We contacted Tanzania Horizon Safaris for a Kilimanjaro climb with a female guide, as well as a 4-day customized tour itinerary. The communication was efficient and prompt from the start and all requests were accommodated. The entire trip went swimmingly without a glitch, and most aspects (pickup, lodging quality, food, professionalism) exceeded my expectations.
Props to our female mountain guide, Josephine, for being a star throughout. Special thanks to Colman and Dennis for their help on summit night. Isaya, David, Johnny, Barakeli and Douglas also deserve special mention for their efforts and kindness. Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to all the other hardworking porters for making this journey possible at all, and for making it a memorable and wholesome experience for us.

We enjoyed one of the most amazing family trips-of-a-lifetime thanks to Tanzania Horizon Safaris, a Tanzanian-operated company. I was glad to be able to work directly with a local company instead of adding another layer of a US travel agent – and to work with people who knew their staff and locations well.
Super kudos go to Elizabeth, the guest/sales manager, who helped tailor our schedule to facilitate specific travel interests and needs. Our trip took us to Gombe; followed by a multi-day stay in Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, the Southern Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater; and a final stop in Moshi to see Mount Kilimanjaro. Elizabeth proved to be an excellent communicator who had great insights into travel times, medical needs, price requests, and a separate trip up to the Kenyan border so that one of my daughters could return to her work. She answered countless questions and was patient and thoughtful throughout. Payment for the trip was easy and secure and the Trip Plans ap was useful.
I also appreciated being able to contact Elizabeth during the trip when I had questions – and her responses, per usual, were timely and helpful. I had read about Elizabeth’s top-level service when looking for safari companies – and I can confirm that she is really that good.
The two-day trip to Gombe was a highlight as we ended up being the only overnight visitors to the park. The guide and cook were fantastic. As a bonus, we ended up meeting with one of the researchers at the Jane Goodall Institute onsite to learn about the ongoing studies. Viewing the chimpanzees was truly magical – and the two hikes plus waterfall hike were strenuous but breath-taking.
Our trip through Taranguire, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Conservancy and Crater were also amazing. Our guide, Kazi, works directly with the company – and has served as a guide for 16 years. Kazi proved to be an excellent driver as we went through everything from dusty roads to torrential rainfalls. He became part of our family trip as we asked him to join us for our breakfasts and dinners at the lodges. We had wonderful conversations with him and enjoyed his sly sense of humor. We saw the animals up close – including a cheetah – and even got to experience part of the great migration (not in of our plans) with thousands of zebra and wildebeest returning to give birth in the area. Our lodgings during the safari were simply amazing – even though we opted for basic lodging that provided overnight electricity and WiFi. That Elizabeth knew these places personally and could recommend them was an added-plus.
I highly recommend Elizabeth and her team at Tanzania Horizon Safaris. They made our trip a phenomenal experience.

Just back from a fantastic Safari. We did 1 day at Tarangeri 2 at Serengeti and the last one at Ngorongoro. Everything was organized to perfection, Accommodation both tented and lodge really high standard. Elizabeth was immediately ready to support us for all our needs and organized our itinerary according to our requests. The Expert and professional Gift Guide on all 4 days, made us live unforgettable emotions.

My experience with Tanzanian Horizon was incredible ! This review simply cannot explain how much of an amazing experience I have had. I have always wanted to do an African safari and with there being so many companies to choose from, this can be quite overwhelming. Thankfully I came across Tanzanian Horizon. Elizabeth was just superb! She asked me what I wanted from the experience and created a personalised itinerary, which can I say was very superior to other companies, you could tell it was created solely for you and not generic. She was so helpful with any questions and concerns I had.
From pick up to drop off, the whole trip was just perfect. No issues arised and everything just ran smoothly. My guide: Frank, was very knowledgeable and friendly and was great company. Along with the chef; Barack, who cooked some amazing food and really made an effort during the whole experience. Also a lovely guy to get to know. The parks Elizabeth chose for me: Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, simple ticked off everything I wanted from an African Safari. Seeing 4 out of the big 5, I was lucky and what a once in a lifetime trip, I will remember for the rest of my life.

I cannot recommend this company highly enough. From my first email to Elizabeth everything was handled in such a professional way and nothing was too much trouble. She listened to our requests and she was so quick to respond. She put an amazing personalised itinerary together, all within our budget. From our first pickup at the airport with Saidi and our city tour with him and Guntram, to our amazing accommodations, meals, internal flights, everything just went according to plan. Our amazing guide Hussein went out of his way to make our stay in Kigoma so incredible. Our visit to Gombe and the staff who accompanied us Samjee, Hassain and Salaem, they all made our visit so memorable, we cannot thank them enough. The guides, trackers and rangers in the National Park were so devoted to their work and we learnt so much about the chimps and their habitat. Our day trip with Muphasa and Guntram to the Tinga Tinga Paints Market and another local market in Dar was an added bonus.
Our tour of Southern Tanzania visiting Nyerere, Mikumi, Udzungwa & Ruaha National Parks was exceptional. To the best driver ever, Davis, we cannot thank him enough for making us feel so safe every day. He had an incredible knowledge of the animals, but we also learnt so much about his beautiful country and its people. It was such a pleasure to get to know him, he was simply the best. His smile, his humour and his many stories made every day so special, we will never forget his kindness.
Everyone literally went above and beyond to make our holiday so incredible, from pickup to drop off at the airport the whole trip was just magic, we cannot thank Tanzania Horizon Safaris enough and will have no hesitation in using this company for future bookings. To the wonderful Tanzanian people who made us so welcome and always with a smile Asante Sana.

