In 2018, a group of about 20 of us embarked on an adventure of a lifetime with George and his team at Kili Brothers. I had researched many companies and the reviews at that stage were already outstanding from Kilibrothers on Tripadviser. I was the group organiser based in South Africa, and contacted Killi Brothers, within the hour I was emailed back. I was taken aback at how fast, friendly and efficient this company was! They handled all the queries and logistics that come with managing such a big group, from flight arrangements from different cities in South Africa to dietary requirements and insurance (more about this later, as it was vitally important) A group of us had problems with our connecting flight from Kenya to Tanzania and ended up landing at 2 am of the first day of our trek. This did not stop Killi brothers from being at the airport at that time to warmly welcome us and take us to our hotel. We had a briefing, and gear check before the trip as well as a traditional sending off party with who would be our guides on the mountain. Our expedition started off and we had some hikers who experienced altitude sickness at various stages of the hiking days. Some hikers were slow and some were fast, we were a group made up of all different ages and walks of life, but the efficiency and LOVE and CARE that the Killibrothers showed (without an expectation of anything) was unbelievable. The food was delicious! and the team of porters never failed in making sure our tents and toilet tents were set up and ready for us when we arrived. One member had to descend on day two, and was accompanied by a professional head guide, on day 4/5 three other members had to descend again accompanied by a head guide to make sure the health of those members were constantly monitored along the way. Our group had insurance with SAR (Search and Rescue) Kilimanjaro Ltd. However the three members could not be airlifted as the weather made it impossible for the helicopter to land. They however made it safely down on foot and had 4x4's waiting for them with a doctor to check their vitals and evalaute them all the way back the the High Altitude section of the Hospital run by SAR Killimanjaro. On summit day, at 5000m I had to turn back as I was experiencing breathing difficulties, I was fortunate to be able to be airlifted at the height of base camp, 4500m- later to find out I was 6 weeks pregnant at the hospital! My son is now 1 years old and so strong, we joke its the mountain air. Killibrothers managed us with so much care and love during this time, they kept us in contact with our team who went on to summit, and the rest of us were cared for like family members by Killibrothers and SAR Kilimanjaro. The rest of our team made it to Stella Point!! The weather was fierce on that night and to proceed to Uhuru would have been reckless. We had so much fun!! So many MEMORIES! I cant describe how amazing our time was in the mountain with our friends and our new family made at Killibrothers. Equally important was to make sure we all got home safely. The mountain will always be there, and we were all grateful to be on the same page with regards to priorities. Life came first. Our expereince with Killibrothers cannot be summed up in these words about, sometimes people touch your heart so deeply, the magic is left for years to come. Asante Sana Killibrothers thank you! You have not seen the last of us, we indeed to soon come back, not being pregnant, lol, and stand together on Uhuru. Thank you for the warm sending off party you had for us at the end and taking each team back at different times to their flights. Thank you for checking up on us when we arrived back home! Thank you for all your had done. If you are thinking of an adventure of a life time and to experience the warmth love and culture of its people, Killibrothers are YOUR TEAM! ps. Take out the insurance from SAR Killimanjaro Litd, when we needed it, it saved our lives, dont skip this. When I was airlifted, there was a doctor on board as well to make sure I was stable as well.

