive, you are herded into the main building so the first set of peddlers can sell you something for almost an hour before takeoff. Okay, finally time to leave, let’s go make the best of it! Not the case. You slowly travel 2kms(1.2 miles) while your humanity is being drained by the shoeless children, dressed in rags, begging for a dollar, to the “blue hole”. Upon arrival, you are then herded to a man made 4’ deep pool that is very cold. After 10 minutes you are then herded to a “show” of Dominican culture? Then herded to a chocolate tasting/cigar making joke. Now mind you, don’t dare to to walk to you buggy to take a drink of water, NO, your “guides” will promptly inform you that you do not leave your group(who are 10 yards away). You then board your buggy and parade back through the pitiful children for 7kms(4.3 miles) to what truly looked like a landfill that is now being used as a parking lot. Trash, broken glass, and any imaginable junk is everywhere. As we are herded toward the walkway to the beach, we realized that “landfill” was actually the more correct term for this area. When entering the Macao public beach, you are once again bombarded with “buy my junk” or “hey buddy, white or green? Coke or smoke?”. The beach is no more lovely than the beach at your resort that is steps from your room. Alas, without enough time to finish my beer we are herded back to the buggies to finish the excruciating 7kms ride back to the main compound. Unfortunately several of the poorly maintained buggies broke down not to be revived along the way, at which time, strangers were jammed into other people buggies to complete the trip back. Once arriving at the compound you are then forced to sit in the heat only so the can try to sell you pictures of your hopefully forgetable trip. When you are finally at the point of heat exhaustion/stroke, you are then herded back to your hotel. Now, the driver never drove over 50kms per hour to get to the trip, however, we astonishingly were flying along between 90-100 kms to get back, clever way of saying that you have a 4 hour excursion. Btw, never was there an off of water during the entire time. Please save yourself. We’ve been on dozens of excursions, this one is hands down, bottom of the barrel.
