We ran into Jacob at his warung and spent the next 4 days with him. We went to explore the authentic countryside with all its delicious products and Sukamade for 2 days. We were able to stay with him and were greatly spoiled and accepted by his family. We are very grateful for him and his family for their hospitality and friendship. They are very welcoming and Jacob speaks good English and gives a lot of good explanations. We would especially recommend the plantation tour!

We called Jakob to go to Sukamadre beach from Banyuwangi to see the turtles laying eggs on the beach at night. He managed to do the impossible to arrive there because it was raining and we must pass some rivers crossing the street (there are no bridges on this road). We got luky twice because it's impossible to predict if there will be floods on the road or if there will be turtles laying eggs on the beach but the best luky was to meet him because is a really nice person and really interested in making the journey pleasant and interesting. He explained us about the indonesian culture, plants and places with a very good english. On the way back from the jungle we stopped a lot of time to see plantations of coffe, cacao, caucciù, brown sugar and nice places like Green bay or a fishermans village. He also bring us to see how the cacao, sugar and caucciù get processed. After all this great adventure he invited us to stay as guest in his private home to cook with his wife. It was one of our best experience in Indonesia. We reccomend at anybody to try this adventure or other with his company. We regret that we didn't stay longer at his home (like he was hoping) and that we went to Ijen crater before knowing him. Hes not only a driver but a really good friend. Thank's Jakob

We get picked up from the ferryport by Jacob perfect in time than he drove us to his home in Banyuwangi and introduced us to his family. In the afternoon we have done a walk in the village. The people were so friendly and interested and they invited us in to their homes and we get the chance to try some local food..really nice. In the evening we cooked with Jacobs wife a traditional nasi goreng. For the Ijen we had to go up at midnight and drive around an hour to the starting point. There we met our guide a really nice young local man who told us many interesting stories about the volcano himself but also about the life of a young javanes man. We a lot of fun, the walk is easy and the volcano and the work of the miners is impressive. There are a lot of tourist but I think its still worth to do it. We were back at the car around 7.30 am, than we had to chance to visit with Jacob a coffee plantation, saw many beautiful rice fields and taste different spices it was amazing. Back home we get fresh grilled fish from the sea and than it was time to say goodbye! All in all it was a great trip and absolut worth to do it=).