JAMBO! If you're looking for the best guide company for your Kili climb or safari, you've found them. My husband and I did the 7 day Lemosho trek, 4 day safari, Maasai tour and coffee/waterfall tour with Kilimanjaro Brothers. So, we'll start at the beginning! Before we booked we read a ton of reviews and emailed a couple different guide companies, George was the most responsive and laid out the best itinerary. We trusted him from the start as he started as a porter himself and built his own local business. We were picked up from the airport by Kibo, with the warmest smile and most welcoming attitude. The next morning when we went to pay the balance of our trip, our cards didn't work, we called the bank and got it sorted and when I apologized for the delay he said "Hakuna Matata!" with the biggest smile! Kili Climb: Before we left our hotel for the climb, our guides Karimu and Joseph came to our room to check our gear. They double checked to make sure we were prepared for all elements. We rented 1 sleeping bag that was high quality and warm. We felt very safe with Karimu and Joseph, they were highly knowledgeable, fun, and attentive to us. Edward was our chef, his food was excellent. August was our waiter and he took great care of us. We loved when he brought coffee to our tent in the morning and he would boil water to put in our Nalgene bottles at night to keep us extra warm in our sleeping bags. We summited a day early because our group was feeling healthy and strong. One of the porters, Stanley, joined us on the summit day and was an awesome addition. We had the best experience on the mountain with Kilimanjaro Brothers! Safari: We did 4 days of Safari in Tanagarie, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti. Sharif was our guide and we couldn't have asked for a better one! He was so nice and knowledgeable about all the animals. He also has an amazing eye for finding animals we would have never seen. We saw Africa's Big 5 animals in 1 day! Tortillas camp was our favorite place to stay. If you want to book with a company where you feel like family then book with Kili Brothers. George met us before and after the hike and joined us for a dinner. We watched Karimu and Joseph pick up garbage on the mountain to throw away in trash cans. Sharif would collect uneaten lunch items and package them together to hand out to hungry children on our drives out of the parks. Kibo joined us on the Massai and coffee tour and made us feel like we were just hanging out with our friends rather than being on a "tour". Not only did they all do their jobs exceptionally well but they are good caring people! A few things to consider: 1. Most places like and will accept American Dollars, but bring a few Tanzanian Shilling for the smaller vendors and places you may stop along the way. And bring smaller bills for dividing up tips. 2. Pack extra hiking gear that's taking up closet space for your porters! Coats, fleece, socks, hats, rain gear, gloves, boots, literally anything! You will understand when you see them, they are incredible men and need your donations. 3. Tip the porters generously! Your tip is their income and they more than earn it. 4. Drink at least 3 liters of water a day on the climb, and bring Nuun flavor tablets for no other reason than you'll want to drink more if it tastes good. 5. Bring Diamox! 1 tablet with breakfast and 1 tablet with lunch (125mg). 6. Don't take your malaria medication on the mountain, it's not necessary and it messes with your stomach. 7. Eat when you're not hungry, you need the energy and the food is awesome. 8. Sunscreen is your friend, even if you tan well, the sun is brutal even on a overcast day. 9. Go with the flow and appreciate everything!

So glad that we chose 'Kilimanjaro Brothers' for our trip. If we do another route we will not look at any other Company. The Guides Justin and Eli were highly competent, calm, experienced and safe and along with the 10 amazing porters were the reason we managed to summit Uhuru. For myself (60) and my wife (51) we wanted to ensure that if we were going to attempt Kilimanjaro we did it with an experienced reputable local Company that treat their staff well and we wanted to ensure that we managed to have sufficient days to acclimate. 8 day Lemosho is the route with the highest success rate, and is the most beautiful and scenic route. In the Office Kelvin responded to all my emails very quickly and efficiently and answered all our questions. He was very professional. We stayed in the Parkview Inn in Moshi which was perfect. (organised by Kili Bros) Dont even consider not taking/paying for your own toilet. It is a must and worth far more than the extra $s you pay. You will understand this at 3am in the morning when you are in camp at 4,600m, -5 degrees outside and need to use the toilet! Apart from summit night we found day 4 quite hard when we had our first excursion upto 4,600m at Lava tower. Some top tips: 1. Pay for your own toilet 2.Drink 4-5 litres of water per day to avoid/minimise headaches and nausea at high altitude 3.Make sure you always wash your hands on the mountain and are careful with hygiene 4. Walk pole, pole at all times. Save your energy. It is not a race there are no prizes for first place. 5.Listen and act on the Guides advice. They have been up to Uhuru hundreds of times. 6.Go with an open heart and mind and respect the lovely Tanzanian people and of course the Mountain, it is nearly 6,000m! 7.Be generous with your tipping at the end of the Trek make sure you have sufficient $ up the mountain with you. 8. Leave all the equipment and clothing that you can for the porters ie plan to take extra items that you can leave. You will marvel and respect the porters when you see the work that they do. 9. Enjoy every minute, it will be the experience of a lifetime. 10. Take some sugary snacks for the Trek 11.Bring some light trainers for the Camps at night We had an amazing experience. Use Kilimanjaro Brothers, you will not be disappointed.

