Beautiful waterfalls!
Oct 2021
We loved our trip to the Materuni waterfalls on the day before our climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was the perfect primer for the climb and a beautiful day experiencing the Kilimanjaro region.

Incredible waterfall you can imagine!
Nov 2021 • Friends
Just coming back from our group tour to this beautifuly waterfall. With no hesitation I can recomend anyone to include the visit to Materuni waterfall in his/her bucket-list as it is a beautifuly place which can be accessed from both moshi and Arusha City.

I have never been at Materuni before - just hearing from my friends about how beautifily the place is!
then we organised ourselves as a group with our directors to have a visit just to experience the waterfall and the sourounding. What I can say is everyone in a group was flattered by the great experience that was nourished by our two local guide.

Everything was well organised !. Our guides come to pick us from Moshi town "about 45minutes" and start briefing us on what to expect and how we should walk just to makesure everyone reach to the destination and we have all necessary information possible for successfully tour.

Arriving at the village we cleared registration process and start our walking toward the waterfall while we are amazed by beautifully scenery and stories of the lifestyle of local people around the village from our guide. "you should expect the up&down trail"

The waterfall start to be seen from the distance and once arrived, we put off our shoes and dip our legs in a very cold water while the blowing moisture come to our side. It is a very nice place for meditation, swimming and refreshment.

We will come back as the place don't dissapoint.

Amazing falls, bad tour guide experience
Aug 2021 • Family
Beware of a guide called "Rasi". When me and my brother arrived to the ticket office by taxi from Moshi (15,000 TZS roundtrip), he was waiting for us there and welcomed us saying that he was going to be our tour guide. He had given us guidelines for the prices (10 dollars entry and 10,000 TZS/hour guiding fee). We wanted to pay for the tickets there, but he said no, let's go, we would discuss that later. As it was 2:40pm and the tour would last at least 1 hour 30 minutes, he should have known we wouldn't make it back before the office closed at 4:00pm.

On the way back, he said we could pay him directly, because the office was closed. We asked for a receipt/ticket which he could not offer. I had seen on a blog from 2019 that entry for tourists was 10,000 TZS, he said no, it was 10 dollars (23,000 TZS). I asked for a proof but he was adamant and he said we went along on the trip so we agreed on any prices (which was not true because he encouraged us to just leave the office behind because we would "discuss" everything after the trip). I did not have that much cash with me, so we agreed we would meet in town at an ATM.

Down at the ATM I showed him the blog again about the 10,000 TZS entry, he would not let go of the 10 dollars/person idea but couldn't back it up either. I thought alright, it's not the end of the world, I'll pay him and it will rest on his conscience. Regarding his guiding fees... he said 10,000TZS/hour and asked for 20,000 for the one and a half hours. I said I thought we'd pay him 10,000 (based on the blog), but I would meet him halfway at 15,000 + if we followed his hourly rates, that would make sense too. He started getting really aggressive at that point and saying that 15,000 was per person (I was with my brother) and let's give him 20,000 instead of the "total" of 30,000 and that would be fine. I was firm about giving him 15,000, then he said he wouldn't "do anything bad" to us this time (???) so just hand over the money and that's it. When I gave him the money he turned around and walked away without saying thank you or good-bye.

Missing values: openness, honesty, integrity, politeness

Warning for tourists
Aug 2021 • Family
This review is warning for all tourists who want to see Materuni Waterfalls. Me and my family were cheated and our money was stolen in the village called Mruwia. A guy (Mbango Marick) who introduced himself as an official working for Tanzanian government took us to his pseudo office and sold false permission to see the waterfall. He insisted on paying more money for a "registered" guide who brought us to the village. After 30 minute climb we were stopped by another guy who wanted more money and claimed to be registered guide working for government. When we refused to pay more he started to threaten us and because we were with children we decided to come back to the village. We called the police and after 5 hours got our money back. The police confirmed that we were victims of a gang cheating people in Mruwia. They are not registered guides. It was a bitter lesson for us because Tanzania is such a great country for travelling and had never experienced any kind of fraud during our monthly trip. I hope that by the time you read this message those cheaters are stopped from emptying tourists wallets and ruining good reputation of Tanzanian tourism. We now know that official office where you buy tickets is located in Materuni. A single ticket is 10.000 TS and a fee guide is approximately the same. There are photos of people involved in this cheating procedure as well as of the house which serves as an "office"

Don't miss this!
Jul 2021
A not so quick but beautiful 2 mile hike each way, to a breath-taking waterfall. Moderate trail due to mud from some rain and lot of hills, but a great hike. My kids loved it and were able to keep up even though they are not avid hikers like myself. They struggled with the uphill but again they didn't climb Kili like I did! haha
I think anyone can do this hike. IT's absolutely worth it and lovely. Not a lot of bugs. Lots of vegetation and friendly villagers along the way. Our guide was great and comforting, safe, and educational. The coffee tour after the hike was great. My kids enjoyed singing and making coffee and I enjoyed watching and drinking the coffee. What a treat!

Materuni Falls and Cultural Tour
Aug 2021 • Friends
This is my 3rd visit to Tanzania but first time visiting this amazing place. Booked it with G2G Adventures and Amani was our fabulous guide. The hike to the waterfalls was beautiful. It surpassed my expectations and loved all the sights along the way. It rained on us but it was still worth it to reach the waterfalls. My friends took a swim in the water even! The coffee experience at the end and seeing how coffee is made was spectacular. And the lunch they prepared for us was so delicious! Can’t say enough of this place and G2G Adventures and Amani. I will definitely come back to visit.

Beautiful Village
Jun 2021
My family and I had a wonderful experience in this village. The environment is very beautiful and people are very friendly. We had a coffee tour with our guide, Moses and it was simply incredible. We had time to learn how coffee is cultivated, harvested and how to make a delicious cup of coffee.

We also went to the Materuni falls. The trails to the falls are very scenic. We were lucky enough to get amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro. On this day we ate a chagga traditional lunch and tasted a chagga brew. We had beautiful moments in this chagga village. I totally recommend you to visit if you have a day or two in Moshi.

Good hike to try with your young kids
Aug 2021 • Family
Its a nice little waterfall hiding on the slpoes of mount Kilimanjaro. There is a 30 min hike from the village of materuni. You need to take a guide from the village to help the village community. Also there is an entry fee of 10000 Tanzanian shilling for adults and 5000 for the child. The road to the village is good condition for dry season. Therer is a coffe plant in the village and travelers can see the process of coffee making.
