This was my second time visiting Gokite in Cabarete. The last time was in 2010. I would describe myself as an experienced beginner. I found Radek to be a very professional and competent instructor with an assuring focus on safety. Gokite is a well stocked outfit with equipment in excellent condition. They use Slingshot kites which I found easy to fly and relaunch. Overall, I had a very positive experience, but for the weather. During my 6 day visit we had two rainy days, two windy days and two calm days. Richard was very helpful both prior to visiting and while I was in Cabarete. He was always in touch with me about conditions and when it might be the best time to have a lesson. His prices are very reasonable and he was good about not trying to oversell a package deal that would not have been obtainable given the weather conditions. If you have the luxury of flexibility, take Gokite’s recommendation of keeping an eye on the weather and book your visit at the last minute when the wind is sufficient, greater than 15 knots, and there is minimal rain in the forecast.

I booked my lessons on the recommendation of a friend and what an outstanding experience it was. First, instruction is one-on-one and you have the same instructor over multiple days. Over 4 days, the instructor took me through each step - from safety to flying the kite to riding - in a way that was not intimidating and really got me excited. Richard and his team of instructors and supervisors will definitely be seeing me again (and again). If you want to learn - this is the place to do it !!!

This is my second time taking lessons here. It’s a well run school and Richard the owner is very knowledgeable with knowledgeable instructors and good equipment. They also do supervision for more experienced liters. Really nice people and world class instruction. Radik was my instructor and he was awesome and really focused on safety. Highly recommend!

In 1 week with them I went from someone who can barely waterstart to an independent kitesurfer. They also helped my girlfriend to progress a lot. The staff is very responsible, helpful, friendly and they definitely know what they are doing. Richard, the owner, is very accommodating and trying to make sure that every client has a good experience. After our lessons we had unlimited supervision for a couple of days as a part of our package and he would proactively message us every day to let us know that the wind is good and we should come. One advice for those who will take lessons/supervision - don't be shy to ask your instructors, assistants to try launch, carry, land the kite, check set-up, etc if you're trying to learn. They are trying to be helpful every second so if you want to become independent it's better to ask proactively ;)
