I rode the Congo Nile from Gisenyi to Karongi in January of 2021 with Rwandan Adventures. It was a well organized tour and a great opportunity to cycle one of the most scenic routes in Rwanda. My guide was very knowledgeable of the culture, surroundings and the trail itself. Also, there was constant communication with Leandre before/during the ride to ensure the best trip possible. I highly recommend Rwandan Adventures for this itinerary or other adventures!

Leandre is a great guide, very knowledgeable, gave lots of great advice and even connected me with a local cycle group. Thank you 👍. The route is beautiful and it is great to see rural Kigali on 2 wheels. Due to my experience and fitness level I could have done with a break and stop for lunch earlier. And in hindsight should have asked for more details of the route. I would definitely book another tour with Leandre and Rwandan adventures again.

Some superb views on the trail, and Leandre and Leon were great company as well as knowledgeable. The ebikes were pricey but fantastic bits of kit, and made the experience altogether more relaxing and enjoyable, although still leaving me with the feeling each day that I had definitely done some exercise (I’m 58 so felt I deserved one). If I had taken an ordinary bike the ride would have taken me twice as long and would have left me feeling completely wiped out each day. The hills are steep and the road very stony in places. We went north to south, and because I had a car we missed out the long climb from Rubengera on the tarmac and started at Bumba Camp instead. A bit of a cheat but I had driven the road the day before and didn’t need to witness it from a bicycle. Anyway, it was fun doing the whole cycle off road away from cars. The stay at Kinunu Coffee station was very chilled. The best coffee I’ve had, and food was good wholesome local fare. I’ve lived on a coffee farm but still found the Coffee tour really interesting. Eric the guide and barman is a knowledgeable and very nice guy. The value of having Leandre to guide was exemplified when I left my phone at the guest house by mistake and we’d done 4 or 5km downhill the next morning before I realised that I didn’t have it with me. He called Eric and he found it and sent it to me via a motorbike taxi. Very kind of all concerned. An unexpected luxury was having a shower at Rwandan Adventure’s house which they use as a base in Rubavu, before driving back to Kigali. As I said earlier - Leandre and Leon are great company, the views were lovely, and just being away from cars for a couple of days under my own steam (almost!) made for a great couple of days. The only touch of reality is that the cost may put off some people I think. But if it’s a one-off, then go for it!

Hello Duncan! We really appreciate the in-depth feedback and business during the recovery period of tourism in Rwanda! Glad you enjoyed the use of the ebikes and how that can help even those that are little bit older (even if age is but a number!) to tackle and accomplish the hills of Rwanda! It is encouraging to know that our guides are so helpful. We hope to see you return once again in the future! Happy travels and hope you stay safe during these troubling and uncertain times. Regards, Ottavio

Really enjoyed my day out with Leandre, who was very knowledgeable and an excellent companion for my day in the saddle. Gives you a glimpse of the real Rwanda. You need to be pretty fit!

We enjoyed an amazing fortnight with Rwandan Adventures who organised our entire visit around this amazing country. During our trip we enjoyed seeing the abundance of wildlife - the gorillas a highlight naturally! - stunning mountainous scenery and even went on a couple of e-bike tours that took us along dirt roads, past tiny villages and beautiful lake vistas. Our guides were always informative and our driver Patience made the trip even more memorable with his reliability, humour and knowledge.
