An old town, street wall art is amazing, a cafe name Blue Smile is like an art gallery, 2 story w/ roof top dining, Sunset view n art will be a amazing sweet memories stay with you mind
Only thing it is running down, get prepared before u heading there, there won't be anything for you to shop, even a pack of cigarette is a difficulty
A beautiful lake with golden view will kill you filming

Absolutely terrific!

'Could have wandered around for ages and still be discovering new nooks and crannies, treasures and fascinating architecture. Welcoming and well-marked, this area of town is seriously switched-on to encouraging tourism whilst retaining its charm. Not to be missed!

A very pleasant place where you can enjoy the lake view and the walls decorated by local artists and drinking special tea or coffee with a peace of cake, to try Japanese cheese cake and banana cake.

A Trip in the Past

Old Songkhla is all around you when you walk the streets and quays of the old quarter. There are impressive temples, old buildings and museums and a number of quay side areas where you can get views across the bay and see the ships and boats going about their daily routine. Early morning or late afternoon when it is not too hot is ideal but there are many watering holes where you can partake of a cold drink or ice cream.

A charming vacation
Jan 2020
Songkhla Old Town is both modern and traditional. The shops are cute and brightly colored. Highlights include hand woven baskets, traditional Thai clothes, and delicious dessert shops. There are stylish bars like Blue Smile and stylish hostels like Lyn's. There is a street market every month in Old Town. Old Town is also within walking distance of every major street market, including the Friday/Saturday evening market by the Old Wall. Old Town has many beautiful views of Songkhla Lake. It is very close to Samila Beach, Khao Tang Kuan, the national museum, and Ko Yo island. It is a charming place to relax, with lower prices and smaller crowds than other areas of Thailand.

Nice to stroll around
Jan 2020
Of the old trading towns in SE Asia, Songkhla old town is in my opinion one of the best - Melaka and Hoi An are unfortunately quite crowded; Georgetown is much bigger; Phuket Town and Kuala Trengganu are pleasantly small but Songkhla has the advantage of being wedged between two seas yet surrounded by hills. Crumbling wooden shophouses next to more modern 1950s buildings; street art in unexpected places to please the instagram crowd and lots of overgrown potted plants and grassy patches scattered around with many nooks and tiny lanes leading in between the three main roads. Restaurants and shops which have been around for over 50 years selling the same foods and more contemporary cafes are all within 10 minutes' walk. There are no coachloads of tourists and it is especially nice in the early morning and evening when the streets are less crowded and the sea breezes blow through. Little alleys between shops and warehouses lead out to the lakeshore where nice sunsets over the lake are juxtaposed with big and small fishing boats. Also only about 50 minutes by car from Hatyai airport.

I think because other places have made tourist attractions out of their old towns, Songkhla did as well - but, it isn't much to see. There is some good food around here however

A lovely walk
Oct 2019 • Family
It's nice to walk if it's not raining and the weather is not too hot. With quaint shops and cafes and lovely street art and some minor attractions, it's worth half a day. If you've been to Penang, Melaka or Hoi An, it's pretty similar.