When I was looking into booking my Trek to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, I was unsure about many companies on the world wide Web. I took hours of research and got it down to a few. I went with Kilimanjaro brothers and I was so happy that I did. Their owner George is a man that has worked up from porter to guide to head guide to owner and he knows and understands what is needed to take on this very tough but exciting Trek. His Staff are all professional and very good at their jobs, you can book your Trek with Kilimanjaro brothers safe in the knowledge that you will be well looked after in the Hotels, on the mountain, on safari, the whole package. Guides....Karamboo and Joseph are friendly, polite, knowledgeable and professional. Kitchen staff.... They serve up the most wonderful food, I don't know how they do it but you won't be disappointed. Porters....Lions of men, polite, friendly and so necessary to a successful Trek. Medical stuff Diamox 125g tablets. 1 in the morning. 1 in the afternoon. My doctor gave me 250g tablets I had to split the tablet every day. Make sure to tell you doctor 125g tablets only. Paracetamol take these with you. No need to take malaria tablets on the mountain. Sunblock a must even if you tan well as the equatorial sun burns hard. Sun hat a must. Water you will need 3 litres a day while walking. They boil the water at night so you have drinking water every day. Maybe take tablets to dissolve in the water to flavour it? Makes it taste better that's all. Your kit will be examined the night before you leave to make sure you have all the necessary gear. If you don't you can hire this. Sleeping bag should be good quality and minus 20 rated. Again supplied. Sleeping mats are supplied Plasters take with you as you may get a blister? Hard drinking bottles are only allowed on the mountain. Camelbak good to have 3L if possible mine was 2.5 that was also ok with a 1L bottle. No soft plastic bottles allowed ok. There was 3 in my party and we were all good during the journey and we were given the option to summit in the afternoon as apposed to sunrise? We took that chance and walked up to the summit in daylight which in my opinion is better than night? Again we were lucky that no one was struggling really. The view ? Well you climb it and see for yourself. I hope this review helpful you decide on your choice? Good luck

When I was looking to book my trek to climb mount Kilimanjaro, I was unsure about all the companies who tell you they are the best to take you up a mountain in a foreign country. I researched many on the www and was left with a few choices. I went with Kilimanjaro brothers and I was not dissappointed. Their owner George is a local man who has risen from porter to owning a company that makes your stay in Tanzania go as easy as saying Pole Pole, His Staff are all good at what they do and very professional. Medicine...Diamox 125g tablets 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon. My doctor prescribed me 250g tablets, I had to split my tablets. Malaria tablets, no need to take them on the mountain,, bring paracetomol tablets just incase you feel a little unwell. Sunblock a must, even if you tan well, the equatorial sun really does burn , Sun hat a must, Water... 3 litres a day while walking, camelbak good and if not enough carry water in hard shelled bottles, NO SOFT PLASTIC BOTTLES ALLOWED. Also bring tablets to flavour water as you will be glad as boiled water does not really taste great. They boil it every night so you have drinking water the following day. Guides...Karrimor & Joseph. friendly, polite, knowledgeable and professional. Kitchen staff...Serves up the most wonderful food. I dont know how but you will be glad they do. Porters...Lions of men, Polite, friendly and so necessary to a successful summit. Money, Dollars ( small notes 1, 5, 10, 20) are widely accepted but also have someTanzanian money as going into little shops I found is easier. You sort out all tips and payment of guides, porters, staff when you return so no need to take all your money up the mountain. but have a few local notes or dollars just incase you see something that you fancy buying en route to and from hotel to start of trek. Your kit will be examined before you start your trek and if you need stuff you can hire it. I hope this helps you decide on making up your mind as to which company you choose to go with but I would recommend Kilimanjaro Brothers. as for the view???? well go climb it and look for yourself.

Thanks ever so much for your support. I started to work as a Kilimanjaro Free Rance Porter, wait a daily a job at the gate, later the best guide all Tanzania and now a Licensed Class Tour Operators. It was not easy to for our local tour company on competition with overseas company and middle men but with your powerful review and hand support now we have demonstration company that treat fares ourselves. Lather than waiting a donation,we organize and guide ourselves Kilimanjaro trips that makes us to us to become stable and secure. The profit we obtain on trips we we use to pay ourselves training required, office facilities, camping and insurance. When you book to us we see you not only climbing the mountain but also your doing a charity and let our children to go school. Once again, thank a million times for your support.
