The service was perfect. We were transfered from the airport to the hotel and the next the we received a tour through Moshi town. This was their idea and was free of charge, how very nice of them! The next day we went on our 4 day safari. We had a more than amazing time with Freddy, the guide, and Dickinson, the cook. Freddy made sure we had seen all the animals and thanks to him we had the most beautiful experiences! He was very patiecned with us and he drove nicely! The camping in the national parks was great. The chef made some delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and diner. Thanks to Shayo Trekking and Safari we have had so much beautiful experiences and memories. Thank you Paul, Freddy and Dickinson!

The safari was really nice. We saw four of the big five! There were many animals playing and saw some lions hunting the zebras. Freddy, our guide, was very nice to us. He knew a lot about the animals. We slept at 1 lodge and 2 campsites. All three were very nice to stay. At one campsite we heard even some lions roaring behind our tent. This was a great experience. The food was really good and the chef was very nice. Paul was a great guy and helped us from the beginning till the end having a great safari.

We’ve just finished a 4 day safaari with Shayo trekking and safari. Our trip went from Tangire, 2 day Serengeti to Ngorongoro. Words can hardly describe what a fantastic experience we had with Shayo! Before the trip: Paul Robert Shayo, the owner of the company, replied very quickly via email and had answers to all of the many questions I asked him. He made sure we felt safe and comfortable due the whole preparation process of the safari. Pick up: We arranged a airport transfer to our hotel via Shayo. When we arrived Paul Robert as well as our guide Freddy were there to pick us up at the airport. Paul contacted our hotel before the pickup and asked if everything as ok there. Due to covid19 the hotel was not open yet, and Paul arranged another hotel for us! The safari: In one word: AMAZING! The Landcruiser was very comfortable with even a charger inside the car. This came very handy because of all the beautiful photo’s we took and our batteries ran down very quickly. We saw so many different animals, lions, cheetahs, buffalos, zebras, rhinos, giraffes etc…… Our guide: Freddy was our guide for the whole 4 days. He prepared everything and he even took us to Moshi town before the safari for a tour through the city. He shown us some nice spots and told us all kind of things about the city! During the safari he was very nice and he knew everything about the animals. Also he spotted every animal in the surrounding area! He knew exactly what we wanted, stay longer at some lions or stay shorter at some animals we already had seen. We didn’t need to tell him, he just knew. Freddy made this experience extra special! Thank you for that Freddy! Cook: Our cook Dickinson prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was great and always on time. He used fresh products and made everything himself! Sleeping: We slept two days in tents in the national parks and one day in a lodge. Because of covid19 there were some lodges free and Paul upgraded our tent to a lodge on the first night. The campsite were ok but the experience was great! At night we heard lions and zebras walking by. There were guards for our safety. I would recommend Shayo Trekking to everybody who wants a great experience and no stress about the safari. All the staff helped us to let this be a once in a lifetime experience! Thank you Paul, Freddy and Dickinson for this great journey!

We booked a 7 day trekking trip with Shayo Trekking and Safaris to climb Kilimanjaro. Paul (the owner of the tour company) replied promptly to our emails, answering all our queries and questions. Once in Tanzania Paul was always on hand to help with advice, additional excursions and lifts when we changed hotels. Which was extremely helpful and appreciated. As we climbed higher, the altitude made it tough going. Aziz and Seleman were extremely professional, checking our oxygen saturation levels, encouraging diet and fluids. Our Guides were really kind, helpful and very knowledgably on the flora and fauna of the region making the trip very interesting as well as extremely physically challenging. The food prepared by our cook was absolutely outstanding, better than the meals we had eaten in the first hotel we stayed in Moshi and there was always was plenty of it. Boiled water was provided every morning and evening, with a selection of teas, coffee, hot chocolate, ginger and lemon hot drinks. The whole team, Guides, Cook and Porters were really friendly, kind and helpful. This was a truly amazing journey and a privilege to spend time with this team and learn about the culture and way of life in Tanzania. I would highly recommend using local tour companies such as Shayo Ttrekking and Safaris to support local businesses. It was an amazing trip, thank you for your hospitality and looking after us so well.

After I decided to climb Kilimanjaro, I was overwhelmed with selecting the right trekking company as there were so many of them. Luckily, some of my friends are a lot more experienced in outdoor and trekking and they had done extensive research when they climbed Kilimanjaro. Based on their recommendation, I contacted Paul (Shayo) with my trekking and safari requirements. Paul was very patient and timely in responding my requests and questions during planning and I was able to fit the whole trip within my limited timeframe. I was suppose to join a couple of other trekkers for the Kilimanjaro climb on Lemosho route. On the first day, I learnt the other trekkers could not start as their luggages were delayed by the airline. Paul was able to adjust the arrangements with the driver, guide, porters and cook quickly so my trekking schedule was not impacted. I am sure a lot of work had to done behind the scene to make it happen. So I ended up trekking solo with a support team of 5 (1 guide, 1 cook and 3 porters). I was a bit worried at first, but my wonderful trekking support team quickly put me in ease. They were professional, efficient and jolly bunch. Cook Hussein managed to cook variety of meals throughout the trek, and Porter Frank was in charge of making sure I ate enough food amongst other things (It was not an easy task as I lost appetite due to effect of altitude). Judica, my guide, not only kept me entertained with his many stories (It really helped, especially on summit day. I mean, the summit was hard, but coming down from the mountain after all the energy was spent on the summit was just brutal), but also closed monitored my health and fitness level. I was able to complete the trek 1 day ahead of schedule and I could not have done it without the team! Paul was very flexible and accommodating with some of the last minute changes I have requested. Originally, I was planning a 3-day Safari trip, but changed to a 4-day so I could go to Serengeti. Also with completing Kili earlier, he was able to move my Safari trip ahead on short notice which made my trip more 'utilized'. The 4-day safari was the right choice! never seen that many animals in my life. My driver, Daniel, was very skilled at what he does. He always manage to pick and get prime spots for animal viewing and he saved us precious times by expertly driving through flooded road (turns out it rains a lot on Serengeti in January). Keep up the good work Paul!
