Right from the moment I made contact with Altezza , I was provided with all the inputs and guidance I needed to plan my trip in a remarkably responsive way, including helping me choose the most appropriate route for my age group - 62+ (thank you Mila). On arrival at Moshi, I soon discovered that everything about Altezza is highly and thoughtfully organized, including the chance to rent from Altezza the needed apparel and equipment that you may don’t have with you (thank you Tony) . And the actual climb to the Roof of Africa by the 7 day Lemosho Route was made so thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding thanks to exceptional leadership of the Trip Leader, Guide Victor and his vast crew of well trained staff, porters, chefs, and guides. Every single of my personal needs were taken care of by this great crew, including lending a helping hand on the summit day (thank you Ali). I highly recommend Altezza to anyone who is seriously considering doing this great adventure of a life time!

This was the most amazing trip/adventure I think anyone can do. Pushed both physically and mentally, with some of the most picturesque land scapes in the world. Our guides Raga and Elia made sure we were prepared and ready to make each days trek. With that being said we went with the premium package that without a doubt would blow your mind even at sea level. The quality and service provided at every step was next level. Starting each day with hot meals, hot water to wash up and the daily itinerary. The camp crew and all porters were exceptional!! From the toilet attendants, waiters, to camp set up. No service was spared, we had our boots dusted off once arriving to the next camp and our tents, cotes, sleeping bags, dining tables and chairs all ready to relax and enjoy after a long day of hiking. Ever meal was delicious, Albert the head chef worked magic in his mess tent (pic below). The list would be far to long to go through all the hospitality offered. However I have to mention some names Elias, Baltazary, Jackson, Emmanuel and of course Raga and Elia our main guides for our summit night experience, they kept us going and was always there to make sure we were safe. Without a doubt this will be an experience I will remember for ever!!!

I highly recommend Altezza Travel and would definitely if you wanna be in good hands suggest Elia and Raga as your experienced guides to get you to the top.

We booked the 7 day Lemosho route with a 5 day Safari after the hike. Altezza was fantastic in every way. When we arrived our entire group's baggage was lost. Altezza rented our missing gear at no cost and took care of getting our baggage once it finally arrived. On the mountain, the guides were highly professional and very experienced. It seemed like our lead guide, Abraham, knew and was friendly with all the other guides on the mountain - probably doesn't hurt he has led over 350 groups in his career. The other guides (Tumaini, Beltram, and Eric) were also great at keeping spirits up and the group moving along (pole pole). They had medication if needed, and nobody went anywhere close to hungry on the trip (there was a daily mid hike tea). We had rain and the guides and porters dried everything out. We really couldn't have asked for a better crew to help us up the mountain. For the safari, our driver Yasin had over 10 years experience guiding. He was friendly and regularly able to spot animals from a distance that made all of us wonder how he saw them - it was like a magic trick. We always felt safe with him driving, and seeing the Big 5 was a highlight of the trip. While I have only done the one trip with Altezza I would book with them again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to go on a safari or hike Kilimanjaro. More water - more fire!

I organized a 6 day Safari for mid July 2021 for my mother, brother and I using Altezza Travel. Our experience working with Altezza was incredibly wonderful and the Safari trip was a memory we will never forget. Julia from Altezza did a wonderful job helping me with the plans and was a great help during the trip to ensure our itinerary was completed according to our wishes and we were returned safely to the airport for departure. Our guides, Tum and Sammy, were both incredibly kind and amazing human beings who worked hard to make our trip so enjoyable. They took amazing care of my family members and I. We went to Lake Natron Camp, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, Serengeti National Park, and Makoa Farm. Every location was unique and amazing to experience. We saw the entire big 5 of East African animals and many, many additional animal and bird species. Safety was always ensured and our COVID19 testing arrangements went according to plans. I am recommending to all my friends, family, and acquaintances to use Altezza Travel if they have any wish to do explore beautiful Tanzania. I would absolutely recommend the same to anyone considering Altezza Travel. This experience was the best travel decision I have made yet. Thank you so much Altezza Travel.

My wife and I summited Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route in August, 2021. Altezza Travel did an excellent job organizing and we avoided altitude sickness and other common problems.