We had an absolutely amazing time touring Serengeti and Maasai Mara during the end of July.
Our tour guide Sabas was the best - he had so much professionalism and responsibility when driving us around the parks, explaining the characteristics and behaviours of the animals, and ensuring that we had a comfortable ride with all the water, soft drinks and charging on his car :D.
Although we didn't get to see the migration and the Black Rhino, Sabas never gave up to try to help us spot these things. He was so attentive to the radio which was so promising. Another thing about our amazing tour guide was that he was so willing to help others as well - if their cars were stuck / experienced difficulties, he was always willing to help. Luckily nothing happened to our jeep!
Last but not least, when we mentioned that we wanted to get some coffee from Tanzania, he also brought us to one of the shops on our way to Arusha airport. Definitely a guide who was able to fulfill all the different needs we had!
I guess the beauty of Tanzania Horizon Safaris is that the guide, and also the manager we were communicating with Elizabeth, are incredibly responsive. Little did I know, I would die to go on another safari trip again!

Tanzania Horizon safaris is clearly designed for the success and enjoyment of the hikers,We did the nine-day, Northern Circuit,The guides and the porters were nothing but amazing and full of wonders. unbelievable! You could ask the guides about everything and they knew whatever you wanted to know about flora or fauna and anything about the mountain! The daily health checks really made us feel more safe during our 9 days climb.The food was heavenly delicious and they made vegan and gluten free dishes which left me disappointed that I couldn’t eat more.Our entire party was able to summit and did it wonderfully.I highly recommend this company to anyone that is contemplating or planning to summit Mount Kilimanjaro.

Our group of 6 friends had an amazing time with Tanzania Horizon Safaris. We hiked Kilimanjaro via the 6 day Marangu Route and felt incredibly safe and well-equipped. Our guides Anton, Jonas and Mussa were fantastic and always kept us motivated. The rented gear was excellent, and the trek was both fun and challenging. Afterward, we went on a 6 day private safari to Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. We experienced a very tough hiking highlight as we also climbed Ol Doinyo Lengai near Lake Natron. The views from up there were phenomenal! The lodges were great, especially Lake Natron Camp, ThornTree Camp, and Kuhama Camp. Highly recommended!

My group of friends and I had a amazing time climbing Kilimanjaro thanks to Tanzania Horizon. The team did a great job from start to finish. After all details were made clear by email, Debora made all arrangements for us. From arrival to the hike via Northern Circuit Route we were treated extremely well and everything was arranged perfectly. The food on the mountain could not have been any better and were even provided with camping pillows. The views from the crater and the sunrise were just stunning! All 5 of us made it to the summit and had a great time Zanzibar after our hike where the company also arranged a boat trip for us. Thanks to our guides Anton and Colman and all wonderful people involved

Me and my two freinds went on a 5 das sfaari and booked very last minute, not even 6 days before but Elizabeth, Dorothee and Neema really organized everythig super quickly to turn out vaaction desatser into a beautiful memory. Some of the lodges were already fully booked but they found great alternatives and we were super happy. Thank you so much for your efforts! At the end we stayed at Manyara heritage lodge, Tloma lodge and Kati Kati camp in the Serengeti. We also visited Ngorongoro Crater and then continued to Zanibar. On our way back, we visited the giraffe center in Arusha. Everbody literally went above and beyond to organize our stay! I highly reocmmend this very organized team!

Hello Liz, thank you for your question; camping, bathroom facilities are shared with fellow travelers at the camp. Suggestions on things to bring : Binoculars, Camera, Sunglasses, hat and sunscreen, Sleeping bag, head torch and spare batteries, some snacks and cookies toilet paper or tissues, scarf warm, cloths for early morning game drives, small pillow travel quick-dry towel.

Private safari. we are 3,4 or 5 ( not sure yet) people. arr. Feb. 24th at 9:15 am /dep. March 1 at 3:20pm. we would like to start the trip strait from the airport with a little stop to bye provisions. we would prefer to camp or use tented camping. want to visit : Tarangine , manyara lake, serengeti and ngorongoro. can you give us a quote. also we have quite a few intolerances to food : gluten, egg, dairy and fish can you accomodate that? thank you.
