For first time visitors to Songkhla the Singora Tram Tour is a great way to see the city. The tour is free and starts outside the Prem Tinsulanonda Museum on Th Saiburi. The tour times are 9am,10am,11am,1pm,2pm and 3pm and takes about 45 minutes.
You take in all the major sights of Songkhla....old town, temples, beaches,Tang Kuan hill,Serpent (Naga) on the promenade etc.
The commentary is in Thai but that didnt bother me.Kids, especially, will love the tram and its good to take a video of the tram tour.
The tour is free but its optional if you want to give a tip.I think 100 baht would be acceptable.
You can also take a look in the Prem Tinsulonda Museum, where the tour starts, which is the birthplace of Thailands 16th Prime Minister....this is free,also....and there is a place where you can hire bicycles right next to the museum.

This tour took only about 45 minutes. As me and my sister were the only group of "passengers" that's why we are the VIPs. ;) The tour guide was kind and helpful, she explained in English to us whenever we passby a famous place/ building. We even tried banana ice-cream and took photos in front of the street art and the head of the Dragon. The beach Awesome trip I will say. 😁😁

On Thurs, Oct 4 I was the only person to show up for the 10am Tram Tour. The lady at the Prime Minister's house was kind enough to call 'someone' to come get me. Two women showed up; one to drive and not sure what the other one was for. Neither were smiling. We had a small issue with a car blocking the street so our tour was delayed a few minutes during the 'tour', but once on our way, the two tram employees did their best to drive as quickly as possible to get back to the starting point and dump me back off. They refused to do the entire route, would not slow down to allow me to get any photos in passing and they both seemed truly annoyed at my presence. I've actually taken the Tram Tour previously and it was wonderful, but the difference was that the previous tram employees obviously enjoyed their job much more than the present employees. It was fun and interesting last time I took it. This time however was a big disappointment and a waste of my time. I had planned to take the tour twice that day, once for photos and once for video. But that option was no longer possible. I would have even been happy to pay money for the privilege but it was obvious these two tram employees had other plans for their day. Kudos to the woman at the Prime Minister's House, though. She at least showed empathy to me. :(

We researched the free tram ride, and thought it would be fantastic to see the sights of Songkhla without getting heatstroke or trying to avoid the many monkey's running around!
The information said the 1st tram left at 9am, so we headed to the museum early, and we were told it would be 10.30am. So off for a coffee we went, returning at 10am, just to be sure.
A lady said we could sit down until it arrived and gave us booklets in English so we could see the route. We sat there until 10.25, then the same lady came to tell us that the tram had been involved in an accident, and that someone had cut the brake cables, so she was very sorry, but there would not be another tram until 3pm. We would have accepted this if we had not walked around the corner to see a number 2 tram loading up with tour passengers. When we asked, we were told it was a private tour and the next would be 3pm. 20 mins later, the number 4 tram went past, again full of tour passengers.
We had given up by now, so didn't bother, but more information and better signage would of helped!

It's frustrating when plans fall through, especially when you're hoping to enjoy the views from the Singora Tram in Songkhla on a Friday, only to find out it's not running.

Ask the staff just beside Phathammarong Museum for the timing. The tram should start every hour. Friendly and jovial guide and driver that can speak a little English gave us a tour around Songkhla only stopping by the Naga's head for 5mins to take photos. Overall a great experience and we gave some donation box at the end of the tour

It was our first visit to Songkhla and the best way to is to join the city tram tour.
The best part about this tour is they do stops at the food area (for us to try out some nice local food) and tourist spots (where we can take pic of monuments or views)
The tour guide also explains about the places we are passing and the history behind it.
You'll be passing the beach, temples, Naga (or better known as dragon - it comes it 3 parts the tail, the body and the head, so be aware of it), the museum and many more.
It is a free tour around the city but it would be nice to put some tips for a job well done by the guide and driver by putting it in the tip box they have infront of the tram.
