Mount Kilimanjaro Marangu Route 5 days

Zara Tours guides treks up the Marangu Route, which is the easiest and shortest route to Kilimanjaro's summit and is known as the "Coca Cola" or "tourist" route. This is the only route on Kilimanjaro with the comforts of solar-powered sleeping huts and comfortable beds at every camp. The huts are communal, and each bunk has a sponge mattress and pillow. Bathrooms and running water are available at the two lower huts. Basic men's and ladies' latrines are available at the last camp. All climbing groups, often from several countries around the world, share meals in dining huts providing a jovial and energetic atmosphere. Soft drinks, bottled water, and beer may be for sale at the huts. Bring small Tanzanian bills to purchase these items (prices increase with elevation). This route is usually done in 5 days, but you can do it in 6 days for better acclimatization. You can spend your extra day resting at Horombo or climbing to a basecamp below Kibo's sub peak Mawenzi.

Mount Kilimanjaro Machame Route 6 Days

All your equipment and supplies are carried by porters and a cook prepares all your meals. Unlike the Marangu Route where you sleep in huts, on the Machame you sleep in tents (tents are included), and the porters will pitch your tent for you. Meals are served in a dinner tent or on a blanket outside. This makes the Machame, which is referred to as the "Whiskey Route," better suited to more adventurous hikers, and it also rewards you with better views than other Routes. From late afternoon sunsets at Shira, to the misty revelations of Kibo's great Barranco Wall, the Machame Route offers the spunky hiker a continuous scenic slide show.

The guide is very professional, knowledgeable and very good driver. We had a great vehicle in excellent condition. The experience in the parks, cultural & archeological visits and the lodges is the best we have been to. Thank you for everything Zara Tours

My brother and I recently climbed Kilimanjaro using the Lemosho Route. Organization by Zara Tours was right from the moment we contacted them which made things pretty easy. We arrived in Tanzania on Xmas eve to find a representative from Zara Tours waiting for us. He took us to Springlands Hotel where we met Tarimo the chief guide and Bright his assistant. They did a detailed briefing of the climb then checked our gear. We met the rest of the team (porters/cook) at Lemosho gate after breakfast and left for climb. Nothing could have prepared us for the actual climbing experience. It was much more than just trekking, we talked, learned and had a great exchange with the whole team. The crew catered for every of our need and are the reason we summited successfully despite the climb being the most physically and mentally challenging activity we have ever done in together. I highly recommend Zara Tours.

We recently had one of the best trips of my life with Zara Tours to Tanzania. We had Bright Munsa as our guide and he is the BEST! Patient, knowledgeable, expert driver, master animal spotter and the such an amiable person to be around. He knew everything Tanzania! Where to spot animals and position the Jeep for excellent camera shots.......... We visited Tarangire NP, Serengeti NP and Ngorongoro Crater. The highlight of our safari are the 3 days we stayed at Serengeti Safari Loge – also operated by Zara Tours. Great food, amazing ambience and luxurious suites. We should have stayed longer. I have a return trip coming up soon!

In addition to our Kilimanjaro climb with Zara, we booked a safari with them too which was way beyond our expectations. Due to Covid and the fact there wasn’t many travellers at the time, we had the jeep to ourselves for the 5 days - just us and our fantastic guide, Samwell. Samwell had been in the job for 11 years and he knew all there was to know about the animals and the locations (the Negorongo crater, the Serengeti National Park and Tarangire National Park). Right from the very beginning, he insisted that we told him the animals we wanted to see, and promised to do his very best to find them and make it possible, and he did. By day 5, we’d seen the Big Five and so many more animals that we never imagined or were even aware of. The safari accommodations were absolutely breathtaking, and we believe we got upgrades at each camp due to Covid and the limited amount of travellers. Lucky us!!! We stayed in Highview Hotel, Zita Serengeti Tanzania wildcamp and the Wildebeest camp and again , the staff, food and service at each place was phenomenal, and each member of staff along the way have been nothing but kind, friendly and helpful. Overall, we had the most amazing experience with Zara, and we will be recommending them to our friends and family at home. Many thanks Matt and Abi

My partner and I had booked to climb Kilimanjaro (the 6 day Machame route) and a 5 day safari with Zara tours. Our flights had been cancelled several times due to coronavirus, but we were determined to get there and we are so glad we did. From the moment we were picked up at the airport by a member of staff from Springlands Hotel/Zara, we felt completely at ease. The service and food at Springlands was impeccable, and the staff were all extremely friendly and passionate about us enjoying every second of our stay with them. After lunch we met with our two Kilimanjaro guides, Filbert and Mussin, and they briefed us on our plans to set off up the mountain the following day. We were instantly reassured that we had great guides who had an abundance of experience up the mountain. The following morning, ourselves and just one more couple began our adventure from Machame gate, with a team of 16 Zara staff assisting us on our journey (made up of guides, porters and chefs). Each day we arrived at a new camp, we would find our tents set up for us with our baggage inside. The toilet tents were a pleasant surprise (we never expected these), and the food (and amount of it) was absolutely outstanding. Each night Filbert would brief us on the following day, and they did their upmost to ensure we were all safe, feeling well and happy with the experience on a whole. We must add that we found ourselves to be quite fast in comparison to the other couple, but the guides would split up to ensure that we could walk separately a day at our own pace , whilst still making sure we were going steady to allow our bodies to acclimatise well. On day 5, we were ecstatic to have made it to Uhuru Peak with our fantastic guide, Issa, and with no problems along the way. Thank you to all the team from Zara who made the whole experience feel fun, easy and possible, every step of the way. We had the most amazing experience with Zara, and we will be recommending them to our friends and family at home. Many thanks Matt and Abi.
