African Scenic Safaris is a family, owner-run business located in Moshi, Tanzania. By specialising in this beautiful country we have a thorough knowledge of the region and how to provide the best experiences. Whether on a budget or wanting something more luxurious, African Scenic Safaris will provide you with a trip of a lifetime. We offer a wide range of itineraries, including camping safaris, private safaris, luxury lodge safaris, cultural experiences, Ethical Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru climbs, as well as extensions to the spectacular island of Zanzibar. Safari destinations include Arusha National Park, Serengeti National Park, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Natron and Lake Eyasi. We believe in showing our clients a true and authentic African experience, which also benefits the local community. We do this by supporting local community projects through our NGO called Path To Africa. Volunteering experiences are also available with Hostel Hoff. We relied on African Scenic Safaris for organising a 5 days safari. Nembris provided us with suggestions for the itinerary through Ndutu, Serengeti and Ngoro Ngoro and swiftly responded to all our questions. In hindsight, we were happy with the itinerary suggested and with the quality of selected accommodation.
Our trip was made special by the knowledge, skills and professionalism of our guide Greyson. We were amazed by his ability to navigate difficult roads while also spotting animals with a naked eye that we could only see with binoculars. His understanding and knowledge of animal behaviour is incredible. He was able to anticipate what animals would do and place the car accordingly so that we would get the best views. We learned a lot from him as he patiently explained animal behaviour and provided details on both flora and fauna in the park and conservation area. His commitment to the job and professionalism is clear: throughout the trip we felt he was completely dedicated to give us the best possible experience, he was patient with us and always on perfect time, while keeping track of the schedule with entry and exit times from the parks. It was also great to be accompanied through this adventure by someone who clearly loves his job. One example is that during the safari we were looking for a leopard, and Greyson spent our last two days scanning every tree for us and asking everyone if they had seen it, without luck. Yet on our final day, just before the gate to exit the park, a leopard was waiting for us by the road. It was so cool and in a way a gift of nature just before we left. What makes us say that Greyson clearly loves the job is that he got as excited as we were that we finally get to see the leopard!
Another aspect that we would like to highlight is that in the Serengeti cars should not go off-road (except if blocked or with issues), yet we saw some guides venturing far from them to get their customers a photo opportunity with a group of lions. We really appreciated that Greyson did not do that, and instead professionally respected the park rules and animal welfare. All in all, his experience as a driver and guide made us feel safe and in good hands at all times. Last but not least, Greyson is also a great person to get to know, personable, fun and kind.
The car was well maintained and spacious, and cleaned daily by Greyson. There was also a jerrycan with freshg drinking water installed in the car, which was great as it enabled us to avoid buying plastic bottles along the way.
A final aspect that we would like to highlight is that we chose African Scenic Safaris as it is partly owned by locals. We were therefore very pleased to discover that they work with locally owned lodges.
All in all, we can warmly recommend African Scenic Safari and Greyson (soon to be Grayson) as a guide to everyone!

We had an absolutely fabulous 10-day safari with African Scenic Safaris in September 2024! We did a lot of research on safari companies and ultimately chose African Scenic Safaris because it came recommended and is a Tanzanian-owned business. We wanted to ensure that our tourist dollars stayed in Tanzania to the fullest extent possible. We are so happy that we made this choice!
Our guide, Ben, was so wonderful. He is an experienced 17 year veteran safari guide which was important. Ben was able to get us all of the best viewing spots to see the animals, knew the back roads in the parks so we did not compete with dozens of other safari vehicles, and was generally a pleasure to travel with. It was clear that other safari guides were relying on Ben to help them - particularly the younger, less experienced ones. We couldn’t have imagined a better guide to spend 10 days with.
We also really appreciated the professional planning that went into our trip. We worked with Albin who was not only extremely friendly but also very responsive. He worked with us to plan a fully customized safari (we booked directly and did not use a travel agent). We wanted to stay in a range of different types of lodges and Albin worked with us to identify the ones that would make the most sense. We emailed back and forth quite a bit and he was always very gracious in responding quickly. We also price compared the itinerary with multiple other companies and African Scenic Safaris’s price was very competitive.
In terms of amenities, the Safari vehicle was a well-equipped Toyota Land Cruiser (they’re all the same in Tanzania - if a company does not use a Land Cruiser that would be a huge red flag for me). We had unlimited bottled water in the vehicle every day along with 2 sets of Nikon binoculars.
We could not recommend African Scenic Safaris more! Absolutely a 5-star experience all around!

