A historic way of crossing over to Penang Island from Butterworth. Though most of the people will use the bridge now. But for tourist or a family trip, it is an experience especially with kids. And for a backpacking tourist this will be the cheapest and convenient mode of going over to Penang Island if you are not following any... More

Questions:- When there is no other vehicles why do you ask vehicles to park at far end rather than @ shade when it rains..half shade half open lanes..is not for heavy vehicles? Kudos to the CAPTAIN & CREW of Talang Talang...despite of rain...you bought us safely. It was a beautiful sight to watch ocean going ships from afar...the sceneries of... More

The ferry is available at night. Traveller can get up to see scenic view but using climbing staircase might not suitable for elderly.

Remember to prepare RM 1.20 in syilings for ferry ride or you have to queue to change the money at the counter. A 'long' journey for those carrying luggage as no elevator is provided in area - only stairs.

First you put 1.20 in the tilt, you wait, you step on the ferry, the ferry leave the harbour, sail for a short while, then you step down and there you are. Basically it is a ferry service.

A fery terminal, nothing much to say about it. It's quite straightforward if you come by car/motorbike but for cyclists atm a genuine nightmare unless you know where to go which is to the right side of the jetty, where the staff of the jetty enters. Technically you're not allowed to take the motorbike/car entry but atm you might have... More

We drove our Land Rover Double Cab to the Sultan Abdul Halim ferry terminal in Butterworth to get ferry to Georgetown but were in for a surprise as this time the vehicle was classed as a pick-up truck and we had to pay RM 12.70 instead of the usual RM 7.70! The fifteen minute journey was however beautiful and worthy... More
