The place is pretty close to Dargah. So it can be visited alongwith Dargah. The place is more like a picnic spot for families. It was quite crowded when I visited the place. There is a worshipping place also inside the fort. It is supposedly believed that the fort was built in 2.5 days and that's why the name.

The Adhai Din Ka Jhonpda is an active mosque that has a prayer hall that looks small compared to the imposing entrance to it. The complex was originally a school for teaching Sanskrit, but converted into a mosque by Mu'izz ad-Din Muhammad Ghori, or Sultan Ghori after the creator of the Ghurid Dynasty that ushered in Islamic rule over the Indian subcontinent.

The main attractions are the imposing Indo-Islamic septuple arch decorated with kufic script and the prayer hall which is many pillared in the fashion of trabeate architecture.

Good to see Artitectural work. This is a Mosque basically. the excellence is sound amplifying system made in those days without having any Loud speaker system like today. Stones are arranged in such a way that amplifies the sound. Azaan being given at a particular place at a particular position is being listned in the surrounding. Excellent Engineering in ancient era.

This mosque, built from the dismantled remains of temples, is known as Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra possibly from the fact that a fair used to be held here for two and a half days.here govt should pay more attention towards this building and shold improve tourism

Instead of taking an auto, I walked to this Adhai Din ka Jhonpra through the serpentine land. Aroma of mouth watering dishes filled the air and so did the loud voices of the shopkeepers. The lane was crowded with people, some strolling in the evening, some out for shopping, some selling. And then it was all quite, from a narrow lane, I was in a vast open area and in front of me was this beautiful structure. I am no expert but it seems that this monument was built in hurry using stones from previous ruins. I could mark few stones with pre Islamic architecture. Not sure, if there were Hindu or Jain structure, But it seemed the person who used these stones in pillars, just inserted them without thinking much about matching the style. Anyway, the place was lot cooler, than the surrounding and the structure created atmosphere of calmness in midst of din and crowd.
Seeing this mosque, and the later the Dargha at Ajmer or Taj, one can see the progression of Islamic style. There is a marked evolution.

Basically a mosque within walking distance of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti Dargah. An example of architectural excellence. The construction amplifies sound and the stone carving is beautiful.
The approach however is through a narrow, crowded lane which is filthy. The compound is large but dirty. It is depressing to note that our people allow filth in and around such a beautiful structure.

This is an historical monument just 5 minutes walk from the Dargah of Khawaja Moinudiin Chisti, which was once Hindu School.

The Mmugal Empror who was against the Hindus break this building and converted in two and half day to a school.

This mosque deserves a little loving attention. After all, here we have a construction dating back to 1198 when Islam was really just getting its first toehold in India. There are very few older Islamic buildings in the whole country- it is of approximately the same age as Qutb Minar in Delhi. The stone calligraphy on the seven outer arches is very fine and crisp, despite 800 years having past, and the Hindu-style pillar hall behind is also well-preserved, showcasing early Hindu temple design in Rajahstan.

The site is poorly maintained, with a lot of village children and wild goats frolicking around in the yard, but it is certainly worth a look for the history buff.

Please don't follow up the pictures. Like a hundred others, this one is a historic property in a pathetic condition. Garbage, strays and beggers will really spoil your vacay mood.
It's a very very small structure not worth a visit till you have some religious commitment to come here.

Beyond the Dargah of Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chishti, on the town outskirts, are the extraordinary ruins of the Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra mosque. According to legend, construction in 1153 took only 2½ days. Others say it was named after a festival lasting 2½ days.
