The facilities are outdated and not worth visiting. Our kids ran through the place in 5 minutes as the displays did nothing to catch their attention. The only attraction are the giant turtles, the rest are not interesting.

it is an aquarium but there is nothing much but a few shows. the price you pay for the entrance is not worth the show. need to improve to bring in the crowd.

Songkhla Aquarium houses many small tanks of fresh- and salt-water fish and one huge tank for the big fish and sea turtles. The show with a diver in the huge tank is a big hit with Thai visitors. The major downside is that admission costs a steep 300B for foreigners, probably too much for a casual visitor. Note that the aquarium is closed on Monday unless that’s a holiday; www.songkhlaaquarium.com. The aquarium is north of town. White sand beaches stretch along the sea farther south, and you have a view of Cat and Rat Islands offshore.

I have never ever seen anything as disappointing and shocking as this..
1. Aquariums are supposed to educate people, not show people that it is ok to dress up turtles, play with sharks and move around stingrays. All these animals can inflict serious injury and in some instances, death if provoked. The educational message should be about conservation and awareness not some circus act.
2. Green Turtles are a protected species under CITES Appendix I (the highest protection) so what you are doing is illegal, and by the way I have emailed CITES.
3. I am sure your sponsors (if they are legit) are not keen on being associated with this type of animal cruelty.. and yes they have been emailed too..
Not good at all, I feel let down by humans once again..

Aquarium's typically fall under 2 categories, those that strive to educate people on the marine life we have in the oceans while focusing on conservation and even research. Unfortunately the other type is Songkhla Aquarium which is happy to exploit any animals including protected species to make a bit of money.
Why do they need to dress animals up in costumes and interfere with how the animals are acting naturally instead of showing and educating people on the natural environment and activity? I guess it boils down to what they think would make more money and having absolutely no responsibility for actions.
Avoid this dodgy attraction at all costs!

The place is so rundown and the show is really simple and uninspiring. I’m amazed that they actually charge 300 baht per adult (200 per child) to enter this place. The show lasted only 15 minutes and there were not much fishes on display in their limited number of aquariums. Not recommended unless you really like to see marine life. There are a lot of better aquariums out there.

We went to the aquarium upon recommendation from our hotel. Researched it a little online and decided to give it a try. When we got there, there were just a couple cars at the aquarium. That should have been a sign, but it was a Friday, so we decided to go anyway. The cost for our family was 1000 baht (nearly US$30). At first my wife said no but then they offered for one of the kids to go free, so we thought for 800 baht why not. Unfortunately I should have listened to my wife (not the first time I've said this) because after watching the feeding time that lasted maybe 15 minutes, the rest of the aquarium took all of 20 minutes and that was it and we were ready to leave. Overpriced and just not worth the time or money. Better off spending half that amount and going to the Songkhla Zoo which includes several animal shows and use of a water park. Much cheaper and all day fun for the family.

Ticket was 300 Baht. Not many people were there when we visit this place. The place was abit run down and not much lightings. The cafe in the aquarium area does not have much to offer. Maybe you can bring along snacks and water bottle before visiting.