We spent an incredible 10 days and 9 nights exploring the stunning landscapes of Tarangire, Central and Northern Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area – it was truly a dream come true for us, and a trip we will never, ever forget!
The entire safari itinerary was planned by Nembris. Thank you for having video call with us prior the trip to understand our preferences and attend to our queries. Coming from a country far away, we had no experience with safari trips and we had many worries. We are grateful that the trip went smoothly and the itinerary was perfect. It tailored to what we hoped to see, our love for sunrise/sunset and the wonders of nature.
This trip would not be possible without our guide, Emmanuel. He was nothing short of amazing. With 16 years of experience, we were always in the right place at the right time, finding the best spots for sightings. His safe driving, even on the steep, bendy roads of Ngorongoro Crater and the bumpy paths of Serengeti, made the journey safe and comfortable (Tip: If you are an older adult, we recommend wearing pampers for those bumpy stretches to cushion the impact XD).
We suspect that Emmanuel has binoculars built into his eyes because he could spot animals from miles away. His ability to predict the animals' moves made it feel like he had a secret bond with the wildlife. Thanks to him, we witnessed the Great Migration, saw the Big Five, marveled at incredible sunsets, and observed fascinating animal behaviors. We saw an astonishing range of wildlife (except animals starting with the letter 'n' and 'u', let me know if you find one on the safari ;P), and we also learnt more about animals/nature than we ever did from our science textbooks!
Emmanuel didn’t just share his vast knowledge of wildlife, but also gave us deep insights into Tanzanian culture. We exchanged stories, and he made us feel so welcome and connected to the local community. His love for both the animals and his people really shone through.
This was truly a magical experience – worth every penny. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a more memorable adventure. Highly recommend travelling with African Scenic Safaris.

My Mom and I have traveled abroad a good bit, but our 8-day Classic Tanzania tour with African Scenic Safaris is without a doubt the most incredible trip we have ever had! African Scenic Safaris is not a massive company, like that of Leopard Tours or Tanzania Specialist, and it is evident that African Scenic prioritizes quality over quantity. From our first communications during planning, Albin provided an abundance of clear, consistent, and very helpful information. They were also extremely accommodating to itinerary changes and any requests we had. The lodgings African Scenic booked us far exceeded expectations (we opted for the mid-range luxury level), and the customer service and accommodations at the camps absolutely blew us away. Really put customer service in the States to shame!
Our trip would not have been half as amazing without our fantastic driver/guide, GREYSON. Throughout our tour of Tarangire NP, Serengeti NP, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara, it was clear to us that Greyson is one of, if not the absolute best guides in the northern Tanzania tour industry. As a seasoned guide with 15 years of experience, he had unparalleled animal behavior and driving expertise of the areas, which made both my Mom and I feel that we were in the best hands we could possibly be in. On our last day in Serengeti NP, we came up to a large group of cars observing a pair of cheetahs. Greyson immediately noted their behavior indicated they were hungry and scanning for a meal and were likely looking at a group of Thomson gazelles to our rear. He predicted the cheetahs would soon start a hunt and decided to move us away from the crowds and line us up directly adjacent to the gazelles further down the road. We were the only car there, but just as Greyson predicted, the cheetahs started toward us and the gazelles, and we ended up getting front row seats to a successful hunt while other cars were racing to get a view! This was not the only time Greyson’s seasoned knowledge gave us an unforgettable experience, but it was definitely a highlight that stood above the others. Also, his mastery of the roads made us feel completely safe, especially in parts that could have been disconcerting with a less-experienced driver. He knew exactly when and how to safely pass while keeping us moving at a good pace to our next adventure. In addition to his other strengths, Greyson also had a great sense of humor!
The combination of a perfectly mapped out itinerary, a cadence that afforded continuous new experiences of varied ecosystems and animal populations, and amazing accommodations and food made for the most memorable experience ever! We highly recommend African Scenic Safaris and Greyson. If you are considering, this is your sign to do it! You won’t regret your experience with them.

