The Italian K2 Museum is a landmark symbol of friendship between Italy and Pakistan. It was established in 2004 to mark the golden jubilee of the first ascent of K2 by Italian mountaineers in 1954. The expedition was led by Mr. Arditio Dezio . The museum is treasures of the historic photos of the first visit of Duke of Abruzzi to Karakoram in 1909.

It's one of the best places in City to have an evening tea as the location has a very beautiful view of valley. The visit to Museum with a guide is very informative and interesting too.

This museum should be closed on Saturdays and Sundays and open on other days from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. This morning, Wednesday, we arrived on site at 9.05am. The museum was still closed and an attendant gave us the mobile number of the museum manager. Our Guide phoned him to see if he would open. The manager replied that he was busy and would open for us at 5pm. But at 4:00 p.m., that gentleman called back to say he wouldn't be opening at any time today. Obviously the disappointment was great for those who expected to see this museum entirely dedicated to the first Italian expedition on the K2.

The Museum is actually located on the grounds of PTDC Motel in Skardu city. I've been to the motel several times. It is a recommended place for all visitors looking for affordable rooms, good quality food, ambiance and a glimpse of culture and history.

It has a wonderful view of the Indus river and is ideal for an evening tea on the green terraces under apricot and cherry trees. There is an indoor dining area as well with glass walls giving a fabulous view of the surroundings.

The hotel is also a meeting point for mountaineers and displays the history of various mountain expeditions.

K2 mueseum sponsered by Italian government and established on 50th anniversary of 1st successful ascent of K2 by Italian climbers. Located at Ptdc K2 Motel Skardu. The whole motel itself is a history of climbing, trekking of the great mountain ranges of Baltistan. If not staying here then spend an evening after the mueseum tour and have a cup of tea with view of great Indus.

K2 museum is a tourist attraction place in K2 Motel Skardu. It is located on the river bank side of the PTDC K2 motel. It opens daily from 8 AM to around 2PM. It is well maintained and offers a view of local culture and expedition maps. It also depicts the fauna and flora of GB region.
