I have never been in Africa but I always wanted to visit Kenya or Tanzania and see the amazing landscapes and experience a safari. At first I was a bit nervous because I am usually more of an "urban traveller" and was slightly overwhelmed by all the different tour companies who offer safaris and day-trips. I sent E-Mails to several tour companies but went with Umoja tours in the end because of the very detailed information and their warm/friendly tone. I had a lot of questions and they patiently answered all of them and created an individual tour plan. I decided to do the day trip to the hot springs and the safari. Upon arrival at the airport I was greeted warmly by Oliver and her son and we drove to the guesthouse. It was super clean and had everything we needed to settle in and beat the jet lag :). Our first adventure was the day trip to the hot springs which are breathtakingly beautiful. Chrystal clear water, lush vegetation in the middle of nowhere: Truely an oasis. We just spend the day rope swinging into the water, relax and we even had the opportunity to have a conversation with the curious locals. And now onto my personal highlight (besides the welcoming nature of our hosts and tour guides): the safari trip. We went with the 3 days trip which brought us to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro national park because that are the most known ones and you have a good chance to spot animals. Our tour guide was just fantastic: he is very knowledgable and told us a lot about the protection and conservation of the parks, its history, more information on the animals we saw. He never got tired of answering all our questions not just regarding the national parks, but life in general in Tanzania. We slept in tents and it was just amazing to be out there during the night because you could hear so many different animals. All in all, I can highly recommend Umoja Tours. I felt very well taken care of and the whole team went above and beyond to make this an unforgettable experience. I am already thinking about coming back and try to tackle Mt. Meru.
