Small But Wonderful
Nov 2019
This was a small market but, there were not only fresh fruits & vegetables but, local home made crafts. There were wood carvings of all descriptions and several booths had the handmade jewelry. All very well done.

Small market
Aug 2019
Small market with a limited selection of fruit and veg. Also some handicrafts, pearls etc. Not bad for Tonga but smaller than in Tongatapu.

Good organic vegies
Jul 2018 • Family
This ia the go-to place for fresh organic vegetables. They don't have a whole lot of variety to choose from but it will do for an island style meal.

"Buy a Tongan Fan and save your life"
Feb 2018
This is what was said to me by one of the merchants here, and boy he was not wrong. That fan was a life saver during the trip! Get one! You'll thank me!

Very Interesting!!
Dec 2017 • Couples
Local crafts with some jewelry. Some fruits and vegs but we can not buy them and take on the ship. Not a whole lot to do on this island but we had a nice walk. Overall a good time.

Small local market and limited
Aug 2017 • Family
Small fruit and vege market most of the time. Other section sees locals sell small souvenirs like necklaces, woven goods and carvings. It was quite funny to see this humble market turn into a show and sell a bunch of "touristy" stuff when the P&O ship came to town for the day.

The market
Aug 2017 • Friends
Very small market with some good carved and bone jewellery. Not the place for souvenir clothing adit is imported from either India or China. Very pleasant smallholders and some good musical entertainment mainly from a brass band (apparently from the local boys high school.
Then a five minute walk to the quaint town.

A cool place to see and find handmade items
Jun 2017 • Friends
This is a neat little market used by locals and tourists. There's lots of produce in the outer area and some of it is really interesting like big taro roots and fruits that I've never seen before. I bought a pineapple and some guava and watermelon to eat for breakfast one morning and all of it was sweet and juicy and so good. I also shopped the handicraft area and there are some nicely carved necklaces, baskets, tapestries, shells, and other items. There were whale and cow bone carvings and some of the baskets were beautiful. I bought a basket that is beautifully woven with both dark and light material. The woman who sold it to me was kind and wanted to give me shells as well. They do give a bit of a sob story but aren't too pushy. This is a nice place to explore.
