We spent a day river tubing, eating a great Dominican meal and taking in beautiful views with our family, including a 9 and 6 year old. Carlos and Roberto were excellent guides and quickly became part of our family. The river is very clear, the water temperature was perfect and everyone enjoyed their time, including our college age children. Fernando was an excellent driver which is a not easy. The lunch was served at a small private house over looking the river with great views of the value. If you are looking to get away from the beach and do something relaxing that every can enjoy we recommend this trip.

did this lazy river trip with our two older grand daughters and our tour guide was roberto. what a fun time. our guide and driver were very attentive and made sure we were always safe and secure. they picked us up in front of our condo and the drive into the mountains to get to the river and a treat in it self. we saw many small villages and the scenery was incredible it was nice to see places away from the tourist area of cabarete and once we arrived to our destination which was a beautiful casa on a mountain or hill top and the views were spectacular. after we drop off our stuff we went down to the river and did our adventure of the lazy river and at the end you had the choice of doing a zip line and dropping into the water a few if us did it and was exciting and there was a dairy farm there and there was interesting as the farmer has to do everything by hand nothing like in north amerca. we walked back up the hill to the casa and had a wonderful drinks and a great lunch. i would recommend this trip for anyone who want a lazy trip and lots of fun and into doing something different. again ask for roberto as he was the best

We went on the tour of El Choco National Park with guides Carlos and Robert. It was awesome! We had 4 adults and 5 boys (ages 9-14). We learned a ton about the history of the DR and lots of native plants while walking through the beautiful rain forest. We saw several of the many limestone caves in the park, but the highlight was climbing down a ladder into one of them and getting to swim in the crystal clear water, by flashlight! One of the guides swam with us (and helped one person at a time climb up to jump off of a rock), while the other held lights and took tons of photos and video for us. I highly recommend the company. They are very professional, knowledgeable, and fun!

On a girls trip looking for adventure and we definitely found it with Carlos! He and his team took us on a steep hike down to the canyon. By time we got to the water in our wet suits we were so ready for the cool crisp beautiful blue water. There were multiple lower jumps, 3 high jumps with one option of repelling. Carlos took amazing photos and videos the entire time. It does require a pretty steep and strenuous hike up out of the canyon. There was an option to ride a donkey but we went for the full hike. Long hard but amazing day! The water is so worth the hard work. And Carlos was patient and supportive with our age diverse group. It won’t be easy but things this beautiful never are!

My friend and I chose the cascading excursion in Ciguapa Falls and man, did we have a blast! It might have been my favorite day of the 8 that we were in the Dominican Republic. We got picked up at our place and everything was taken care of for the rest of the day from then on. Robert was out guide and Alvaro was our driver. Both were professional and safe (which you have to be), but also extremely fun and energetic. It was just me and my buddy, so almost like our own private excursion. This location was so beautiful and it was just such a blast to keep making our way down the river canyon for continuous waterfall cliff jumps in this serene setting. You stop at Blue Moon Cafe for some coffee and to suit up on the way to the falls, then stop back after the tour is done to get a huge, delicious lunch, which is much needed to recharge the batteries. We got great pics and videos afterwards as well! Just checked them out last night. Robert really is an awesome guide and Alvaro is a solid driver on those loco roads. Book this trip (especially with these two) and you'll be happy you did!!

Carlos & Maximo deliver the ultimate experience if you want to visit the falls. It was exactly as advertised, both of them were extremely friendly, and we felt our items were safe in the bus guarded by the driver. The falls themselves were great, very unique & some welcome exercise (.75 mi hike & then 1.5 hrs of navigating waterfalls with guides. Be aware that likely 800 cruisers will be doing it too.) Carlos & Maximo really shined after the falls tho. The lunch was a hearty local Dominican buffett, all you can eat, followed by basically as many cuba libres as you could drink on the ride back home. Carlos led the party. We got our moneys worth!

We booked a buggy tour with two families and the tour exceeded our expectations. Alexander the Great guided us through the countryside, along the beach and ended with a delicious meal on the beach. The paparazzi photographed the entire tour, totally worth it to buy the photos. This tour was the highlight of our trip and we will do it again when we come back to Puerto Plata. Be prepared to get dusty and wet! Iguana Mama was extremely responsive and professional.

Love love love this place! The money goes to helping fund a medical and dental clinic for the community. Our guide Robert was so fun and nice and taught me a bit of Spanish along the way. Diego was a quiet and gentle driver and got us over the 3 mile dirt road without much turbulence. This is our 2nd time visiting and I would come back again for sure.

Me and my partner booked the 7 waterfalls with Iguana Mama so we had something to do when it wasn’t windy at the beach. It was a really fun morning activity, we were picked up from our hotel at 8.30am and dropped back around 1pm. Carlos and the National Park team were great, we learnt a lot about the Dominican Republic and felt really safe throughout. “It’s a great time to experience the waterfalls as it’s pretty quiet due to covid. We also enjoyed a really yummy lunch and drank LOTS of rum.
We highly recommend Carlos and Iguana Mama. Thanks again guys!

My brother and I went on a trip to El Choco National Park in Cabarete through Iguana Mama. Our tour guide Robert was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and was prepared for everything (He gave us some pretty awesome ponchos for the rain). If you want to see some of the natural beauty of the DR, I would highly recommend going through Iguana Mama -- And if you have the option, book a tour with Robert, he knows how to have a good time!

What is the difference between the Canyoning And the falls? For example, the magic mushroom is that an excursion all by itself?

Hola Heidi! Canyoning involves rappelling as well as cliff jumping. Cascading is all cliff jumping. 27 Falls, and Ciguapa Falls are cascading. Magic Mushroom, Canyoning Supremacy and Rappellers Delight are canyoning. Each one is a separate tour.

I’m interested in the falls tour, but i am claustrophobic. How much of the tour is tight or enclosed spaces? I’m fine with the smaller drops and slides and the hike and the big pools. I can’t do caves or very narrow spaces or low ceilings. Is there many areas like this? If so are they avoidable or do you have to do through them?

It depends which Falls Tour you are interested in. Damajagua, Ciguapa Falls, Magic Mushroom, Canyoning Supremacy. We don't actually go into caves on any of them but, Damajagua for example has some narrow channels you'd have to swim through. Can you be more specific about the tour you are interested in please?

A group of 13 of us will be there end of March. Some very young and some "older". The kids in our group are 7, 12 and 13. Would the 7 year old be able to participate? Any concerns for the older ones (late 60s)?

Hi alinunez2! I'm guessing you are asking about the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua? If so, the minimum age is 8 but it somewhat depends on the child. If he or she is big for their age and a great swimmer then it would be ok. If the child is small then they would not be allowed to go. One option would be that an adult in the group stays with the youngest and they hike just to the first fall and can swim in the fresh river pool to wait for the rest of the family to come down. Everyone can then hike back to the visitor centre together for lunch and return to your ship or hotel. Regarding older people in the group, if they are in good physical condition, can hike for 45 minutes on the 12 Falls or 70 minutes for the Full 27 Falls they should be okay. We have taken people in their 70's but, they are seniors who are physically active in their daily lives. I hope that helps. Please feel free to contact me directly. Warm regards, Lidia

I'm not sure what you mean by hike. We don't offer just a hike but rather the 27 Waterfalls which you hike up to the top and then come down jumping, swimming and sliding through the lime stone canyon waterfalls and sluices. Tons of fun!

Sturdy River shoes like Keens or Tevas are great. We recommend your toes be protected because the hike is rocky and some of the slides a bit narrow.
