An amazing journey! It's been three days crossing the desert. An unforgettable experience! Especially the guide Franz who was a love with all of us. Always very patient, asking, careful and always looking to offer the best during the tour. Note 10.

The 'Rock Tree' is located in the Bolivian Desert which inspired some of Salvador Dali's paintings. The Arbol de Piedra is an incredible natural rock formation that is usually a convenient stop on a tour of Uyuni and the Salt Flats. It is well worth checking out and you can wonder around and touch the other rocks in the surrounding area.

The Rock Tree (Árbol de Piedra) is a tree-like rock formation in the Siloli Desert in Bolivia. It is one of many volcanic rocks that are dispersed all around this unbelievable place. When I arrived there, sometime in the afternoon, the sun was up and the wind was not very strong. Luckily there were not many tourists around so I had the chance to climb other rock formations around this place. I stayed there about 1/2 an hour (not enough to see the whole place). I had the chance to take pictures of this marvelous Rock Tree formation that has a great similarity of a painting by Salvador Dali called "The Enigma of Desire". This stop is a must with all the tour companies and comes in the right moment to take a rest from long stretches of driving. The next time I go there I will make sure to stop for a longer period of time. The place is great for relaxing and appreciate all the surreal natural beauty that is present in this huge Eduardo Abaroa National Park. There is so much to see and do that the standard 3 day tour is not enough to see and do all it has to offer. My advise is to take a private longer tour with a good company like I did with Nueva Aventura. The visit to the Rock Tree which has and still is being eroded by the wind and rain, is well worth the trip.

While able to enjoy these lovely eroded formations in peace for hours, when groups of tourists roll up in their buses they run straight to this one rock for selfies and group pics. Then they jump back in the bus. But the beauty of this place is its variety, setting and solitude. The 'tree' is fine, but there is sooo much more here to gaze at.

It's just a big rock shaped like a tree... It's cool enough and the erosion creates some cool shapes in the rocks surrounding it but its not mind-blowing.

This landscape is like the paintings of Dali and that's also why they named some of the landscapes in the area to Dali. Stunning scenery!

Situated in the Avaroa National Park, this attraction was part of a four day Jeep tour from Tupiza to Uyuni.

I was surprised when we arrived here, as I thought the attraction was just a rock that looks like a tree. What I discovered is that there is a whole field of amazing rock formations to be explored. We had a lot of fun climbing over them and taking pictures. I could easily have spent a few more hours at this site… just one of so many amazing landscapes in this park… a must for your bucket list (see my photos below).

Right in the middle of the desert you will encounter this incredible rock garden, almost like a Dalí painting. Don't miss it...
