The peoples stadium was quite an experience. Unfortunatally, like many things in Guiyang, it has been allowed to run down. Fountains that no longer worked must have been beautiful in their day. At night this area is full of people, music and dancing.

It is nowadays called Zhu Square. Chaiman statue is still located facing the new square. In the morning and late afternoon, there are many local people spending free time on the square by playing card, singing and dancing, playing Taichi, etc. It might be a little noisy mixed by amplifier, but it is still a place to enjoy the local way to spend free time.

Nov 2013 • Friends
Attended a football match at the People's Stadium in November with friends.
This stadium could be a great venue with some improvements and attention. Right now it seems rather neglected with not much thought put into the design and services areas. Getting in and out of the stadium was confusing. Seats were covered in soot/dirt. There is no real map or directional boards to guide one to seating areas. The walkways are very general. The bathroom facilities are primitive and dirty. There were not many guide workers to provide service and only a few concession stands were operational along the corridors- and these were basic- offering a very short variety of beverages, popcorn, and cheap sausages on a stick. At least they follow the tried and true stadium formula of overpricing concessions. Rather disappointing for a new stadium. It looks good from afar but far from a good.

It looks like a bird's nest. Very cool ambiance. I watched two games there, it was full of passion. And those football players really went at it. A really nice experiment for sports fans
