We found shiri through a travel blogger Amanda Wanders via social media. When we began researching our Tanzania/Zanzibar honeymoon Africa trip we were nervous as we were not utilizing a US travel agent and chose to select Shiri just based on reviews of others. This company has gone above and beyond our expectations and created the most incredible experience for us.
Linus responded to our messages day or night so quickly and made every effort to make sure we were taken care of. Being so far from home this made us feel safe and taken care of while in Africa. We made changes to our itinerary while in Africa due to not enjoying the tented lodge experience and Linus was right on it getting us to where we wanted to be so we could enjoy our trip!
Our safari guide Francis was incredible. We had no idea how wrong you could go in this area (some guides get lost because they are new, their cars break down, they are late, these are all possible on the safari) but our guide with Shiri was a professional. Always on time, always friendly and ready to go with a smile. He navigated the parks like a pro. We were lucky enough to see the big 5 and he was great company for the long car rides! Plus our trip was private just us 2 and they printed custom honeymoon jeep tire covers for us. So personal and made us so happy!
The entire shiri team is incredible. Cannot say enough great things. We are forever grateful for this experience!

We did a trip to Rwanda/Uganda and Tanzania at the beginning of May. We had a very positive experience with Shiri Adventures. Linus spent a lot of time helping us to prepare the trip and was always very responsive to questions, queries and requests. We experienced a few hiccup with our flights, and Linus was very accommodative to ensure our itinerary would not be heavily modified, even at his own expense. On one occasion, we realised staying one more night in Uganda would be detrimental to us going back on time to Kigali, and Linus arranged for us to change the hotel booking at the last minute. On another occasion, the camp we had booked wanted to cancel our booking at the last minute as they were refurbishing the common area. Linus pushed for us to still be hosted there and we ended up being the sole guests in the largest tent with a very exclusive VIP experience.
Shiri Adventures had a network of very nice and professional guides. In Rwanda, we had a great time with Gavis, who was always looking after us, and helped us discover some local street food.
In Tanzania, we went to the Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti, and had one of the most experienced guides, Laurent, who has exceptional eyes and is able to spot animals from very far away. We saw all the big 5, plenty of cats, and Laurent spotted the right spots to see the wildebeest migration. All in all, a fantastic experience, worth every penny.
Some advice for your trip:
- We went at the beginning of May which is theoretically the rainy season (lasting from beginning to the end of May). We were very lucky as we did not have a single day of rain and a much more exclusive experience given the very few tourists (at Serena Manyara, there were so few guests that they cancelled the buffet and offered us a tasting menu instead). We do recommend to try your luck at that time.
- Visiting a Masai village is worth it despite the USD 50 per car fee, although we would recommend just choosing a random one on the way to Serengeti. There is a lovely one on the road to Serengeti towards the end of the Ngorongoro conservation area, on a very green valley between 2 mountains when the road bends. Visiting a Masai village is not an obligation given, if you stay in a tented camp (strongly recommended for at least 2 nights), you can interact with the Masai working there for your protection.
- Don't hesitate to bargain hard at roadside craft markets as they tend to price their items very high (the same items were 3x more expensive there than at the Arusha airport market).

When researching safari options for ourselves in Nov 2021 we came across a number of providers and sent numerous enquiries. Some never bothered to reply, some were very blunt and unhelpful and some were simply so slow to respond. Linus from Shiri Adventures however was prompt with his reply and was reachable by email and watsap, pretty much whenever we required, considering the time difference.
A safari has been on our list of trips to do for some years and we had done our research before exploring options, however it was great to hear from Linus regarding current situations in Tanzania, for example the changing weather patterns affecting the animal movements, so we could ensure our trip would not only be value for money but also give us the best chance of seeing Tanzania at its best. After a good few weeks of emails back and forth we settled on an itinerary. Linus’s patience during this was brilliant.
Obviously with the changing COVID protocols in the UK and around the world we were very nervous about proceeding with this type of trip as the amount of money being spent is of course a large sum and we needed reassurances that should situations change we would be able to re-book at a minimum, if not receive a full refund. Added to that, the fact of transferring money to an unknown account abroad always makes you nervous, however various payment options were provided to us, and Linus put a huge amount of trust in us as customers, and I think this is the overriding element I will take from dealing with Linus and Shiri Adventures, the trust aspect that we would not be let down by them or taken advantage of, even in these terrible times for the world and tourism especially.
Special requests were noted, for instance my intention to propose during the trip, and when the initial activity had to be changed due to unsuitable conditions outside of anyones control, alternative arrangements were provided a few days later.
Our driver during the trip had excellent knowledge and spoke brilliant English, and you could feel he had a genuine passion for what he was doing.
I would have no second thoughts about recommending Shiri Adventures or indeed using them again. Prompt, friendly, trustworthy and value for money, I think the team are a total testament to Tanzania and it’s amazing wildlife and landscapes, and they operate exactly how a tourism company should.
Thanks for an amazing trip during incredibly tough times for tourism, and we both wish you the very best for 2022 and the future!