Preparing our tailor-made trip with Solène has already been a very valuable step. Based on our desire for discovery, Solène was able to put together an itinerary that perfectly met our expectations, mainly access to a Tanzanian part with safari and discovery of local particularities before ending with a short stay in Zanzibar. A big thank you Solène for putting together this beautiful trip and giving us the opportunity to dream while waiting to leave.
The Tanzanian trip with our guide Grayson was simply fabulous and our expectations largely exceeded. The discovery of the animals in their natural environment was pure contemplation and the safari exceptional. We shared and exchanged with our guide who gave us a few words of Swahili and to whom we left some French vocabulary in return. We experienced such warm moments thanks to Grayson with the teams in the different lodges in which we stopped that we were overwhelmed by all this generosity. A huge thank you Grayson for all these magnificent moments that you gave us.
The end of the trip to Zanzibar allowed us to enjoy some relaxation and measure all these positive emotions before returning.
The only advice we would like to give to the agency and to future travelers is that you must be informed of the levels of "tips" to give, of the levels of negotiation on prices for any purchase because this is so far from what is done in France that it really disturbed us during the stay, and also the incessant requests in Zanzibar, starting from the taxi at the airport.

Combining an African Scenic Safari - Kilimanjaro climb with a custom Tanzania safari was an unforgettable vacation for our family of 4 adults, each experience enriching the other. The climb was challenging, humbling, and rewarding, while the safari was exhilarating, eye-opening, and sureal. The entire adventure was perfectly balanced from start to finish, thanks to Nembris. Our guides Francis & Nesto and porters for our Kilimanjaro hike were phenomenal. They were not only highly skilled but incredibly supportive, always making sure we were properly acclimatized and safe. The pace was carefully managed, and they encouraged us through every step. African Scenic Safaris are members of the Porters Association which is highly commendable as you can clearly see a difference in employee standards when on the mountain, compared to some other big company names who are not.
Our safari guide, Jackson, was exceptional in every way. He was not only fun but was extremely knowledgable of the animals, plants, and ecosystems we encountered throughout our safari. He explained the behaviour of the animals, the significance of different ecosystems, and even the seasonal migration patterns of the wildlife. It was clear that he had spent years in the field and had built a deep understanding of the Serengeti, Ndutu, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park. One of our most memorable moments was viewing a rare leopard close up in a tree with it's kill.
The accommodations throughout the safari were exceptional — a mix of luxury lodges, and tented camps with our tented camps offering a great mix of comfort and immersion into nature. Each day, we were treated to delicious meals when hiking Kilimanjaro and while on safari.
We can't recommend African Scenic Safaris highly enough and this combined experience to anyone looking for the adventure of a lifetime. The memories of hiking the Lemosho route on Kilimanjaro and encountering Africa’s majestic wildlife will stay with us forever. Thank you African Scenic Safaris for this trip of a lifetime.

The accommodations throughout the safari were exceptional — a mix of luxury lodges, and tented camps with our tented camps offering a great mix of comfort and immersion into nature. Each day, we were treated to delicious meals when hiking Kilimanjaro and while on safari.
We can't recommend African Scenic Safaris highly enough and this combined experience to anyone looking for the adventure of a lifetime. The memories of hiking the Lemosho route on Kilimanjaro and encountering Africa’s majestic wildlife will stay with us forever. Thank you African Scenic Safaris for this trip of a lifetime.

