The temple is absolutely stunning. It is getting little bit crowdy coz most of the times in certain time a group of 20-40 people will come with a guide, but don't worry they will continue in like 20 minutes, so don't be sad. Definitely go for this Temple :)

Payathonzu is 3 temples joined into one. It is not a must-see, but it is worth a visit. It is not permitted to take pictures inside the temple.
It's very quiet. Not many people here. Although, I did buy a T-shirt here for my son that he likes. It has the Burmese alphabet on the front with "Souvenir of Bagan" in Burmese on the back.

Worth a visit to admire the intricate architectural design work in brick. Worth spending time walking around the pagoda

I stopped by here on my way to Minnathu Village. It was actually lucky for me to come here since it was one of the most beautiful pagodas I’ve seen in Myanmar. The murals is mysterious but amazing. The left one is almost completed and its murals was especially preserved in a good condition. Above all, the local artist I met there was truly kind and attractive. He is same age as me and explained the history and meaning of mural without any tip. Also he showed his works, the traditional Burmese art. It was the beautiful and elaborated drawing made of natural ingredients. (ofc I bought one!) He even took me to the hidden pagoda and we saw the sunset together, which was absolutely the unforgettable experience in my life.

This temple is stunning! It has some of most beautiful paintings from the 12th century. The paintings have been recently restored with guidance from the UNESCO. The murals were apparently painted by monks who practiced tantric rituals. There are 28 Buddhas, many floral motifs, mythical animals, birds, human figures, and woven. The building has three interconnected temples that are quite easy to visit. You need a flashlight. In our case, the guard showed us the murals with the temple's light. He did not ask for any money. He did not accept a tip. He told us that he would prefer for us to see his pictorial work without any commitment. We found it beautiful and we bought one of his paintings at a very decent price.
He also took us to a very little, nice shrine close by. We were very impressed with that shrine. It does not have a name. However, it is has the best preserved pictorial work of all Bagan!
It is very close to Lemyethna and Nandamannya.
We were alone. The southern plain is the most distant part of Bagan. We arrived by car. We hire a private driver.

I liked this place since there was no one around when I went there. Finding a quiet spot, I rested a bit and even tried to get to the top. The series of three pagodas is rather distinct. There are unfinished murals and frescoes inside.

This was one of the later temples of Bagan. Thon zu Paya means 3 pagodas --- it is indeed 3 interconnected pagodas. It has some unfinished frescoes: some historians say they were abandoned before completion, because of impending Mongol invasion. Photography is not allowed inside -- probably because of the damage that flashes can cause to frescoes? (this rule is not uniformly applied in all temples which have frescoes; so it is best to check).

A small temple that displays some wonderfully preserved wall murals. Regrettably however, photography of these is not allowed.

Another smaller temple which is quite pretty inside. Unfortunately there's a tendency for locals to hound you as you enter the temple in an effort to show you the murals inside and extract some cash, and this somewhat detracts from the quality of the experience. It's quite an attractive exterior though.
