Our visit to Tonga was a wonderful experience. A step back in time, where the pace of life is as it were in the western world a century ago ! After visiting the Royal Palace erected in 1867 and built in wood and still standing, our trip ventured to the spot where Captain Cook landed in 1777 and then onto an idyllic unpopulated beach where we were entertained with local song and dance in a magical cave - what a delightful day. The Pacific Islands are well worth a visit.

Denis is a 25+ year veteran in offering tours and it shows. His professionalism, knowledge and balance at providing a memorable tour made our holiday. The experience is one that will stay with us for a long time. He timed the tour so we were able to visit each location on our own, without being crowded out by other tours, and his son was able to guide us in the water to see some of the most impeccable reef's & caves. Finally he returned us to their own privately leased island for a home cooked lunch, stunning view and the perfect conclusion to the day. Thank you Denis, Donna & Tyler - exceptional!

We were not expected to go to Tonga but a cyclone off Fiji meant we could not visit there so Tonga became new port - friendly people - interesting to note China spending on infrastructure - went on a tour around island and got a good price. Tour guide lady was lovely - blow holes by sea worth seeing. Very basic set up in town but could get wi fi at cafe.

Sailing with Denis Belvedere on the HM Salote was the highpoint the 2016 Beaver State 21 Day South Pacific tour. Our group of four couples from Oregon were lucky enough to sail away a beautiful Tonga day on the one of a kind HM Salote with her interesting and skilled crew headed by the Captain Denis. Everything about our day on the water was perfect. The Salote under full sail, beautiful weather, awesome snorkeling, and the beauty and serenity of the numerous little island and bays only to be topped off with an excellent three course lunch prepared onboard. The crowning jewel of the perfect day was Denis our captain, tour guide, historian, chef and now friend. In listing to Denis talking about his life on the sea and his many adventures I felt like I was spending time with Hemingway. So much in fact I told him should write a book. He informed me that he had written three. Someday we hope to go back to Nieafu Tonga so my friends and I can spend another wonderful day enjoying the HM Salote and her crew. Tonga Island Tours is a first class operation that will always be at the top of my list of things to remember about the 2016 Beaver State Tour. Thank you Denis and Donna.