Finding a tour operator for a Tanzanian Safari can be daunting as there are literally hundreds of local tour operators organizating Safaris.
This was my second Safari with African Scenic , my first being in 2017, when I went alone and was linked to a couple from Italy, this time with family, including 11 and 13 year old tweens.
This experience was as positive as my first. Both the guide and the main company contact were different than those of my original trip, and my experience was unfailingly excellent.
Nembris, the sales agent, was responsive and prompt in replying to my many questions, respectful about keeping to budget, and provided good advice when there were itinerary or accomodation options.
The quality of the accomodations (we chose the mid-range tented camp option-"glamping"") were excellent, especially in Tarangire and Serengeti, as well as the starting and ending hotels. The accomodation in the Zanzibar extension was opulent and beyond expectations. Our Safari guide, Emmanuel, went above and beyond in terms of searching for wildlife, accomodating the young people and any requests along the way, making us feel comfortable and safe, and was very open in sharing the current socio-political situation in Tanzania, which was of great interest to myself and the other adult on the trip.

Emmanuel is truly what made the adventure unforgettable. From the moment we set foot in the Serengeti, he knew exactly where to take us for the best wildlife sightings. His ability to track animals was extraordinary—we got to see a pride of lions lounging in the early morning sun, a herd of elephants crossing the savannah, cheetahs, leopards and even a rare rhino to round out the big 5. His deep understanding of animal behavior meant we always had the best vantage points for viewing without disturbing the wildlife.
Not only did he enrich the experience with fascinating facts about the animals, but he also shared stories about the Maasai people and the conservation efforts happening in the area. It was with Solene that we prepared our trip. She carefully listened to our wishes and proposed an itinerary that aligned with our expectations and desires to discover Tanzania and its wildlife, immerse in the local culture, with a little relaxation time in Zanzibar. The entire organization was perfect.
Our guide, Jackson, was waiting for us at the airport and accompanied us throughout our stay on the continent.
The first pleasant surprise was the commitment of African Scenic to the environment. Instead of providing plastic water bottles, they provided a refillable container that we could freely refill directly in the vehicle. This is undoubtedly a plus, especially when observing the litter along the roads.
After spending two days exploring the landscape around Kilimanjaro (coffee plantation, tropical forest...), we headed to the parks of Tarangire, Serengeti (both central and northern sections), and Ngorongoro, where Jackson worked wonders. Not only did we observed the Big Five, but we were also lucky enough to see, among other things, a cheetah mother with her cub eating an impala, a lioness with her two cubs devouring an antelope, and two Mara River crossings by wildebeests. Not to mention the groups of elephants, zebras, giraffes, and hippos. Jackson, a specialist in game rides, has the gift of being in the right place at the right time, along with excellent observational skills. But it was more than that. Jackson taught us that it’s not just about seeing as many animals as possible and moving from one spot to another. It’s also about feeling each moment deep inside, taking the time to observe an elephant using its trunk to pull up a plant or a giraffe eating a branch full of thorns. At the start of our journey, we had a guide; by the end, we had a friend who showed us his country.
The accommodations were always well-located, and the hospitality was always very friendly. Another experience that amazed us was the hot air balloon ride over the savannah.
Our time on the continent concluded with a night spent in a Maasai village—a truly unforgettable experience. To wrap it up, we enjoyed a few days of rest on the white sandy beaches of Zanzibar.
We returned from this trip with our heads full of beautiful memories and at least a thousand photos, and this adventure will undoubtedly remain one of the most extraordinary trips we’ve ever taken.
With complete confidence, we recommend African Scenic. A big thank you to the entire team, and especially to Jackson, who made this experience fantastic.

