The imposing Rock Fort is quite a climb to get to, but it is a wonderful experience as you will get through a labyrinth of colorful temples to get there and rewarded with panoramic view of the city. A must do!

Climbed up 350 steps up the hill to have Darshan of the Ganapathi Temple popularly known as Rockfort Temple. The view of the Tiruchirapalli Town and nearby towns from the top of the Hill was worth the trouble of all that climb. Very nice arrangements have been made by the Temple Authorities to shield pilgrims from the harsh sunlight.

This is great venue for Lord Ganesha temple. Perched on top of a hillock with phenomenal view of Trichy and Cauvery river , this perhaps, is the highest Ganesh temple ever visited by me. The climb up is facilitated by covered and paved stair case, with temples on the way. There are windows on the stair way from where you can the splendour of fort walls as also the city scape. It was a great experience climbing up and enjoying cool clime at the top. They sell prasadams at the bottom of the climb, which are tasty. There is place where you can leave your footwear safely, with token to reclaim them after return to bottom.
Phenomenal temple indeed.

Rock fort is seen from the city but better to climb up if you have the stamina from where we can have a bird view of the entire city surroundings and it is scenic.

Very interesting to see inside. Many steps cut inside this large solid granite rock with smaller temples inside. Make your way to the top for a spectacular view of the city and major rivers (sadly running dry). Photos allowed which was great. Leave your shoes at one of the small stalls at the entrance for free.

It is situated on a hillock , should be more than 300 steps , the last part a little steeper, but you can take rest in a number of places and make it .
Once you reach the top, you can have a good breeze and excellent view of the city , particularly nice to see in the evenings.
Do not miss out the Shiva and Parvathi temple which is situated half way during the mountain climb , the Shiva lingam is very big and beautiful and particularly worshipped by Pregnant ladies as Lord Shiva here blesses them for a safe delivery , acting as a mother ..
