Good walk on a clear day up to the lighthouse. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Walk up to the cave and read about the history of the first cave dwellers and then walk up to the lighthouse. Stunning views of the city and the ocean. Worth the effort.

We didn't make it up to the lighthouse due to the bad weather but we've been amazed by the funny creatures that hang in the rocks at the parking lot!

Navigation around these often treacherous waters has been facilitated by the building of the lighthouse in 1864. Well sited on the Point and commanding excellent views both east and west, this lighthouse is open to the public, with visiting hours normally between 10 am and 3 pm. It might be wise to phone in advance, especially if you want to see the view from the top of the tower. Its quite a steep climb to the lighthouse and there is no way you can gain entry if the gate's locked. Effective perimeter security is in place. Well worth a visit though!
