This business is a scam. The person behind is known as John Meela. The teacher. I lost a lot of money because he took a deposit than cancelled the website, the number. Changed it, the new contact details also do not work. It seems he is now living in Dar Es Salaam, hiding. It's been shocking as he used apparently to be a good business man and now hurt the local business through his actions.

My best friend and I booked an 8 days Lemosho route hike to Kilimanjaro. John picked us up at the airport and immediately started to pressure us into doing the Marangu one. At first, I didn't feel comfortable with it because of the low success rate, however, with his reasoning - it was raining all the time so the huts were more comfortable etc., we agreed. After all, the hike was successful and our guides and porters were AMAZING and made it the best experience of our lives. Thanks to that, John gained our trust. We also booked Safari with him and right after our hike, he came to us and asked for extra 700 dollars to make the safari happen and that he would return the money after we came back from the safari. However, it never happened.

We got in touch with this company when we searched around internet. They had the cheapest prices for 4 people for climbing Kilimajaro and safari (We booked 7 days Lemosho route to Kilimajaro and 3 days safari). We started emailing this company and the owner John Meela . At first he wanted us to pay by bank transfer in advance, but we refused and insisted that we could pay a small down payment and the rest we will pay once we are in Tanzarnia. Once we were in Tanzania , we realized that he was just an agency an intermediary taking in companies that had guides and porters. Our team up to Kilimajaro was really good. The problems started when we were going on safari. Because we had such a good experience from Kilimanjaro, we trusted that John would have been at least as good with the coordination for the safari. He started making excuses that he needed extra money to secure the safari and the money we already paid him he has secured for another group that would come. We believed in him and lent $ 1,000, he promised that we would get the money back after 14 days. The problem is that 6 months have passed now and he comes up with new excuses all the time. Now we can not get in touch with him anymore. We know that the money is gone and we hope people in the future will be extra careful with this. John Meela as he is called or maybe changed his name is very good at talking convincing, the reason why I gave 1* to the company. The peopl and the team that took us up to Kilimanjaro was 5 *****. But I would definitely not recommend that you book through this company.

I had a real bad experience with Uhuru Smiles. I booked the 8 day Lemosho route to Kili. Before the trek I was asked for additional money to start it. We finally did the 7-day trek, although I paid for the 8-day. The guides and porters were great, and they made it a great experience. On the way back to Moshi, I had booked a two day safari trip to Ngorongoro crater. The owner John Meela was unable to organize it (due to the covid situation he could not bundle a group of people), so I had to book another one on my own. A lot of excuses and lies from Mr. Meela, but never got the money for the safari back. I felt scammed. And I was told this was not the first time that this had happended with another travelers. My recomendation, if you are planning to go to Moshi to climb Kili or do any other activity, is to do yourself a favor and book with another company.

Once in a life time trip, traveled half way around the globe and a very successful kilimanjaro hike, Safari and 10k mountain bike ride to visit local Masaai tribe with the help of John and his team in Uhuru smiles, much thanks to Hussein aka Kijanga my head guide and his crew for making it possible, the hike was made even more interesting with his knowledge of the plants and flowers along the way. Thanks for the motivation along the hike.