For me the height of the trip was launching in my paraglider from the summit and flying all the way back to Moshi. Altezza assisted in providing wind and weather forecasts and obtaining official aviation clearance for the flight down.

I highly recommend Altezza Travel for experienced pilots who are able to assess conditions, make flight decisions, and perform unassisted launches at high altitude. They provided all the support needed for my dream flight off of Kili!

I can’t recommend Altezza travel enough. From the moment you arrive at the airport until the moment you leave, they take incredible care of you. I had a lot of nerves leading up to my climb of Kilimanjaro through the Lemosho route, but our guide Victor and his team of Jackson, David, Richard and great porters made our experience incredible. Each day is challenging, but during a nightly briefing they tell you what to expect for the following day. Keeping the focus on one day at a time really allow you to break climbing one of the 7 Summits into less intimidating chunks.

Something everyone asks about is the food and everyone in the group said they were so stuffed from our 3 big meals each day, along with tea and snacks. They even packed us little snack packs for summit night! A typical breakfast was porridge, eggs, pancakes, toast, fresh fruit and sausage. Lunch was usually soup, a fresh green vegetable, fruit, starch (rice, potatoes or pasta), and a meat or veggie sauce. Dinner was same as lunch. We had Nutella, peanut butter, teas, instant coffee and jams for our use at all meals. While I am not a vegetarian, there were two girls who were and their meals were always a bit different than ours but really good.

The best decision we made was hiring a toilet ($250), which made a huge difference. Maybe ask if you can split one with someone in the group if you’re solo so you can get the price down. The toilets at camp may not be nearby and are extremely gross.

Altezza did medical checks twice a day and I know that the guides kept a close eye and gave extra attention to make sure anyone not doing well. We had members of our team who got colds and they made ginger lemon tea from scratch for them. During summit night you are 1 to 1 with a guide (there are extra for the summit) and they do so much to encourage you, such as singing to raise our spirits when the climb got really tough around 5am. I had Ernest helping me and his smile and encouragement helped boost my spirits when it was cold and dark.

My entire group of 10 made the summit. While we were all pretty fit and trained, it is a grueling climb and we all said after that we couldn’t have done it without the care and support of Victor, the guides, and the Altezza team. I will recommend them to everyone I know who mentions climbing Kili and would climb again with them because I know how well they care for us all.

Trekking with Altezza was an awesome experience. As non-experienced hikers, the guides (Joel, hamza, Joshua, Beltram and Emmanuel) made sure that every member of our group was safe and also made it to the top. If you do the route with stand up tents, I might recommend those as the worst part of the day as a large inflexible male was getting in and out of the tents and trying to pack up in limited space. Otherwise I cannot recommend Altezza enough. Clean (at least as clean as you can be while camping for a week), organized, helpful every step of the way. The summit porters to carry your packs the last day we’re very helpful and the guides were always quick to take your bag or carry your extra water if needed. We are now going to be using them for Safari and we couldn’t be more excited!

We booked our 3-day trip to the summit of Mount Meru with Altezza Travel and were very pleased with the overall experience. From the initial contact in search of a qualified company to the fantastic effort of Joseph and his team (Richard, William, etc.) throughout the trip, it was all arranged in great detail and with much care. There was not a single moment in which we as travelers came short during the trip.

However, we were quite dissapointed that due to certain circumstances our travel itinerary was adjusted on the last day and we weren't able to walk back through the wildlife with the park ranger (which was one of the reasons we choose this trip) and instead had to drive back. It seemed like this occurred more often and could be handled or communicated differently.

