Impala Sanctuary is by the lake and a nice place to see wild animal (lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, ostrich, warhog, impala, giraffe) in captivity. You can also take a boat-ride on the lake and have a picnic in one of the many sites in the sanctuary.

We went there with our kid who is 11 years old, and a family member from Kenya. First of all you need to bring a passport along so the park attendance can see if you are going to pay 250 KES (Kenyan citizen) or you are going to pay 2250 KES per.person (foreign visitor). We just laughed and turned back.... More

We were disappointed with our visit. The name is rather misleading as I would call this a Zoo and it's rather reminiscent of zoos in the 70's. As a place by the lake shore, it's quite nice, but walking past the animal enclosures is depressing. The enclosures are a series of cages on a barren hill top in scorching sun.... More

Visited here a while back and would not hesitate to recommend it for anyone wishing some peace and quiet in clean and beautiful surroundings. Very well kept, and borders the lake. There is a fancy restaurant within the sanctuary that is very nice. Great place for visitors to Kisumu on business travel to take some time out .

I had alifetime experience touring Kisumu Impala Park. Saw various wild animals I only saw in the books, the tour guide was friendly. I one day will be back there. Guys if one day you get the chance to be in Kenya, let Kisumu Impala Park be in your schedule.

First of all, it for non-Kenyan's, it is apparently US$ 25 to get in (2500 KS). This is really a small zoo next to Lake Victoria. THe caged animals look to have very small cages (likely not appropriate space for the animals by zoo standards given having seen many zoos in many countries). Informal guides seem to be scattered around... More
