It certainly was the highlight of my Skardu stay. Every turn on the way opened up new views. Once past Deosai Top, it was an undulating plateau with snow-capped mountains 360 degrees around. Reminded of Mongolia... Flowers are starting to bloom... will reach peak in August I am told. Went as far as Seosar Lake and returned

Deosai Plain, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Himalayas, is a place of unparalleled beauty and tranquility. During my visit, I was captivated by the ethereal charm and untouched landscapes that stretched as far as the eye could see.
The sheer vastness of Deosai Plain took my breath away. Rolling meadows blanketed in a sea of wildflowers, framed by majestic snow-capped peaks, created a surreal and awe-inspiring sight

With Amazing views, Deosai Plains was a painter’s delight (although I am not one!).
The world’s 2nd highest plateau, the plains had everything from flowers to green hills, lakes to glacial waters!
The charges are a bit steep for foreigners as compared to locals and Pakistanis but worth visiting. The only drawback are the very bad roads if you can call them that! They really need to work on this as it will cut travel time by half and make the journey up to the plains less arduous.

This national park, whose entrance fee costs forty dollars for foreigners, a dollar and a half for Pakistanis and thirty cents for locals, is located on a long plateau at the foot of the Himalayas about four thousand meters high. It is easy to spot the numerous marmots; instead, sighting bears is more difficult, because you have to arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon, which is practically impossible. The dirt road that crosses it is deliberately kept in terrifying conditions to force visitors to drive their vehicles practically at walking pace. The exit from the park must be approached with caution, because within a few kilometers you descend about two thousand meters, which could cause damage to the organism.

I saw so many pictures and read alot of reviews before planning my trip. But no pictures and review can do the justice to this place.
It is by far the best place i have ever seen in my whole life.
I saw the lake, flowers, wildlife, and alot more. Everything was amazing. My best view was when i was driving above the clouds and i could see mountain, lake flowers and clouds at the same time. It was breathtaking view.
Fun fact. Famous windows XP background is from deosai national park.

We drove from Skardu to Rama Lake via the park. How superb it is. Loved the kilometres upon km's of wide open space. The wildflowers were gorgeous. We saw a lot of marmot, yak and goats but no brown bear. The ranger said there had been one hanging around their camp though. Stopped for morning chai at a small place mid morning- chai and coconut biscuits. Loved it. Had lunch at a tented restaurant- excellent. Would be wonderful to pitch a tent and stay overnight. Highly recommended.

It's the most beautiful place in Pakistan that I have been to. Just imagine lush green plains, freshwater streams, and lakes on ~13000 ft. Since it's a national park, settlements are not allowed which makes it free from pollution and you feel much closer to nature. The best time to visit this park is in August/ Sept. The park might not be accessible till mid-June due to melting glaciers.

The first time I visited Deosai, I only got a chance to travel through half of it. Recently I was lucky enough to visit for the third time.
Fun Fact: Deosai and Sheosar Lake form one of the highest elevation freshwater wetlands in the world.

Hi Yusra
I will never recommend Honda City or corolla sorts of cars. 4x4 jeep, or land cruiser or Parrado vehicle should be with you.
Yes, road will be open and fine in October.
Obviously it is too cold to visit in October.

I plan to drive along Skardu-Doesai National Park- Astore Valley in mid May2023. I wish to visit this park. Sadly some webs telling Doesai only open from june onwards. But some other sites telling open year round. Little confuse. Does it mean Doesai is forever open to drive thru in order to go Astore Valley and for the national park will be totally no go before june? OR does it mean the park is also forever open but with limited access during this time? Anyone have done this before?

Infact i wanted to know that i am planning to go skerdu in third week of September so i have some concerns about the weather specially in deo Sai, is there any chance of snow in these particular days from 15 sep to 25 th sep 2022?
Written March 21, 2022
Dear Asim R, I am sorry for a late response. September is a good time to visit DeoSai and Skardu. The major tourist traffic drops down and still there is no snow.
We expect there to be now issues with snow closing down the roads and other issues. Late in September, or even early in October is a very beautiful time of the year to visit these great attractions. If you have any other questions, do let me know.

I am planning a trip to northern areas of Pakistan with my wife and 2 year old. Can someone tell me if Skardu/ Deasai plains are open in December (25th-01st Jan)??.
If not what others places we can visit in northern areas where i am take my 2 year old without much hassel but also no commercial places
Written October 4, 2021
Dear Zhunain,
Deosai is a good place to visit. But please keep in mind that that DeoSai has almost no facilities. There is a hotel made of tents with bare minimum toilet facilities and a very basic food. It is much better to stay in a hotel, either in Astur, or in Skardu while traveling with a small kid. However, it is perfectly safe to cross DeoSai in any small or big car. There are absolutely no security issues at all.

I'm planning a trip to northern areas in next week. I wanted to know if I'm traveling alone, what's the best way to transport? For example, I'll land in Islamabad, how do I go to deosai national park from there?

Hi,
I am planning a trip to the northern areas in October. If you could help me compiling the must-visit places, that would be great. Also, is October a good time to visit?
Thank you
Written September 13, 2021
Sorry for a late resposne. October is the best time of the year to visit Northern Areas. Northern Areas is too big a tourist attraction to see everything in one go. I recommend spending time in one place rather than touch and go to all the different attractions.
The most important in The North is Hunza. While visiting Hunza, spend time in main Hunza (Karimabad and Aliabad), but you may have a day trip to Attaabad Lake and Khunjrab Top. For a four to five day trip this is good enough. If you have more time, you may decide to visit Gilgit, and then other side towards Khalti Lake, Phandar Lake and Gupis and Yaseen Valleys. That is another 3 or 4 days. Visiting Skardu, DeoSai, Shigar, Khaploo is another 1 week trip. Too big to see in one go. Try to restrict the number of places you visit and try to spend time and blend into the air-around... you will enjoy more.

“I have Honda Civic. Does road condition is fair enough till Skardu to go on civic? If it not fair then from where should i hire jeep and park my car safe?
Written September 6, 2021
Honda Civic will easily take you to Skardu. Inside Skardu, it is much better to then hire local jeeps to take you on the various tracks surround the main city. Hire with a driver, the driver will be a guide also. Sorry for the late response, missed the notification