We booked African Scenic Safaris for a 15 day visit to Tanzania Jan 13- 28 2025. We arrived at Kilimanjaro International airport and were met by as arranged by Ben Urassa who would be our driver and guide for the first 7 days. We opted to spend an extra day in Moshi to recover from our two overnights travel from Canada. While there, we visited a Chagga village at the entrance to Kilimanjaro (didn’t hike) before travelling to Arusha where we spent the night. We began our northern circuit tour on Jan 16.
Ben proved an excellent driver and guide for the next 5 days. We had daily game drives through Ndutu, central Serengeti, and Nogongoro Crator. He brought us to close contact with the great wildebeest migration and Africa’s big 5 along with many other species. There were elusive cheetahs and leopards, multiple prides of lions, herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelope, gazelles, hippos, black rhino and more. Ben’s strategy, which worked well, was to track down the more difficult to find species first, knowing that other species would be encountered along the way. We were extremely impressed with both his guiding and driving skills.
From Arusha we flew to Nyerere National park. This was a choice made when planning the trip. The park features the largest river in Tanzania and we wanted to explore a different environment. We caught the end of the rainy season. Conditions were not ideal for spotting animals in the dense vegetation and the wet conditions meant the animals were disbursed. Nonetheless, we saw lots of elephants, warthogs, hyena, giraffes, antelope and hippopotamus. Driving conditions on muddy roads were difficult and it wasn’t the best time of year to visit the area. Our guide here, Hendrick, was also very good.
Our final few days were spent in Zanzibar. We stayed at a beach resort in Nungwi and spent a night in Stone Town, working in a visit to a spice farm along the way. Zanzibar is a totally different experience and should be included in a visit to Tanzania.
All arrangements made by Nembris Joram of African Safaris came off without a hitch. Transports at various airports were there to meet us on time. All was delivered as promised. The accommodations ranged from boutique hotels in Arusha and Stone Town, a beach resort in Zanzibar, and very good Tented Camps for our park stays. Our only disappointment was with the Chana Lodge in Moshi where the room was very good but the breakfast buffet was not adequately protected from flies. This was not a problem at any other accommodation.
We highly recommend African Scenic Safaris and their driver/guides.

Thanks for contacting African Scenic Safaris, we are operating safari in Tanzania only, I can see you have ask for Grand African Tour of which cover the subsaharan countries.
If you were thinking about Tanzania, February is definitely the best time to visit and get closer to over 3 millions of wildebeest dropping babies everywhere together with over 4 hundreds of zebra and gazelles, while predator are waiting for easy catch, all this in the southern Serengeti National park, which has been voted the best wildlife destination in the world. It's one of the world Nature wonders and one not to miss, to experience this we will recommend not less than 5days on Northen Tanzania which will includes visiting nearby park like Ngorongoro Crater.

Hello! I am looking to get information on a safari! Can someone please contact me at..... themillersonthemove@gmail .... I would like the following questions answered 1) We will be starting our safari Sept 27, 2019, and would prefer it to be a 4 day safari ending on the 30th. We want to be in the correct area to 100% see the wildebeest migration? that is our #1priority for us to picking the perfect safari. 2) is there a fly in OR fly out option? if so how much more does that cost? (we are okay with one way driving and one way flying. just trying to use are time wisely while still not going way over budget. :) 3) if it is possible to fly in OR fly out.... we will be coming from Nairobi and after the safari heading to Kigali. Is it possible to fly into the serengeti in Tanzania from Nairobi Kenya? OR from the Serengeti to Kigali? or do we HAVE to fly into mt Kilimanjaro/arusha? 4) what are the accommodation options 5) Is there Wifi at the accommodations that we will be staying or do you know if there is Verizon reception around camp? Sounds like you are trying to customize an off-the-rack safari.
- You can fly into an airport directly in the center of the Serengeti, near (2km) to the Visitors Center. There are no hotels or services at the airport, a single lodge is adjacent to that visitors center. I am sure the lodge can arrange a custom tour of the Serengeti. Good Luck.
- Nobody can sell you a ticket in advance to the Wildebeest migration. The time and route vary each year based on climate and factors known to the wildebeests. Tour guides and operators are all licensed, they are not going to take you off the road, or allow you out of the vehicle in any remote location just because the migration is going on.
- The drivers from all of the companies stay in touch by radio and let each other know where the lions are mating, which kopje has the leopard baby visible, when the hippos are leaving their mud hole, and where ever the migrating wildebeests or zebras are crossing the road or stream.
There is probably not enough to see for four days in the Serengeti - unless you have a special pass for National Geographic or BBC. They get to set up and wait for hours or days if necessary. What most visitors do is a half day in Terangire National Park, 2.5 days in Serengeti, at least a day in Ngorogoro Crater N.P. The last one is the most guaranteed place to see wildlife, its a closed crater and a million animals to wander around. Also consider visiting Olduvai in the Serengeti.
- Most of the guide companies are set up outside the parks, and live in Arusha or Moshi. You will still have to pay for the day for them to drive in to meet you and then drive back. You might as well join them for the Safari Massage (bumpy drive) and enjoy the side trips, visits, Maasai boma, et cetera.
I stil suggest starting with Mary at African Scenic. She customized Kilimanjaro an dSerengeti trips for two groups (oldsters/millennials) and everything went great.
If you want to summit Kilimanjaro you can be on the mountain the day the plane lands at Kili airport, and on a flight out after 6PM the day you come down.
- There is no way to do that for the Wildebeest migration and the Serengeti. Those amazing NatGeo pictures are rare sights and captured by people with permission to camp remotely.
There are a handful of campgrounds in the Serengeti, African Scenic suggested it was best to camp in tents nearest wherever the animals are in a very large park. The alternative is a single centrally located lodge which will require you to get up at 3AM instead of the 6AM to catch the morning predators and sights.

