It's been 10 years since our visit there & given the recent unrest one would need to check on personal safety issues before planning a trip there! But--assuming safety/stability in the region it's an incredibly exciting & beautiful region. The cliffs themselves are extraordinarily dramatic--and contain...More

Rent a guide with a motorbike from Mopti and spend 2 days out here. You can do it in one day but it would be a lot of riding. Learn about The theory of Dogon Creation while seeing this beautiful part of the country.

You need to add this to your bucket list. It is an oasis in a desert having an exotic, almost fantasy aura. Seeing the sacred crocs and feeding them is something you will never forget. Get there before the US tourists turn it into Wally*World.

This is a fantastic place. There is felt the presence of civilization, as old as Egypt. There are living lovely people with a great sense of dignity.

Just happened to be there for New Years Eve 2014 and the whole village turned out to dance the night away. People came from the surrounding villages and this didn't seem like something staged for tourists but a local celebration. It felt like we were...More
