Something about the statues make you feel like you are on sacred grounds where everything you have read or heard of knights weighs heavily. The statues are impressive! Worth the detour

A nice view
The fortress is a walking distance from the Stalin museum, but the hike up there is not an easy one, and the fortress is mostly in ruins, it offers a nice view of Gori from above though, so it is worth the hike.
Gori is a lovely city so don’t miss the chance to stroll around.

Its not worth the way up because you cannot see a lot. The Balustrade is high and a lot is under construction.
At the bottom are some really nice statues of harmed soldiers. But also a lot of trash around.

Ok you start you exploration of the castle with the statues of the wounded medieval knights which represent the struggle the knights endured in the 15th C. An easy walk from there up through the gate and you are in the main part of the castle - great views of Gori.
The real gem in the castle lie hidden away on the western end of the castle. Just walk through the gate and keep walking towards the direction of the wind farms on the hill. There you can scramble down through multiple layers of the castle to the bottom which is on the same level as the road outside, although there is no exit and you have to climb back out the way you come. At the bottom is a small chapel hidden away in the undergrowth.
A fun scramble through the ruins, very modest exercise but you do need good footwear. Allow 30 minutes for the decent and ascent.

The Gori fortress looks more beautiful from the town and when approaching it, than when you're in.
You cannot access it by car directly, but need some 10 min climb. Best thing about the fortress (free to enter) are the views of Gori town beneath you, and fabulous Georgian nature in the distance.

Quite an uphill walk. Not so much up here except the wall. It is free and you have a great view over the entire area from up here

Walking distance from the centre of Gori, this fortress offers some nice views over the nearby area. Probably, one of the nicest places in this village. Some interesting sculptures nearby brings an extra value and a photo opportunity.

It is a nice gently walk up the paved path to the fortress which stands guarding the town of Gori. All the outer walls have been preserved and it is clean and pleasant inside, it is shame there is not more of the structure to explore. The best thing about the castle is the wonderful panoramic view of the town and the surrounding countryside.

The fortress is right in Gori city. Just walk there, it will not take more than 10-15 minutes to reach it.
