    Amazing!!
First time ever swimming under waterfall - brilliant sensation. This place is well worth the visit Book it through your base hotel- getting a transfera d they can also arrange a local guide Enchassi brought us on the 30 minute walk and then accompanied us to a local Chaga coffee plantation for an additional tour. This is as an authentic Tanzanian experience as you will get Highly recommended.

    Book with Bonivenche!
Highly recommend booking with Bonivenche!! +255629748310. Instagram: boniventurak_kilimanjaro. Boni led me to the waterfalls, then to a beautiful lookout for a local lunch, followed by demonstrating how to make the perfect cup of coffee. Boni had a great sense of humor, was fun and extremely knowledgeable ! As a bonus- he is also a fantastic photographer! Perfect for solo travelers wanting some great pictures. I left Tanzania with a new rafiki (friend). Highly recommend! Thanks Bonivenche!

Cure Jet lag — visit the falls
Awesome waterfalls – – definitely worth the visit. I would suggest doing this trip the day after you arrive and before you start your safari. A great way to cure Jetlag the scenery is awesome and the waterfall is worth a visit – – definitely take your swimsuit so you can go for a swim. There are vendors along the way that sell drinks as well as various pieces of art and reasonably priced try and organize a Coffee tour as well – – also worth the time

Gorgeous waterfall at the end of a forest hike
Gorgeous waterfall at the end of a forest hike. The hike is about an hour each way on old dirt roads leading to forest trails. Lots of birds and chameleons. A great stop and leg-stretcher.

    Great waterfall. Worth visiting
It's almost an hour drive from Moshi and about an hour hike thereafter. The waterfall definitely worth a visit. I have visited many waterfalls in different parts of the world. This is a great water fall. An underrated one!!! Even the hike in itself is beautiful. One is walking through lush farmlands. The coffee tour which most tour companies attach with this is underwhelming

I have been traveling in Tanzania for 3 weeks but this was definitely the worst experience. We travelled with Dala Dala and already one stop before the Materuni village a guy hopped in and explained that we need to pay for a guide and entrance fee to the falls. We got out of the car and we weren’t sure if we want to go to the waterfalls or just do the coffee experience so we wanted to walk around the village and decide. 2 people started to follow us and said that we cannot even walk in the village unless we paid the official entrance fee. We have opened our book guide and wanted to read about the area - we were just standing there. The two guys insisted that we need to pay them. They started to be aggressive and even screaming at us. We gave up and went with them to the official office which was only a table with one guest book. Nowhere was written anything about the fees or rules. We wanted to see some official badge or document from them but they were not able to provide anything. We decided to leave the village and about 10 men were screaming at us that we should go back to our country. I even think that the “official office” is not set up by the government but by a group of village individuals themselves to rip off tourists. The waterfalls might be beautiful but the hustle before is not worth it.

We did a tour of the waterfall/coffee tour and adjacent village with our safari tour company Popote for 65 USD (pickup from Moshi and back).

The waterfall is a nice walk and gives the opportunity of a lovely shower. The walk is gentle and lasts 45 minutes one way.

The coffee tour disappoints. After doing a similar one in Colombia, I noticed the level of explanation provided is very very basic and often partial/erroneous.

After the coffee tour, expect to be pressured to buy overpriced items (banana postcards for 5 USD whereas yoi can find them for 2 USD elsewhere, coffee more expensive than in Moshi town).

Unfortunately, this experience is definitely a tourist trap. Comments are robotics, local guides just wait for tips and get USD from foreigners...

Well worth the visit if you have a spare day in Moshi. Beautiful location, the water is very cold and deep so do not go in if you cannot swim. It's dangerous and I have heard some sad stories of people who enter who cannot swim. The guides can be a bit money grabbing at the "entrance" so be prepared to haggle. Regardless, it's still great to go and I will be taking friends there in the future.

Thank you for an amazing day. We spent a beautiful time with a very knowledgeable guide providing us with all interesting information about their tribe and their habits. We finished our tour with typical local meals and homemade coffee. Preparing coffee was very entertaining;-)

We came with Hans (his whats app is +255 756 398 100) who was a very good driver and guide.
We loved the waterfall a LOT!! The lunch was great. The coffee tour was ok but maybe a bit too touristy for our taste.

Beautiful spot and well worth the visit! The hike through the hills was full of outstanding views and a rewarding finish at the waterfalls. Went for a chilly swim (a must) and enjoyed a picnic at the falls. The hike takes about 30-40 mins and is moderately easy (some hills, need to be in decent physical shape). A guide is required and I would highly recommend our guide Hans for anyone looking to visit. He lives in Moshi and you can reach him at +255 756 398 100 (he takes great pictures too!).

We went to the waterfall with Nyanda Safaris who provided us with a local guide "Emmanuel" and a driver. First we were not impressed with condition of the car. The tour manager promptly switching to a better car. Afetr that every thing went smoothly and great fun. It took us about 2 hours to hike to the waterfall. The path was quite slippery due to drizzles which common in Dec-Jan. The waterfall itself is OK (we are from Thailand, so waterfalls is a common sight). We used this hike to adjust ourself to the local climate and conditions. However, the coffee planation and making is very interesting. We learn a bit about coffee and local cultures associatie with it. All in all, a good and interesting day out for us. BTW, the waterfall pool does not have a clearing or space for a picnic or toilets or clothes changing. Be prepared.

Fantastic trip to the very beautiful water fall.
The coffee experience is both fun and much interesting.

We used Driver Hans for our trip to Materuni waterfall and a visit to the coffee village.
Hans arranged everything just perfect.

Arrived on time, and was a very good driver.

If you need any small or longer trips in Moshi, we can highly recommend Hans.
