What an experience.. my wife and I were looking for a company to book some hiking/safaris through, and what a gem Mawenzi Adventures turned out to be! Lili is so kind and responsive, and she went above and beyond to customize an itenerary to accommodate our schedule!

We started with a hike to Materuni Waterfall followed by a local village coffee farm experience. Macho, our guide, was an amazing guy and provided us with much knowledge about the people and scenery. Macho was also born in the local village which added to the authenticity of the hike! After visiting the waterfall we hiked through to the guesthouse for an incredible lunch by a local Shimbwe chef. Following this, we hiked to a coffee farm… I won’t spoil it but this experience was one of a kind :) couldn’t recommend this experience enough.

The following day we did a day safari to Arusha National Park with Beatus. He was also a wonderful guide and could not recommend him enough! Having studied wildlife he knew the answer to ALL of our questions about wildlife and plants! The walking safari with the park ranger and the game safaris through the park were the perfect end to our time in Tanzania, and we were so happy to see so many amazing animals.

Thank you to Lili, Macho, Beatus, and the Mawenzi Adventures team for an amazing experience!!! There’s no doubt we will be visiting Tanzania again and using Mawenzi for any of our adventures

I climbed Kilimanjaro with another company, and then a friend came out from the USA to meet me for a safari. We wanted to stay on in Tanzania to experience more "non-touristy" activities and after contacting a few companies I settled on Mawenzi Adventures because I liked the fact that they respect the local people and support sustainable and responsible tourism. Also, Liesbeth replied quickly to my questions, and helped me to organise an itinerary to suit our needs. She made suggestions that I may not have realised were on offer otherwise and which fitted in with our wishes. We spent four days doing activities organised by Liesbeth. Two days were spent at Shimbwe village in the foothills of Kilimanjaro. This was a wonderful experience, staying in a family owned guesthouse (Shimbwe Meadows Guest House) which grows its own organic vegetables. The food was simply out of this world, fresh and healthy, as well as very sustaining! Victor was our guide as we hiked around the villages and he was a wealth of information on the Chagga way of life, as well as teaching us about the wildlife and plants. His passion is contagious! Everyone at the guesthouse was friendly and welcoming and it was hard to leave! We also spent a day exploring Moshi on foot with our guide Chris who took us to the various markets and also to the Deaf Tailoring Group which employs deaf people who may otherwise have no employment. We bought some of their colourful and very reasonably proced items and enjoyed their company for half an hour. We then shopped for fresh vegetables and fruit in the market and Chris took us to a house on the outskirts of Moshi where "Mama" cooked us a wonderful lunch in her home. We felt as if we'd known these people all our lives as we chatted and enjoyed our meal. We were also scheduled to have dinner in a local restaurant, but after a walk to the Railway Station we decided we were tired (and too full) to do that, so Chris very kindly took us to a supermarket where we bought some cake for an evening snack. Our final day in Tanzania was perfect! Chim drove us to Kikuletwa hot springs where we relaxed in the warm water and enjoyed watching the antics of some of the younger people! We also had a delicious lunch of pasta with fresh vegetables. Liesbeth had then arranged for us to return to Moshi for a massage at the Lala Salama Spa which was just wonderful and helped to prepare us for the long flight home the next day. Liesbeth runs a great company, and I would recommend anyone to book with Mawenzi Adventures. Tours can be adapted to suit individual wishes, which made it feel like a really personal service. Thank you everyone at Mawenzi Adventures!!

What an amazing and well organised trip, Liesbeth and her team did à perfect job To ensure we had a great 2 week holiday. From the airport pick ups, with the unforgettable safari and to end with a beach holiday in Zanzibar. A word about the safari…..incredible and grateful to have experienced this, from Tarangire towards Serengeti and Ngorongoro! Amazing to see the wildlife live (😉), something we will never forget. Big thank you to Dickson for being our guide and ensure we had the best view, and ensure we were on time in the really nice lodges every evening. Sleeping in a very comfortable accomodation, hearing the wild animals just next to you is just wow. A private bush dinner was a very appreciated surprise. À trip we will keep in our memory, and one day we will be back! Thanks Liesbeth, Dickson, Chim and the rest of the team!

My sister Felicia and I had the pleasure to book our experiences with Mawnzi last July. It was amazing, The guides Chim and Hemedi were so kind and always ready to help. They really made sure that we had a great experience. We did Materuni waterfall and chemko. And the last day we needed a ride to the bus station and Lisbeth provided it to us for free considering the fact that Chim, one of our guide had to wake up at 5 am to take us there. Felicia and I would like to thank you a lot the experience was so amazing. 🙏 Mawenzi, the place to go🥰

The entire ownership at Mawnezi and especially Alan were excellent in our experience. We spent about two and a half days with our guide (Alan) at two different sites. We saw lions, elephants, zebra, rhinos, zebra, etc. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable on everything we saw and catered to us without any hesitation. Cannot recommend this guide service highly enough. We hope to return in the near future with our children and will only use Mawenzi!
