This beach was exhausting to go to. You can’t walk down the boardwalk without dozens and dozens of men getting in your face insisting you come to their restaurant, hear about their boat tours, look in their shop. I’m used to that in markets around the world, but these jerks get right into your personal space. A bunch of them catcalled me and my friends, too, saying vulgar things about us in Spanish assuming we wouldn’t understand.

Beach chairs cost to sit in. Kind of obnoxious, but an honest way for a person to make a living. I guess beach chair rentals sell themselves without too much aggression towards customers.

There is some coral and cool fish, but very small and hard to find if you don’t already know where it is. The cruise ship pollution has mostly killed the reefs here. We did take a snorkeling boat tour for a couple of hours one day with Eric International. That was nice. They showed us the 3 small patches of coral that remain.

This is the biggest (longest) beach in the Sosua area. There are scores of restaurants and retail shops along the back of the beach. The access area is generally cluttered and messy. No noticeable maintenance or litter control.

The beach itself it wide and soft sand. Sombrellos and chairs are available for rent: maybe 600 Dominican pesos for four chairs under the trees.

The surf was really rough and strong the day we were there. Locals told us that it was the strongest/roughest they had ever seen the surf. We had limited ability to get into the ocean...five foot waves did knock people down as they attempted to get past the breakers.

If I was in the area going to the beach. I'd recommend Cabaeta or Alicia beaches 10 km further east. Less crowded, cleaner beaches, and a better experience.

This area is crawling with locals who harass and try to take your money. It is truly unsafe. When we arrived we were offered a table to sit down if we ordered something from the restaurant (Restaurant Red Bar) so we ordered two drinks and paid $5 each for two rough looking beach chairs. After a bit of a hassle about moving the chairs in the sun (apparently they all have designated spots) then we ended up paying $20 for two drinks. But as we were leaving they tried to get another $10 for our table that was supposedly free because we didn't order food also in addition to our overpriced drinks. They also cheat you on the exchange rate for USD. They also act like they don't understand English but they do. It is all a scam and to be avoided. People bother you the entire time with things or services to sell. Very unsafe

We truly love this beach and the services offered. If you purchase food or drink, your chairs & umbrella are free. Parking is only $2 but the lot isn't large, so go early. We had foot massages at $20 for 30 minutes and they were great. Ice cream cones are only $1 and they were good! We took a snorkel trip with Georgie on the Chamaquita and it was fantastic. Clear, calm water.

A day in the Dominican Republic involves the occasional bit of liquid sunshine. It comes, it pours and then the sun comes out again. We spent a fun half day at the beach, in the water before it started to rain. Be prepared to be pestered by locals trying to ply you with food menu's from the many restaurants along the strip. The menu doesn't give you all the details, so be sure to ask for accurate pricing, in writing to avoid additional charges when you receive the bill. It costs to sit down on the lounge chairs & it costs to have an umbrella, beware before you sit! There are women who will try to give you a sample massage in the hopes you'll book a full service. There are guys who will offer you the chance to go jet-skiing or on the banana boat & they're quite persistent until you say No Gracias Senor! Last, but not least, before you book a tour here, be explicit with your driver, for they will quote a price, but not tell you until it's time to leave that there are parking charges ... the views on this beach are incredible. The waves can be rough, the drop off is sharp & if you're not a good swimmer, be very careful!

I am a disabled person who grew up near the ocean and spent many hundreds of hours in the water. After moving to Canada and becoming disables, I am not able under normal circumstances to actually enjoy the experience any more. However, when I went to Sosua beach there were so many people there who were happy to help me over the sand and support me so I could at least stand in the sea. I love the boardwalk experience with all the vendors and almost all of them were more than happy to rush off and get me a chair while I looked over their goods, even when they knew I wasn't there to buy anything. One helped us get food at a restaurant there and the sea bass was absolutely amazing. Love the beach and the people.

Sosua beach is a natural wonder, protected by a bay that houses many corals with tropical fish. The waters are very clear, it is a good swimming beach and you can snorkel straight from the beach if you know how to do it. Many vendors of food, drinks, water sports and fresh coconut are available from early morning to sunset. My favorite spots are the Mofongo King, Malibu bar, and Montanara Italian restaurant.

Best beach on the North Coast ! Friendly vendors - great food served - parking close for 5 bucks or park on the main road nearby. Excellent beach sheltered and first reef close enough to swim to. Highly recommend !

Nice beach, calm waters compared to rest of north coast as it is in a bay. Good for my disabled son. Be very aware, the road next to the beach is not for driving - it is all street vendors. You will also have to pay a local for everything- parking, beach chairs, table to eat, more if you want to go snorkeling. It's a money grab for the locals for tourism. Also tour boats pull right up on the beach while you are swimming instead of going to a dock somewhere.
