We (myself and three friends) had the privilege of summiting Kilimanjaro with Adam Ringo and the Ringo Expeditions team. In hindsight, selecting them as our guides was hands down the best decision we made on our trip.

Ringo operates a smaller operation than some of the other outfits you will see on the mountain. Make no mistake about it, this is to your advantage as a client. Think of this as being the small company experience (which comes with vastly superior customer service) relative to what you'd get with a big company.

Once you are the mountain it becomes clear quickly that not all guides are created equal. Particularly as you approach the summit, topics like paying personal attention to the individual condition of the climbers in your group, making go/no decisions based on weather, etc. separate the experts on the mountain from those newer to the guiding experience. The level of personal care and attention given to individual climbers--which should be your number one priority if you are planning a Kili trek--is unmatched with Ringo's group. Adam's best in class summiting track record is evidence of this fact.

We were lucky enough to find Adam through word of mouth from other friends of ours who had summited with him previously. We hope that this review helps keep that word of mouth going. If you want to climb Kili, Adam Ringo should be your first call.

PS: Adam is also well connected with a number of top notch safari guides who he works with for clients (like us) who want to do both. If you're planning to tack on a safari after the climb (highly recommended), talk to him about that too.

An incredible adventure along an amazing service my mother father sister and i have all made it to the top with the constant support of adam and his team they were always making sure we had everything we needed and more. Another thing was the food....👌do i have to say more ? Are cook was fantastic and the dishes were better on the mountain than in those 5 stars hotels and more important than everything we never got sick, so i hope you'll enjoy your ringo expedition and made it to the top.

Adam Ringo and his staff are well-seasoned professionals. When one decides to climb the tallest mountain in Africa, and one of the famed Seven Summits of the world, selecting a guide should not be taken lightly. The reason the entire group of us (10) reached the top was because of Adam's expertise and the backing of his team: they--from Adam to each of the porters--supported us 1,000% of the way.

Adam earned our respect due to the following: his expertise, his professionalism, and his ability to put together a well-coordinated support team. His expertise stems from him having been a porter himself when he first started to him having summitted Kili over 230 times; he definitely earned his PhD in the know-hows of Kili many times over and earned our respect. He was always professional during out trek (via the Lemosho Trail) and gave us options, especially when we got closer to summit day, on how far and how fast we wanted to push. With 10 of us climbers in the group, he put together a support team to ensure our safety (first and foremost) and well-being, which maximized the probability of success.

The only area of improvement is for Adam to have the ability to process all of our payments (for paying for his services to the park fees) electronically through him rather than for us to either bring hordes of cash or go to local banks individually in Moshi to withdraw cash.

Lastly, I salute the porters who strapped more than 20kgs of our stuff and all the support materials (e.g., tents, chairs, poles, cook wares, utensils, propane tanks, water, food, portable bathrooms, etc.) on their backs from Lemosho Gate (at 2,100 meters) to Barafu Camp (at 4,700 meters in elevation) and back. Our tents were always waiting for us upon our arrival at the next camp and everything was set up correctly. The chef was top notch: each meal was prepared exquisitely and that is hard to fathom especially when one is 16,000 feet up and knowing all the supplies (to include water) had to be carried by the porters.

If anyone is thinking of doing this awesome trek, please think about giving what you don't need (after the climb) to the porters. There was one porter who walked in loafers for he had nothing else to wear. Had I know beforehand, I would have brought another set of boots I had not worn to give to him. At the end of the trek, I gave my gloves, headlights, wool socks and down jackets to the porters; they needed them more than I did.

I believe I waited 3+ months to write this review is a testament to the positive impression Adam and his team left on me (and hopefully on the rest of my 9 other fellow trekkers) as we got to the top of one of the greatest adventures anyone could take. I wholeheartedly recommend Adam Ringo and his team!

When my group was planning our trip, Adam was recommended to us independently by multiple friends, and the trek ended up being exactly what we were looking for. The team was wonderful and very flexible - we felt spoiled by the great food and hot tea. Everything was laid-back but also extremely professional, and Adam did a great job of laying out options and adjusting our itinerary to ensure that everyone made it to the top. We had an amazing experience, culminating in a stunning summit with the top entirely to ourselves!

Six friends and I had an incredible trip up Mt. Kilimanjaro with Ringo Expeditions in January 2018. The guides were very friendly and helpful, the camps were comfortable and set up well, the food was delicious, and I'd happily recommend this company to others heading up the mountain.