I was climbing Kilimanjaro last year with 4 friends.
I have been on many expeditions in my life but this one beats every single one by a mile. The dedication and profesionalism second to none. The guides are smart, knowledgeable and great guys overall. The entire supporting crew is taking care of you but it the same time you feel like they are part of the team. From first online communication, through pre expedition preparation, climbing and finishing with the after party everything was on point. Considering the cost of the park fees included in the package the cost of the expedition is ridiculously low. Tip them well please- best money I ever spent.

Very good value for the money, Linus (the main guy) is very professional and responsive. We took the 8 days Northern Circuit route up to the Kilimanjaro Uhuru peak and then 3 days safari to Serengeti. Both experiences were exceptional, guides were professional and spoke very good English. Even after my luggage got stuck in Amsterdam and we had to postpone the hike two times, Linus handled everything perfectly and even arranged me with backup gear so that we could make the hike on time, in case my luggage didn't arrive. Luckily, on the last day I finally got it and we successfuly made it to the top. Overall, I highly recommend Shiri Adventures as a company who really takes care of it's customers and has professional, experienced staff for good price.

We had the time of our lives in Africa because of Shiri Adventures! Their customer service was 10/10 ALWAYS day or night responses so quickly throughout our 2 week trip. Our Safari was amazing, so much fun, and truly an unforgettable experience. We did 4 parks in 6 days in our private safari tour. Our guide Francis was so knowledgeable answering so many questions about the area, the culture, and the animals!
Also, our second week we adventured to Zanzibar all expertly coordinated by Shiri down to every last detail. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this company. (And truthfully - we are not easy customers as we have traveled many places and have high expectations) If you are looking for experts and a superior experience, look no further. You won’t be disappointed choosing Shiri!

I did a 7 day safari with Shiri Adventures and it was incredible. Full disclosure, I did get mine severely discounted as we worked together on content creation/promotion, but I can honestly say I would have absolutely paid full price to do it.
Our guide Laurent was amazing. Linus, the Managing Director, is a godsend and helped us with some issues that popped up right before we left as well as answering every little question we had along the way.
This trip was the time of our lives (me and my husband went for our honeymoon). I couldn't recommend it enough, and I found Shiri to be very reasonable in cost compared to many other safaris at this level.
And we saw the big 5! I'm telling you, our guide had supervision.
10/10 would recommend Shiri Adventures.

For our wedding, I organized a surprise trip for my wife to Tanzania. After contacting different agencies, I chose to take this trip with Linus from Shiri Adventures and I can only recommend it. He did more than agreed, a personalized car for us, a meal on a hill facing the sunset in the middle of Serengenthi, etc. All respecting my budget constraint.
And our driver Yunus was just excellent, we learned so much about the wildlife. We could see all the animals including some, giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras, cheetahs within a meter.
For us, the only negative point, the time we stayed : too short !
Thank you to them for their kindness, their availability, their sharing of the Tanzanian, their endless smiles and finally for making this trip an unforgettable experience. We will miss you.

Me and a friend did a 6-day deluxe Tanzania safari (Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Manyara). The communication with Linus went effortlessly and he was always quick to respond. We also added a visit to the Masaai tribe (which lasted an hour or so). This was a nice add-on to learn about the the indigenious way of living. We spent the 1st night at a hotel in Arusha and the other days in lodges and tented camp. Everything was so well organized and wherever we went we were always welcomed with a smile. Tanzanian people in overall are really kind. Our safari trip was amazing and definitely a once in a lifetime experience. We have seen the migration crossing which was such a big highlight of my trip. Because of our guide's (Marick) experience and patience we were able to see so many wild creatures. Just like that we could already check off the big 5 on our 2nd day, with the black rhino as the last one, which was at the end of the day on our way to camp! We have witnessed some beautiful sunrises, one just from a hill not so far from our camp. The food, OMG, was so delicious. We did a bush lunch in the Serengeti which was amazing. And we have received a Shiri adventures T-shirt which is really cool! Props to Shiri adventures for organizing our unforgettable safari trip!

Climbing Kilimanjaro was the best experience of my life. Linus was the best guide we could have asked for. He is smart, engaged, thoughtful, funny, and puts his client's experiences at the forefront. He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is safe and having a great time. I highly recommend Shiri Adventures to anyone who is considering climbing Kili. I also spent 6 months in Tanzania after my climb and got to know Linus very well. I can speak to his character and trust him in any situation.