I traveled with African Scenic Safaris on a 4 day 3 night "Short and Sweet" safari and it was perfect. We spent the first night at Lake Manyara, the second night in the Serengeti, and the third night in the Ngorongoro Crater. We saw all kinds of wildlife, including the big five and many others. We saw at least 20 lions. We had the option of visiting a maasai village, but did not choose to stop and visit, so I can not speak to that. For a 4 day safari, we felt the trip and itinerary were excellent and plenty of time. We enjoyed our guide and loved the food.

I agree with Lindsay M. Amanda is very helpful and will design a trip to fit your budget. Even just a one-day or overnight trip to Tarangire National Park will give you the opportunity to see an amazing amount of wildlife. It would be worthwhile if you can swing it.

I had exact the same experience. Greyson was our guide and a driver in the same time. That was actually the best solution as once he noticed an animal he was driving us to the best spot right away. He was also stopping in the perfect places for us to take the most beautiful pictures, for example of the sunset around savanna ❤️

Has anyone got an experience using this company for Safari, Kilimanjaro & Zanzibar. We're trying to cram all into a 3 week trip if possible. All reviews I've read about the company are glowing!! That's really positive.
We were thinking of doing a safari first, just to get over the jetlag, followed by Kilimanjaro and then a few days down time on Zanzibar.

We were a group of three as well. We ended up paying a little bit extra to have the Safari as a private one so we could spread out in the car and move around for the best viewpoints.
In terms of the itinerary, we did Kilimanjaro first as we wanted to get the hard bit out of the way so we could relax for the rest of the trip. We then did the Safari, and then turned into vegetables on the beaches of Zanzibar. If we were to do it again, we would probably do it the same way. TBH, sitting down in the Safari vehicle for 6+ hours a day probably wont do your muscles any good before the hike, but up to your group. We spent 2 days in Moshi and stretched out legs out by visiting the town, and walking around a fair bit to loosen the muscles up, we were fine by the time we started our trek.
We based ourselves in Moshi flying out of Kili Airport for both the Hike and Safari. We then flew to Zanzibar on our self organised trip.
Yes, flights were on the pricy side (from Melbourne). We had to fly to the UAE (Abu Dhabi) then fly to Kenya (Nairobi), and then on to Tanzania (Kili). That was the quickest flight we could find.
We brought most of our own gear, you can rent some of the stuff when you get to Tanzania (during the pre climb meeting) but in retrospect I hired some wet weather gear that I probably should have just bought myself from like a sportsdirect or something.
Temps on summit night probably the coldest you will experience. I Think it was -9c when we went in Jan.
Can't recall the cost as we added in a few things such as portable toilet, and then the government slapped the VAT tax on our trip. It was all done in USD though. Prices were very reasonable compared to some of the bigger companies.