Hey Dean, Thanks for the time you spent writing this review. We are delighted to learn that you’ve enjoyed your experience with us. It is very reassuring - knowing that we are on the right track is very important for our team. Altezza Travel always strives to ensure that our adventures are exactly what we are advertising them to be, and your and other travellers’ contributions are essential to that. And we are particularly thankful for speaking out about the problem you experienced in the final part of your adventure. Indeed, curtailing the trail and taking a ride instead of walking through tropical forest is certainly something you didn’t expect. We are sorry for that. Not as an excuse, but rather as an explanation for the reasons why that happened, we need to tell you that the situation was entirely out of our hands. To begin with, such situations have never happened on our trekking tours. As soon as we noticed your review, we immediately contacted the park administration and inquired about the reasons. The park representative informed us that their ranger team was understaffed, and they had only one ranger available at that time. Thus, he had to both lead your group, and tend to the other group (non-related to Altezza), who had a 4-day Meru trip and had to stay a day longer on the mountain. The ranger said that he couldn’t leave them at the camp alone and that your group had to take a ride. As a tour operator, we were outraged at this - the park fees that we have paid for you explicitly included the ‘ranging fee’, meaning that you were supposed to have a private ranger for the whole duration of your adventure on Mt Meru. The park’s administration, however, had another opinion on that. We have raised the issue with the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators, where we’ve learned that several situations of similar nature happened to the clients of other travel companies over the past few months. Our company is now escalating the problem to the Ministry of Tourism and Natural Resources. We firmly believe that staffing problems shouldn’t be causing frustration to travellers, especially in the light of the fact that the national park entry fees in Tanzania are among the highest across the continent. Once again - thanks for your signal. Be assured that it has triggered the expected action. Your review will help us to make our Meru adventures better for future climbers.

Altezza really created an incredible experience for me and my two friends I dragged with me to adventure Kilimanjaro. From the wonderful hotel they place you in during the bookends of the climb, to summiting the roof of Africa and all small touches in between (tea in the mornings & hot water bottles are night), Altezza helped create a wonderful experience for us on the mountain. Our guides Rama, Albert, and Gerald took their time to really understand how we were feeling, chat, and make jokes. The lodging was overall incredible - I have never camped in such nice conditions. The tent and hot meals or snacks would be waiting for us every day when we got to the next campsite. Thank you Altezza for making this experience one to remember for our group :)

What an incredible experience, can’t thank the Altezza team enough for getting our group to the top of Kilimanjaro. Nothing was ever to much or to hard,. The team all kept on telling us we are all here to support you to achieve your goal of getting to the summit. From the start of booking, thanks Angelina to our team up the mountain lead by our mountain guides Rashid and Frank. Our guides knowledge of the mountain it’s history, wildlife and vegetation, there was not a question they could not answer. We saw monkeys, different birds and flowers endemic to Kilimanjaro. Our amazing chef Alpha, he prepared 3 course meals for us (yes 3 courses) of very tasty food all the way to our basecamp. Filo or second to none waiter, always there with a cup of hot tea in the morning and after arrival at the next camp ensuring we had enough water for the day. Filo was so encouraging and insistent that we would eat, as altitude started to decrease our appetite Filo would not let us get away without eating our food. You need to eat go keep your strength, and how right was he we needed every bit of that strength. Our always helpful and happy camp master Juma, always there with a smile and a welcome when we reached our camp each afternoon and to help with our gear. All the porters in our team, you are our heroes. Getting all food, gear, water etc up the mountain, and having our tents up snd ready for us to fall into. Special thanks to our porters and summit supporters Emanuel and Deo. Summit day, we started for the summit at midnight after a very hearty breakfast/dinner. Once again the weather was on our side, clear skies a very nearly full moon and a sky full of stars. It was hard so so hard, our amazing summit crew guides Rashid and Frank and porters Emanuel and Deo, sang for us there was chanting, words of encouragement stops for water sips. Honestly I would not have made it without them and their positive support. Not to forget they carried our daypacks for us, didn’t that make a difference. From the bottom of my heart thank you 🙏 Climbing Kilimanjaro was the hardest thing I have ever done, but the most amazing experience. Such an emotional journey, there was times when I thought I can’t do this but with all the encouragement you put one foot in front of the other and breathe just breathe. I was trying so very hard to hold back tears when we reached the summit, we made it!!! On the way down as we got close to our Basecamp dome of the other porters came up to great us all and took over the daypack to carry down the last bit to camp, again what a team spirit. One team one dream, our group of 4 ranging from 53 to 68 Years of age all made it to the summit thanks to the wonderful support from our climbing crew.
Asante
