Near the Shahi Mosque of Chitral on the right bank of the river, stranding the majestic Chitral fort, which has been witnessing the ups and downs of the history for centuries. A fort with a rich past, especially in 1895, when a coup d’etat cost the life of the Mehtar (ruling chief) Nizam Ul Mulk, and his half brother Amir... More

It is located on the right bank of River Chitral, next to the Shahi Mosque. Reportedly, its outer walls are more than 250 years old while the fort itself is more than 100 years old. The compound used to house the living barracks of the guards of Mehtar of Chitral as well as his palace. The facility includes the place... More

Chitral fort, located at the right bank of river Chitral speaks about the grandeur of its rulers. The typical Chitrali architecture is marvellous, despite being simple. The main hall tells the entire history of the fort with pictures of most of the rulers. Its an excellent tourist attraction.

A great historical monument located in Chitral town just besides the royal mosque, famous for its 1895 siege of Chitral fort, but unfortunately not open for public.

It's a good place but it was closed when I went there & nothing mentioned about the opening hours. Local authorities should take care of this

Chitral Forst is a wonderful historic treasure, but unfortunately has been neglected. Recently, the interior of the fort has been renovated, but due to certain restraints is not open for the general public.

This fort is a historical place in Chitral and a must visit place. The structure is old though, however it has been maintained throughout. The best time to visit this place is in the morning. Evening is also a good option but not recommended. There are lots of dry fruits shop around the place, where you can get good quality... More

Knowing something of the history of Chitral helps appreciating the fort. Having read the travails of the British in Chitral made the visit more interesting.
