You can pull in on the roadside to marvel at the splendour of these weathered and worn red sandstone cliffs as they tower over the meandering river with it’s associated greenery. It’s really quite wonderful.

This is one of the things I found interesting on the root. And would have liked to use time there instead of a lot of the other places.

About half an hour outside calafate you encounter some amazing rock formations and the Castillos are apart of that. They are visible from the main road so worth stopping for a quick photo or two.

There are a number of these characteristic geological formations in the region, where the wid and water have carved the soil as it was pushed towars the sky by presumed geological cataclisms. Many of these formations appear to be man-made, but obviously are not.

The north of Argentina is really beautiful, with many mountains and rock formations. Los Castillos is just another wonder made by the wind

If you're on route 68, make a point to look at these natural beauties.. I wouldn't drive on the route to reach this as a destination though.

The section you pass through on the way to Cafayate, like most other viewpoints, is worth a stop for contemplation. Few, if any, tours will stop at all the viewpoints. It's worth renting a car or taxi to travel these stretches.