Special things I appreciated about this outfit vs. what I saw 2nd hand in the other ones going up the mountain:
1) The group had a more "local" and "close" feel than many of the other services - there were only Tanzanians taking us up the mountain instead of big tour groups with foreign guides, and since we were a smaller group we had a much more communal experience than the groups of 50+ touring up the mountain.
2) Our pace was very easy-going, compared to a number of the other guide groups that seemed to be focused on leaving camp really early and getting quickly to the next campsite to rest. As a result, we were able to enjoy the trails more than I think we would have otherwise.
3) Ringo Expeditions apparently has a higher-than-normal success rate which we experienced 1st hand. This results likely from the good pace we took, as well as the significant experience of the outfit.

3 of us went on safari with Ringo Expeditions afterwards as well, which was an awesome experience too I'd recommend for similar reasons.

Guide since I met him was trying to convince me to change itinerary of the trip and make it different.

He came more one hour late to pick me up. Even after I had to sit in warehouse. Why he didn't pick me up when everything is ready? I could sleep longer and not wake up and still got delays.

Guide ate from my food box what I got first day muffin without asking.

Just before start of the trip one of the porter got sick. He didn't know before he jumped on the bus? There were no substitute for him so rest of the porters had to share his load. I won't mention that I paid for his tips already. At least he had spare at the end if the day two.

Shame I didn't have portable toilet even you have them in warehouse. Maybe it is for extra money so I should take it.

First day guide couldn't keep same pace. Up to the hill he was stopping every 5 min so I decided go by myself because it was really annoying. When he walked on plane surface he was going like slow fast slow fast... I expect it was because heavy backpack,  but I don't want to be affected by bad logistics.

Guide even first day tried to convince me go to shira camp 2 and do extra rest day in Barranco Camp.

Guide had no clue about trip itinerary and I had to show him printout of the itinerary. I'm client I'm not here to tell my guide what to do.
special but for me it is one life experience.

When we arrived to any camp. He walked away and I had to ask other people if they can take pictures of me. If we were passing sigh he more cared to take pictures of himself or together then myself. On summit day I got pissed off because he stood by post while I was recording my gopro. And he said we must be quick because other groups ar coming. And I shouted "This is my trip and my memories not yours so you should take care about pictures of me and not you." And when there will be any time left we can do pictures together. He even don't care to take the best shots.

Night before summit guide asked me if he should  take oxygen. Why he consult such a think with customers? I know I was in good condition, but risk customer health over own comfort?  Anything can happen and who will take responsibility?

Why do I sleep in different hotel than is on itinerary?

Borrow money to run a trip isn't much professional. And specially he didn't return them back so he still own me $1400

We had an unbelievable experience hiking Kilimanjaro with Adam Ringo in December, and his team got all four of us to the summit. He came highly recommended by friends, and after our trip, choosing Ringo is the way to go.

> Unrivaled Experience: Our trek was Adam’s 235th time climbing Kilimanjaro. 235 trips x 7 days is well over Malcom Gladwell’s 10,000 hour rule!
> High Success Rate: By his account, he has a >95% success rate. His insistence on pole pole, carrying oxygen tanks (I’m grateful they had it for summit day), and a bumping playlist;
> Great Food: Talented chef making dishes ranging from pasta to fried rice… much better than you would expect for a week-long climb;
> Stellar Team: Team of 17 guides and porters for our group of four… knowledgeable and friendly, and they’re all from the Moshi area so you know you’re giving back to the local economy;
> Good Gear: Besides the Bluetooth speakers and oxygen tanks, one of the porters carried a portable toilet which is key, since the public toilets at camp are foul

Thank you Adam for a once in a lifetime trip! Waiting for you to visit us in NYC.

I traveled with a group of 10 people with varying levels of age, fitness and experience. We all had some degree of apprehension regarding the ability to be successful and enjoyable. Ringo expeditions did everything to maximize both. They are an extremely professional and knowledgable outfit. We were given excellent time to acclimate properly to maximize success (we all made it to the top). Along the way, they make every effort to make the trip enjoyable. The food was excellent (a chef was part of the porter group). The positive attitude and small creature comforts along the way also made for a memorable trip. I highly recommend this group with its personalized and professional service.

Ringo Expeditions is an excellent and affordable choice for reaching Kilimanjaro's summit. Led by Adam Ringo, the company prioritizes its customers' needs and success by being flexible, attentive, and wise. Adam brings to bear several decades of experience on the mountain and he employs a great team to help his clients throughout the trek. Ringo Expeditions came highly recommend and I second that recommendation. You'll have a great experience.
